Surviving These Unfair Scenarios [LITRPG - DIMENSION HOPPING]

Chapter 204 - An Involuntary Covenant

Without waiting any longer or even wondering where she was, Solène lunged at Adam. With one of her hands transformed into a red dragon claw and a savage smile on her face, the woman attacked like a predator who had found her prey.

Adam could barely react, using his spider-like appendages to block her, a task almost as difficult as blocking the Dracling's attacks. The Empress, through Adam's mouth, screamed immediately.

"What the hell is wrong with this woman!?"

Adam replied.

"I have no idea! Why is she even here!?"

Meanwhile, Solène just kept laughing and prepared to attack again. She imbued her claw with a strange golden fire and showed a feral grin.

"Since the last time we met, I've been thinking a lot about it. I even got a couple of new skills just for you!"

She said while laughing. In the meantime, despite the confusion, Adam used his [Cursed Vision] on the golden fire. The information he got was not encouraging.

[Flames of Rebecca Lv9]
[Additional Information]
[A skill that allows the user to invoke golden flames with the [Holy] attribute, coming from a World ruled by ancient Dragons. These flames have the quality of healing dragon-race allies and inflicting catastrophic damage on undead or [Cursed] enemies. It is impossible to extinguish or corrupt unless the enemy's potential rank surpasses that of the user.]
[Cursed Vision Knowledge]
[Notice: This skill can only be used and controlled if the user belongs to the "Dragon" race or any of its variants with a minimum rank of A.]

Adam gritted his teeth. This was a skill that seemed chosen specifically to counter him. Fighting against it would have been an almost automatic defeat, were it not for the fact that he was covered by his parasite, which did not fall into the category of a cursed entity.

"Calm down!"

Adam yelled at Solène, but the girl just kept laughing and seemed so excited that she wasn't listening. The boy didn't know it, but once Solène entered a combat trance, it was extremely difficult to pull her out, especially if she was having fun, and even worse, he didn't know it, but the woman considered Adam the opponent she most wanted to fight in her life; after all, he had been the first to push her to her limits during the previous scenario and had defeated her with apparent ease using only his skills, no weird tricks like other teams usually did.

The more the red claw with the golden flame impacted Adam's appendages, the more pain the boy felt, as if hundreds of knives were going straight through his body.

"Think of something! We are not going to last like this!"

The Empress screamed since she also felt the pain.

"I can only think of one idea, but there's no way to stop defending myself at the risk of taking a direct hit!"

Adam replied, trying his best to concentrate on blocking every attack.

Meanwhile, not too far from there, Charles was being tended to by Samantha, who gave him some cookies to help him recover some strength. The girl's face showed concern as she looked at Adam, because she had "discovered" that he was indeed Adam Scholar.

Before she could say anything, Charles put a hand on her shoulder.

"It's okay, don't worry."

He said calmly, however, Samantha couldn't control herself.

"How can I not worry?! Even if we have accepted that the other team came from another universe or something, that boy is still the demon Adam Scholar! I have to tell the others!"

But her words were cut short by an enormous shriek. It was the Superior Dracling, which had finally roared in fury after being wounded for the first time since its "birth" and then being ignored.

The monster launched itself at full speed toward Solène with the clear intention of attacking her with its enormous claws, taking advantage of the fact that she was too busy fighting Adam. However, before it could touch her, and without even looking at it, Solène moved her body back by pure instinct, avoiding the Dracling's attack by a hair's breadth.

Only then did she turn her eyes to see it, releasing the coldest and most contained furious gaze she had ever shown.

"What the hell are you and why are you interrupting me!?"

Solène said coldly, at the same time as she performed an instant counter, striking the Dracling's face with her dragon claw wrapped in golden fire. The impact was tremendous, and she sent it flying back with great force despite the monster's immense girth. This time, the damage was noticeable; it had not pierced the black skin, but something strange did happen: the Dracling began to scream very loudly, clutching its face as it burned with the golden fire covering its head.

Adam was surprised by this, enough for Solène to take advantage of the carelessness to bypass his mutated appendages. She reached the boy, kicked him to the ground, and stood over him with her red claw still wrapped in the golden fire, right above his head. But this time, the girl's smile had vanished, replaced by an expression of disappointment.

"How is it possible that you are so weak? That is not the Adam Scholar I remember, you are pathetic."

Solène said with disgust, but she wasn't the only one feeling like that.

"Get off me, you brute!"

The Empress screamed through Adam's mouth; fortunately, Adam himself managed to regain control of his lips just before she said anything more.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"Wait, wait, wait!"

He said avidly.

"I'm not at one hundred percent right now! More than half of my powers are sealed!"

This seemed to surprise Solène, so Adam simply capitalized on the idea.

"We're in a very dangerous scenario, with extremely strong enemies, and I have to recover my abilities to be useful."

Solène listened, thought for a bit, and looked around, finally analyzing the situation.

"Please help me!"

Adam continued, betting on what he was about to say.

"It's clear you have an advantage against the enemies here. I promise that once we're done and I've recovered my abilities, we can fight. That's what you want, right? You want revenge? It wouldn't be very satisfying to get your revenge on me while I'm in this state, would it?"

Solène sighed.

"You just don't get it, do you?"

She said with a tired look in her eyes.

"I think I get the gist of it now… But I don't gain anything by just helping you. I could just kill you and wait for the rest of your team to die; possibly that would send me back. But no… My help will cost much more than what you said."

