Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1278: Ambush

A moment ago.

"We have finally arrived." Nathan muttered while looking up. Lightning struck the top of the mountain every thirty minutes according to the information, and just now, he could see the lightning.

Fenrir, in his pistol form, couldn't help but warn Nathan. "I don't know what's going on, but I can feel a strong presence around here.

"I'm assuming there is a powerful alien somewhere around left."

"What are you talking about? You can't find it?" Nathan frowned.

"That's the problem. I can find it, but it has multiple signals. This is the first time I've sensed something like this."

"..." Nathan fell silent for a moment. "So, there should be an elite class alien in that direction? Only one? Not two?"

"Yes. While there are multiple signals, I notice they are the same. So, it must come from the same existence. So, from the power alone, I believe it's only a single elite class alien."

"I guess we can fight it without any problems. There are many aliens around, but it shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"If you, I, Anubis, Nidhogg, Jinwu, and Orochi worked together, we would have no problem in defeating the elite class alien. In fact, just you, me, and Anubis should be enough, but the time it will take to kill one is long.

"So, we will overwhelm the elite class alien with numbers. And in the worst-case scenario, we have to delegate someone to handle the warrior class aliens around it."

Nathan couldn't deny Fenrir's assessment. After seeing their battle against the plant alien, he knew that this number was enough.

The second scenario was only for when they had to face two elite class aliens at the same time.

After all, Nathan had no plan to escape unless it was necessary.

"How many aliens are around this area?" Nathan asked.

"About two thousand? I can feel that much, but most of them are proto-class aliens. However, I notice a strong presence. They must be the warrior class aliens."

The mountain itself was quite huge, so it wouldn't be weird for more aliens to be here. However, two thousand seemed to be reasonable enough.

Whenever high-level aliens came to the human territory, they usually gathered the lower-level aliens on the way.

So, it wasn't weird for the place where they resided to have fewer numbers compared to the outbreak.

Still, he had to face so many aliens at once. Even someone like Nathan would die if he were careless.

"Since there is only one, we should defeat it as quickly as possible. I believe the other elite class alien is somewhere around here, just slightly farther." Nathan raised one finger. "So, we kill this one and fight the other one before retrieving the lightning stone."

"Sounds like a good plan," Fenrir agreed without hesitation.

With their plan set, Nathan turned Fenrir back to his original form. Then, he summoned Anubis, Jinwu, Qilin, and Mae first. Orochi, Kun, and Nidhogg were simply too big to make an ambush.

"We will go straight to the aliens. Don't forget that the elite class alien has a unique ability, so we have to be extra careful even though we have the advantage.

"Fenrir and I will open up the path. Jinwu, you should focus on scouting first. If you are sure that there are no other unexpected variables, you can transform into your battle form and hit them hard. I will summon the others at that time.

"Qilin, you will be in charge of our defense. Since we need speed, we don't care much about our protection, so it's on you. Mae, you will become the eye of this operation. Observe our surroundings. We don't want to get encircled if we don't have to. If there is a group of aliens, it's your job to mess them up."

All of them nodded.

Since Nathan had given them their respective jobs, Nathan led the charge.

Fenrir slipped past him in an instant. They were at the foot of the mountain, so Nathan planned to sweep everything clockwise before climbing the mountain.

There were aliens scattered along their path. The location of the danger Fenrir sensed was around 300 to 500 meters, so they headed to the closest one first.

They didn't know what they were up to, so they had to be extra careful.

Fenrir and Nathan killed the aliens in their path as swiftly and as stealthily as possible, but as expected, the aliens noticed them and informed the others right away.

Fortunately, Nathan moved fast enough that Fenrir could say, "I have found it. There is one right in front!" before they alerted the elite class alien.

"!!!" Nathan raised his eyebrows and came to a halt when he saw what it was.

It was a pupa. A pale black pupa. Its belly was greenish, as there was a green slimy liquid leaking out of the pupa.

"A pupa? Is the alien reproducing or something?" Nathan gasped. "Never mind. We should just destroy it and find others. But if the pupae are here, the parent might be here. That parent should be the elite class alien.

"Though I don't know if the aliens can breed, especially under the influence of the black cell…" Nathan informed everyone.

He formed a bullet and shot the pupa. If it were another person, they might not feel anything. But Nathan felt a bit bad about killing a child, no matter the species.

Unfortunately, there was no other choice. He had to kill them. If its parent was indeed an elite class alien, these pupae might become one in the future.

What he didn't expect was that these pupae were not children. Once Nathan destroyed two of them, huge tentacles suddenly emerged from the ground, causing the ground to shake.

"!!!" Nathan raised his head and saw a massive octopus rising into the sky. The ground shook just from a small movement. Its size might be equal to Kun. The pupae he saw earlier were actually a kind of bubble on the tip of the tentacles.

"Fenrir… That's the danger, not the pupae…"

Fenrir blinked his eyes a few times. "Oh, well… It was concentrating its existence on those pupae? Our opponent this time could actually spread its existence, making it untraceable even with my—!"

Fenrir abruptly stopped and jumped toward Nathan.

"!!!" Nathan was confused by Fenrir's sudden action, but he soon felt another presence coming from the side. That presence appeared so suddenly that he couldn't even react.

It was a humanoid alien, its body reappearing as if it had just revealed itself to the world. Its hand turned into a blade and stabbed through Fenrir's body.

"Fenrir?"
