Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 1060: The Main Force Arrives

As an outstanding soldier, he can always immediately engage in combat anytime, anywhere. Everyone seemed to have springs under their feet, bouncing up, with weapons raised horizontally, eyes sharply scanning the dense forest ahead, muscles tense as if they were fierce beasts ready to deliver a deadly blow to their prey at any moment.

Luo Zheng's sharp gaze focused on the dense forest; the appearance of the enemy meant they hadn't given up and signified imminent danger. Calculating the distance and the time spent in his mind, he quickly said, "Hook, lead the way ahead, everyone keep moving, it's not time to teach the enemy a lesson yet."

"Yes." Everyone turned their guns, lifted the wounded, and under Hook's lead, sprinted forward without looking back, fearful of delaying time and dragging the team down. However, Luo Zheng called Ghost Hand, Mountain Eagle, Zhou Gang, Liu Xun, Zhang Bin, Wu Yuan, and Meng Zhu to stay, taking out button bombs to set traps around.

No matter who the pursuers were, when they reached the base, they would undoubtedly come up for an inspection. Not leaving something behind, Luo Zheng felt he would be letting himself down. Initially underestimating the button bombs, after witnessing their power, Luo Zheng felt it was necessary to maximize their effect. These bombs, which could be triggered by pressure, could be easily buried, covered with loose soil or hay in a crucial spot, rendering them unobtrusive and hard to notice but with explosive power equivalent to a High-explosive Hand Grenade. Luo Zheng eagerly awaited the enemy's expression upon stepping on them.

Soon, everyone set up over a dozen traps before quickly evacuating the scene, running a hundred meters ahead before stopping to set another ten traps before leaving, swiftly chasing the main force. Thinking about the sorry state of the enemy being bombed, Luo Zheng and his comrades couldn't help but feel delighted, and their running speed unconsciously accelerated.

"Boss, why don't we stay and ambush them?" Zhou Gang suggested excitedly.

"Haven't had enough fighting yet? There will be plenty of chances later, hurry up and run." Luo Zheng jokingly scolded.

"Alright, then we'll let them off the hook." Zhou Gang jested, and the others erupted in laughter, the tense atmosphere of the fight dissipating instantly. Everyone quickened their pace to catch up.

Half an hour later, they caught up with the main force, joined forces, and continued on their way. Suddenly, booming sounds were heard from behind them, and they were overjoyed, exchanging smiles. Luo Zheng shouted, "Brothers, the enemy is setting off fireworks to bid us farewell; we should live up to their kindness, shouldn't we? Let's all perk up and quicken our pace."

"Yes." Everyone shouted in unison, their morale soaring, fighting spirit high.

The team continued their rapid march, and muffled explosions echoed from behind them, knowing the traps were working. Each person was energized, feeling as though they had endless strength, marching for another day and night. Until the next morning, after eating, they continued their journey. Suddenly, a wolf appeared ahead, startling everyone to the ground as if facing a formidable foe. The wolves had left a deep impression; seeing a Wild Wolf, they couldn't help but think of the Wild Wolf pack, the White Wolf King, and Tang Tian.

Luo Zheng didn't expect a Wild Wolf to suddenly appear here and immediately thought of the heartless Tang Tian. Gritting his teeth, he was about to shoot the Wild Wolf to vent his anger when Hook quickly reacted, shouting, "Don't shoot, everyone, it's my wolf." He rushed forward with a look of joy.

The wolf saw Hook and joyfully ran up as well. Witnessing this scene left everyone dumbfounded, disbelief gleaming in their sharp eyes. This wolf overturned their perception of wolf packs. Luo Zheng stood up in amazement, looking at the man and wolf, full of disbelief, asking, "Old friend, are you sure this wolf is yours? What's going on?"

"It's my partner that I raised from childhood. Its presence here means the main force is nearby." Hook hurriedly explained while wrapping his arms around the wolf's head, affectionately rubbing his face against it like a child who loved his pet, leaving everyone stunned.

"Main force?" Luo Zheng exclaimed happily, asking, "Where are they?"

"Follow it." Hook said excitedly, murmured a few words to the wolf in the local language, and the wolf whimpered softly, turning to walk ahead at a leisurely pace. Hook continued, "Quick, follow me."

"Go." Luo Zheng looked at the wolf in surprise. He'd heard of hunting dogs, military dogs, police dogs, but never heard of someone training wolves. Yet, trusting Hook, he led everyone to follow suit. The wolf, seeing them come along, naturally increased its speed, as did everyone else.

Along the way, curiosity spurred everyone to keep pace, fearing the embarrassment of being left behind by a wolf. Luo Zheng caught up to Hook and asked a few questions. Hook didn't conceal and told how he found and adopted the wolf pup, revealing the truth. Luo Zheng envied, saying, "I hear wolves are intelligent and proud animals, never yielding to any creature except the Wolf King. You treat it as a friend, no wonder it listens to you, good father."

"Yes, our ancestors said that even if you favor a wolf, it won't respect you but coexist with you, only as friends, respecting and trusting it, then it'll consider you a friend. But this process is long; I was lucky to encounter a newborn pup, whose mother died." Hook chuckled.

Engaged in scattered chatting, time flew unnoticed, and over an hour later, the wolf suddenly sped ahead. Hook, seeing this, laughed excitedly, emitting a peculiar call like a night owl. Soon, the opposite hills responded. Hook elatedly told Luo Zheng, "They're just ahead."

"Let's go," Luo Zheng rejoiced, signaling the team to accelerate. Everyone, hearing the main force was just ahead, instantly perked up, their physical strength seemed to recover rapidly, speeding up their advance.

Soon, they saw more than a dozen people running from the front hills, among them were a few familiar faces to Luo Zheng. Xiong Bi, Bao Li, and Lang Sen. Unexpectedly, Lang Sen had joined the main force, old friends met, Luo Zheng joyously hugged each one, exchanging friendly shoulder pats.

Ghost Hand, Mountain Eagle, and the others were also acquainted, coming up for hugs, while Lan Xue, being female, extended her hand kindly.

Luo Zheng looked at Lang Sen in surprise, asking, "How did you end up with the main force?"

"Rat-tat-tat!" Before Lang Sen could answer, a burst of dense gunfire from afar broke the forest's silence, startling the birds into flight, beasts roaring. Everyone's face changed drastically, instinctively looking towards the direction of the gunfire. Luo Zheng, seeing it didn't come from behind, glanced at Hook with a grave expression.
