Surviving These Unfair Scenarios [LITRPG - DIMENSION HOPPING]

Chapter 202 - The Empress's Lament

Meanwhile, on another front of the chaotic battlefield, another fight was reaching a fever pitch. The group of Chloe, the Empress in Adam's body, Samantha, and Charles found themselves in a desperate struggle for survival. Their enemy was another of the Superior Void Draclings—this one monstrously obese, with comically small wings that somehow still managed to keep its immense body aloft.

Chloe, the Empress, and Samantha huddled together in a small alcove of rubble, their eyes fixed on the desperate fight before them. Charles was a torrent of motion, his body moving with a speed that was almost impossible to follow. His sword, imbued with a powerful, searing fire, danced in the air like a beautiful, deadly light that cut through the darkness.

The guy would swing his sword, a move so fast that it would leave a trail of fire in the air, but the monster was basically an immovable object. Its immense, grotesque body would simply absorb every blow without a single scratch. The Dracling, whose eyes were filled with a sadistic pleasure, would simply use its massive body to block every attack, and Charles's blade, no matter how fast he was, would simply bounce off its hide.

On the other hand, the blond was not so lucky. He was bleeding from a dozen different wounds, his body bruised and battered, and his movements were becoming slower by the second. He would lunge forward, his sword a white-hot torrent of destruction, but the Dracling would simply swat him away with a single claw, sending him flying back in a spray of dirt and blood. Charles would get back up, his body trembling with a deep, bone-shattering exhaustion, but he would not stop. He would keep fighting and standing up with sheer determination.

"We have to do something!"

Chloe screamed, her voice full of fear.

"He can't hold it for much longer!"

Samantha, whose face was filled with a desperate, manic energy, was frantically flipping through a book she had materialized just moments before, her fingers flying through the pages with a speed that was almost supernatural. The Empress used Adam's [Cursed Vision] to get a glimpse of the book.

However, no matter how frantically Samantha searched, she couldn't find a single recipe that could help them. Charles, meanwhile, was slowly but surely losing the fight, his movements becoming slower and slower as he took more and more damage.

The Dracling, whose eyes were filled with a sadistic pleasure, was now laughing a deep, guttural laugh, and with a powerful, bone-shattering blow, it sent the blond guy flying back, his body skidding across the ground in a spray of blood.

Charles, whose body was filled with a searing pain, slowly got up, his legs shaking with a deep, bone-shattering exhaustion. He could feel the pain in every part of his body, every muscle screaming in protest, but he would not fall. He stood there, his body a testament to his unbreakable will, and with a final, desperate roar, he forced himself back to his feet, however, his body was trembling from all the accumulated damage.

The Dracling, seeing its chance, simply laughed and shot toward him. Charles, whose eyes were wide with exhaustion, clenched his teeth and prepared himself for the impact… But it never came. The monster simply passed him by, its attention now on the other users of the group. Charles's eyes widened in horror as he screamed.

"No!"

He forced his battered body to get back up so that he could run after it, but it was too late, though, as the Dracling had already reached Chloe, the Empress, and Samantha, and with a ferocious, brutal assault, it sent out a torrent of claw attacks while laughing like a maniac.

Samantha, unlike the other two, had very high physical qualities, so she was able to get out of the range of the attack with a fast leap, just barely avoiding the deadly claws. But Chloe and the Empress were not so lucky. The pink-haired girl, who was barely stronger than a normal person, was not fast enough to get out of the way, and the Empress, who was not used to Adam's body without her own powers, was also not fast enough to react.

They both took several cuts to their bodies, although none of them were fatal. They fell to the ground, their bodies filled with a deep, searing pain, and for the first time in her undead existence, the Empress screamed. It was not a scream of fear, but of pure, unadulterated anger at the unfamiliar sensation of physical pain.

The Dracling, which was now laughing even more maniacally, was about to deliver the killing blow when Chloe, overcoming her own pain, grabbed the Empress by the arm and, with a powerful pull, dragged her out of the way, taking several more cuts to her body in the process.

It was enough for now. Charles finally caught up to the Dracling and, with a powerful, guttural roar, proceeded to hit it with his sword, forcing it back, even when he was injured and exhausted. On the other hand, Samantha, whose face was filled with a mixture of terror and desperation, was frantically looking for something in her book, pulling her hair as if she was about to rip it out.

The Empress looked at Chloe, her body filled with anger.

"Don't you ever touch me again!"

She screamed, her eyes filled with a primal rage.

"I don't need your help!"

Chloe, whose body was now covered in cuts and bruises, simply stared at her with a calm, patient expression.

"You're not the invincible ghost queen anymore, please realize your limits… You can feel pain. You can bleed. You are vulnerable."

She said, her voice soft but firm, then she paused for a moment, her voice filled with a powerful conviction.

"And even if you don't want it, I will keep you safe."

The Empress, who was about to scream at her again, stopped. Her face, which had been so filled with anger, was now filled with a deep, unadulterated shock.

"You… you stupid kid!"

She screamed, her voice filled with a raw, powerful emotion.

"If you are that worried about my Lich's body, then…"

But before she could end her sentence, Chloe interrupted her.

