Chapter 433: Si Jie

"I've seen you before." Wei Jun said. He had always heard the system's voice, and he had an inkling of who he was from all the small revelations before, but now he was absolutely sure.

"I suppose so. I was, after all, at the forefront of the war." The overseer replied.

"Why come out now?" Wei Jun simply asked.

"Straight to the point, I see." The system couldn't help but say. Wei Jun was exactly the same, even when they were face to face, like they were right now.

Wei Jun wouldn't be lying if he said he didn't care about the system's past, but he was running out of time. There was a lot to do, and Wei Jun didn't know how long this conversation could take.

So, avoiding questions like what was the purpose of the war, or how the overseer ended up as who he was, Wei Jun got to the end point of the conversation, the part that really mattered.

"Because he's coming." The overseer simply said.

Wei Jun trembled. He didn't need to be elaborated on who the 'he' in question was. He had seen him in his dreams before. Power so strong that even the world feared when it would break apart, and space trembled by his very movements.

"What does that have anything to do with me?" Wei Jun couldn't help but ask.

"It has a lot to do with you." The overseer, Si Jie, replied.

"You're the only one who can kill them." Si Jie added.

"Them?" Wei Jun asked.

"What? You haven't even been the least bit curious why people who even the most luckiest people in the world couldn't kill fell by your hands?" The Si Jie asked.

"..." Wei Jun had no reply for that.

"You're an outsider. An invader, a perfect being, for the destiny of this world to be able to do anything against you. Of course, it could crush you in multitudes of other ways, but if you could remain hidden and get to the point that even the Supremes would have to worry about you, you become an existence for whom anything is possible." Si Jie elaborated.

"And he wants me why?" Wei Jun asked but he had an idea. He looked at the original Wei Jun who was trembling in the corner of the space, just barely remaining in the light.

"I think you have an idea of your own, host. Isn't that why you haven't killed him yet?" Si Jie asked.

"There's nothing wrong with being careful." Wei Jun simply replied.

"Of course, there isn't." Si Jie couldn't help but agree.

With both of them on the same page, Wei Jun finally asked what the overseer was there to really ask, "How?"

"Haha." A soft chuckle left Si Jie's lips, who smiled and said, "I can't hide anything from you, host, can I?"

"..." Wei Jun remained silent for Si Jie to resume, and seeing Wei Jun had no intentions of speaking up, Si Jie sighed and began, "It all began with the visit of a being who had no way of going back to his world. So he explored the worlds he could. This world, about five times the original size it was, was one of his explorations. He came here when mankind didn't even know how to speak, when mythical beasts ruled the sky and the ground. In such a place, he started everything."

"For people, he was their god."

"But, he left one day. As all outsiders have to return to their homes one day, he returned too, of course, given his long life, his one day was akin to millions of years for mankind."

"As he returned, turmoil began to rise up and high."

"The world almost came to an end."

"But then, it was shown that he who left hadn't forgotten the world. He sent someone to collect the situation. Someone... eccentric."

Wei Jun didn't have to be told who.

He had a very good idea who this eccentric person was, but he didn't see any reason to interrupt Si Jie. He let him continue, "Just like how it was always better to teach someone to catch a fish rather than giving them fish, he also taught the weakest of the races, then how to defend themselves."

"Perfectly knowing the opportunity he was granting the people, he still chose to let them have it, knowing it would bring another kind of destruction one day."

"The humans retaliated." Wei Jun remarked.

"Precisely." Si Jie replied. "The humans became the greatest force on Earth to ever exist. And among them, a special bloodline, born out of the angel's courtesy, the human who was sent there to resolve the issues of this world, was the highest grade of disasters."

"Your father." Wei Jun commented.

"And all before him and after his bloodline." Si Jie replied.

"The bloodline of the angels, we were called. But that was far from the truth. Our great, great ancestor wasn't born with the intention of giving him the strongest power. He was only saved during a complicated delivery by his power, a very tiny glimmer of his power left on the child during the process."

"He couldn't, but one of his descendants learned how to harness that power in the future."

"And that, host, became our trademark."

"Our bloodline began to call themselves angels."

"But, never in the history of the angels, was there a talent who could control the will of life better than my father. I myself was a monster born with three cultivation and one divine mana technique, along with the harnessed power of life, but he, who only held the power of life, was a monster who couldn't be defined by common sense."

Wei Jun didn't need to be told. He had seen that common-sense-defying power. He could say with certainty that there was no way Wei Jun would ever be able to win against that power if he were to come out the same.

"Haha, don't worry." Si Jie tried to quell Wei Jun's worries.

"Although he would be released, it would take some time for him to recover his strength. After all, he was the main target of the purge. The others who followed him were just part of the process, so they weren't limited much. However, he was the true motive of the allied forces, he was the one they wanted to seal."

Understanding where it was going, Wei Jun muttered, "Dungeon."

"Exactly. There was no pocket dimension that could ever hold him. It was impossible to do so. So, they did what they could." Si Jie explained, but Wei Jun had a hunch of what they did.

He had seen it. Even in all that chaos, he never harmed his children.

"They made him willingly enter the pocket dimension and become bound with it. Using us." Si Jie cemented Wei Jun's theory.

"And why would you do that?" Wei Jun asked.

"We saw what our father had become and decided to take him down even at the cost of our lives. Of course, I never agreed to put my brothers and sisters through the same hell, but they had a stronger sense of justice than I did. They chose to sacrifice themselves so another horror like our father couldn't be born."

"Yet you went ahead and had kids." Wei Jun commented.

"Well, I was a man in the end. A beautiful, beautiful woman after my thousands of years of loneliness, and the next thing I know, she was writhing on the bed in pain, giving birth to my child. My daughter." Si Jie replied, a nostalgic and happy expression on his face.

"But they didn't inherit it, none of them did." Si Jie added. "Nor did my son or my daughter inherit the power of the angels. The curse had stopped."

"Curse?" Wei Jun couldn't help but ask.

"When you see the deaths of entire races and worlds, you begin to consider even the most holy of powers evil."

"To us, who had seen our father wipe dimensions and races of millennia just for his amusement, we couldn't help but call our power a curse."

"That was why my siblings, knowing well what they were going to be put through, willingly surrendered themselves so that they wouldn't be seduced by that power."

Listening to Si Jie to that point, Wei Jun was sure that was the end. And also all he needed to know what the system was going to ask him. What he wanted.

"Why would I need them?" Wei Jun asked.

"Because they can help you defeat him. As you stand now, you cannot defeat him. Reach the peak of cultivation, and even then, it would be impossible for you." Si Jie replied.

But Wei Jun knew that was not his main concern. He had something the other party had. Not the same, but something similar.

"I know where your confidence stems from, but you will still need them." Si Jie replied.

No matter how confident Wei Jun was, he still admitted that point. Nodding in defeat, he sighed and said, "I'll free them. To the best of my ability."

"Then you already know how to." Si Jie said before he raised his hand, and a bead of light formed on his hand, "And you will need this for your next battle."

Curious, Wei Jun looked at the description of the bead that slowly floated towards him and couldn't help but be shocked by what he read...