Adam was perplexed, not knowing what she meant. Solène smiled again and brought her face close to Adam's, showing her enormous smile of sharp teeth and her predatory eyes.

"In exchange for helping you in this scenario and helping you recover your powers, you have to swear that you will fight me, not just once, but forever, whenever I want, regardless of the time or situation, and we will only stop when I say I'm satisfied for the day."

Upon hearing that, Adam could only scream in confusion.

"What?!"

However, the Empress took possession of his lips at that moment.

"Agreed!"

She exclaimed to Adam's horror. In that same instant, a system window appeared above them both:

[The skill [Blood Covenant] of user Adam Scholar has taken effect upon mutual agreement.]
[The pact between user Adam Scholar and user Solène Beaumont has been finalized.]
[Notice: As long as the covenant condition is met, both users will have an increase in the power of their skills while they are together.]
[Warning: If the covenant conditions are not met, the user who broke it will suffer a penalty with the statuses [Weakened], [Skill Sealed], and [Null Resistance] for the next 5 scenarios or events they participate in.]

Adam could not mask his unpleasant surprise at what had happened. His vampiric racial skill, [Blood Covenant], had been activated through a legal loophole. While he hadn't verbally accepted the pact, the Empress, who was technically sharing his body and his identity at the moment, had. The realization that he was now bound by a contract he had not agreed to sent a shiver down his spine.

Solène simply burst into laughter upon reading that. She did not expect something like that to happen, but it gave her more than enough guarantees to know that Adam would comply with her demands.

Still with Adam on the ground, Solène knelt over him, sitting on his chest and bringing her face so close that the boy could sense her breath on his face. With her enormous, sharp smile and eyes that glowed with a very powerful inner fire, she slowly said in a sarcastic tone.

"A pleasure doing business with you."

After this, she got up with a jump and focused her gaze on the Dracling, which still had its head on fire with golden flames.

"I assume that's one of your objectives."

Solène said, and without a second thought, she launched herself at it. Two red dragon wings grew from the girl's back, and she used them to propel herself toward her objective.

However, the Dracling, even with its face burning, managed to respond and launch a counterattack to Solène, who didn't stop laughing while attacking with both arms transformed into dragon claws. The two moved at a brutal speed, their attacks crossing in the air, creating ripples of energy after each clash. Adam managed to get up and was then reached by Charles, who asked if he was okay.

"Yes, I'm fine."

Adam replied.

"What's up with her!?"

Charles asked, referring to Solène, making Adam sigh in defeat.

"I wish I knew…"

He said, but the truth was that at least now they had a clearer opportunity.

Adam looked back and saw that Chloe, who was no longer bleeding, was still lying on the ground. But beside her, Samantha was also unconscious.

"What happened?"

Adam asked with concern.

"During the Dracling's last charge, one of the shockwaves sent a rock flying at Samantha, knocking her out... I couldn't react in time… So I placed her next to the other girl and gave her one of her cookies. She'll be fine in a couple of minutes."

That seemed strange to Adam, but he didn't think much of it, especially because Charles seemed very sorry that he wasn't able to protect his teammate.

"Okay then… We have to support her."

He said while reforming his mutated appendages. Charles nodded, and together they ran at full speed toward the two who were fighting.

The Dracling roared in fury as Solène moved around it, attacking with her claws imbued in golden fire, clearly on par with each other. Moments later, upon arrival, Charles, with his flaming sword, used extremely fast movements and his katana with great mastery, blocking many of the Dracling's attacks, although he did no damage to it.

Adam used his spider-like mutated limbs to do the same as Charles, and at one point, the Dracling, in desperation, launched a torrent of black fire. Adam intercepted it and absorbed it through his mouth again, consuming it all with gusto. Solène, seeing that, could not help but whistle, a little impressed.

The battle continued uninterruptedly; the entire strategy was based on Charles and Adam providing support, covering Solène while she did damage and burned the monster a bit at a time. The battle became a relentless assault, with the three attackers moving in unusual perfect sync, until finally, the Dracling fell from the accumulated damage, collapsing like a great and heavy ball of flaming fat, consuming itself little by little, finally defeated.

It was a somewhat anticlimactic ending, but one that had been relatively simple with Solène there.

Once the combat had ended, both Charles and Adam fell, sitting on the ground and noticeably tired, knowing it was just the beginning. The defeat of a single Dracling, while a victory, was just a small drop in a vast ocean of monsters. The gigantic figure of Dravhark could still be seen in the distance like a massive, unyielding shadow on the horizon, not to mention the tide of Darkness Draclings still fluttering in the skies.

Solène, who seemed somewhat calmer after having annihilated her target, approached Adam, who was still sitting on the ground, and leaned over his head with both arms.

"So, what's next?"

She said, her voice a low, mocking whisper, much to Adam's displeasure.

Meanwhile, not far from there, Chloe finally regained consciousness, getting up and rubbing her head as if she had a hangover. She was a little disoriented, but after a few seconds, she noticed that Samantha was by her side, still unconscious, making her wonder what was going on. Then she saw the others, but her eyes fixed on Solène; she recognized her from the previous scenario… But what was she doing here!? Finally, she saw how the redhead leaned on Adam with more confidence than she had ever had with him, and she couldn't take it anymore.

"What the hell is going on here?!"

She exclaimed very angrily.