"It's not just Adam's body!"

She screamed back, her voice filled with frustration.

"I am trying to save you! The real you! You are not a curse, you are a person! … You are a person who is hurt and afraid, and I will not let you suffer alone! I know how you feel, we all do! That's why not only Adam but everyone was on board in trying to understand and help you!"

The Empress, whose eyes were filled with shock, was at a loss for words. Her mind, which had been so sure of everything, was now a maelstrom of confusion and uncertainty. She looked at Chloe, her face, which had been contorted with anger, was now filled with a deep, unadulterated awe.

"Who are you people?"

She asked in a whisper. But before Chloe could answer, Samantha screamed at them from a distance.

"Look out!"

Both of them turned and saw that the Dracling had managed to get past Charles again and was flying directly toward them. They both jumped back, just barely avoiding the first claw. The monster, laughing wildly, then sent out a torrent of fire that hit the ground and sent a shockwave of heat that sent them flying.

Chloe and the Empress fell to the ground, their bodies filled with a searing pain, watching as the Dracling, laughing like a maniac, flew toward them again. This time, the draconic beast sent out a couple of cutting waves as it swiped its claws in the air.

Due to their previous movement, it would be impossible for either of them to avoid the attack. The Empress's face contorted into an expression of absolute horror and powerlessness at this attack… She hated having her powers sealed, defenseless and unable to do anything; it was exactly as it had been "that one time"... She could do nothing but cover herself and wait for the worst, but then, before her astonished eyes, Chloe covered her with her body, taking the impact of a couple of cutting waves that, by some miracle, did not hit them completely, only causing large, deep cuts in the girl's back instead of piercing her through, as would have been normal.

The Empress could not believe what she was seeing, and her mind could not process what had happened. She did not even move when the Dracling went to attack her again, being intercepted by Charles and this time also by Samantha, who had materialized a giant fork and knife that she was using as weapons. The Empress looked at Chloe, who was now covered in a lot of her own blood.

"Why… Why would you do that!?"

She screamed, her voice filled with a powerful confusion. However, Chloe did not respond; she was trying her hardest to fight back the pain and not pass out. The Empress looked at her with a desperate anxiety. Was she going to die? She didn't know… She couldn't be sure of anything, but... what did it matter if she died or not? But she didn't want it to happen... She didn't? No, she didn't care about this human, especially one who was part of the group that had sealed her powers… But why did it cause her such anxiety to see her like this then?

The Empress's mind was a whirlwind of confusion and uncertainty. She looked up and saw that things were not going well. Samantha had been unable to keep up and had received a cut across her entire side, falling to the ground, while Charles was still using all his willpower to continue the fight... It was all lost. Eventually, the monster would come for her again and kill her, and Chloe with her...

It was after that thought that a voice sounded in the Empress's head.

"Well, I have to say, the fact that you want to protect someone is something that has taken me completely by surprise."

The Empress was surprised, but she immediately recognized the voice… It was Adam's voice.

"What? Little lich? … How are you speaking to me?"

She demanded to know, her voice a quiet whisper in her head. Adam's voice laughed softly in response.

"While you've been using my body for over a day, I've taken advantage of the time difference to make a few 'changes' in our internal world."

He said, making the Empress ask furiously.

"What do you mean by that!?"

But the boy's voice remained calm as he answered.

"Don't worry, it's nothing bad. It's just that I have a little more control over it now."

The Empress clenched her teeth in frustration, but then Adam's tone turned more serious.

"But that can wait. The most important thing right now is your desire. Do you truly wish to help? Not just to save yourself but to help Chloe?"

The Empress screamed back.

"What game are you playing by saying that!?"

Adam insisted in a more imposing voice.

"Do you want to help her or do you not?"

The Empress, her voice filled with a raw, primal desperation, finally said.

"Yes! That's what I want!"

Then Adam's voice, taking a rather cheerful tone, ended the mental contact with a last sentence.

"Great! Then let's team up for now!"

The Dracling, which had overcome Charles again, launched itself toward the Empress and Chloe, ready to end them once and for all, taking advantage of the fact that the Empress seemed to have stood still, staring at the ground.

However, when it was about to reach them, it was hit head-on by a gigantic spectral fist that emerged from within Adam's body. The impact was so strong that the Dracling, which was taken by surprise, was pushed back like a demolition ball due to its fatness and slammed heavily against the ground, creating a crater. Charles and Samantha, both tired and wounded, stared at what had happened, their faces a mix of shock and awe.

The body of Adam slowly got up, his muscles rippling with a newfound power. His physique, which had been thin and lanky, began to fill out, his muscles recovering their usual mass. His hair, which had been long and white, began to darken and return to its original brownish color, though his eyes remained a chilling red.

His whole body, which had been so weak and frail just a moment ago, was now filled with a powerful, unyielding, cursed energy. Finally, he lifted both arms forward, pointing toward the Dracling.

"It's good to be back! … Well, kinda."

He said with a voice that was clearly a superposition of Adam's and the Empress's in unison, a symphony of two minds in a single body, this time, both at control.
