Chapter 1: SPOP Chapter 1 I Want to Fight Ten
The sea breeze blew gently, and a faint salty, fishy smell drifted through the air.
The curtain at the window fluttered, making the well-ventilated bedroom feel cool.
The cat under the table lifted a paw to rub its face, half-opened its eyes to look around, then closed them again and resumed its nap, purring softly.
It was supposed to be a perfect morning for sleeping in, but Rojen had to busy himself packing his bag.
Someone was after him. Yes, they were chasing him. Of course, once they caught up with him, they wouldn't let him escape with a simple "heh heh heh".
Instead, they would throw him into a damp, foul-smelling prison. Moreover, Rojen speculated that if he were caught, he would end up in the infamous underwater prison and never see the light of day again.
"Rojen, hurry up, those crazy, disgusting guys are almost here!" The little girl outside nervously scanned the surroundings and urged him on.
"Got it, got it!" Rojen waved his hand lazily, then grabbed his small bag and left the bedroom.
"Those guys are really disgusting. Roger just died, and now they're coming to get you to collect the bounty. How shameless!"
When Rojen walked up behind the little girl, she, who was about ten years old, was still grinding her teeth in anger and cursing those shameless people.
Rojen just smiled. He knew exactly why they were after him - those people were after the high bounty on his head. After all, compared to his elder brother, the Pirate King Gol D. Roger, his own strength was practically negligible.
Even though he had been training non-stop for the past sixteen years, talent was talent. He had to admit that he didn't have the potential to become a powerhouse.
"Hurry up! I can only take you to the harbor, the rest is up to you. After you leave Loguetown, you have to take care of yourself!" The little girl said with tears in her eyes.
Rojen couldn't help but smile helplessly. He quickened his pace as he comforted her. He also didn't want to be caught by those guys and handed over to the Marines.
"Jinx, don't worry about me. But you'd better be careful. If you keep following me, you might get involved in this mess too."
"No, with Roger gone, you're my only family." Jinx said firmly.
Rojen shook his head but didn't reject her any further. He needed this little girl to show him the way. He didn't even know where the ship was that was supposed to take him away.
Soon, they had walked several hundred meters from Rojen's home. Finally, after those few hundred meters, Rojen stopped.
He looked back at the house with a complex expression on his face. He had lived here for sixteen years. Ten years ago, he had lived with this middle-aged man. Ten years later, he lived alone.
He couldn't understand how Roger, who was almost middle-aged, could have such a much younger brother, but that was the reality. Existence itself justified it, and Rojen understood that.
He wasn't originally from this world. When he opened his eyes and realized where he was, he had felt excitement and joy. This was the world of "One Piece" and he had a legendary older brother.
He was the younger brother of Pirate King Roger! They shared the same surname, the same bloodline. He had been taught by Roger from an early age. But then something tragic happened - Rojen realized that he had no talent for martial arts at all.
For the past sixteen years, he had followed the Saitama's training methods, running like crazy, doing push-ups, covering himself with a thick blanket when it was hot, and letting himself sweat, wearing a tank top and shorts in the winter.
He worked on his willpower and physical conditioning. But still, he could never get stronger.
This was a strange phenomenon, because anyone else who followed these crazy methods would have become at least a decent powerhouse.
Yesterday was the day Roger was executed.
Loguetown was full of people, but there was an open space in the area at that moment.
Standing in the bedroom on the second floor, Rojen could clearly see Roger on the execution platform and could feel his calmness towards life and death. He had long understood that this day would come.
After Roger's death, Rojen's own danger would follow. The Marines would not spare anyone closely related to the Pirate King, and he, Gol D. Rojen, was their top target! Even though he was powerless, even though he was a weak and ordinary person.
"Rojen, stop looking, we have to go now!" The little girl, Jinx, pulled Rojen urgently.
She had already heard the hurried footsteps in the alley.
Just as Jinx pushed Rojen, she didn't notice that the young man suddenly stiffened, and a strange look crossed his face.
At the same time, a group of young men rushed out of the alley, all holding long swords, their faces fierce and intimidating.
"Rojen, don't even think about escaping!"
"Stand right there, don't move or we'll kill you!"
"Your elder brother is dead. You'd better surrender!"
Before they even reached him, the group began to shout loudly, their violent and oppressive presence making Jinx tremble with fear.
"You... you bastards, don't you remember how Roger tought you?" Jinx shouted at them bravely.
By now, the group had surrounded Rojen, forming a tight circle around him.
Hearing Jinx's voice, some of the people surrounding Rojen looked embarrassed. Indeed, they had once learned swordsmanship under Roger's tutelage. But... the bounty was just too tempting.
"Gold D. Rojen, bounty: 110 Million Belly!"
"Rojen, you are a great threat to the Marines. You are a criminal who defies justice. We have no choice but to do this. Sorry."
Some in the crowd continued to explain, but their greed was unmistakable.
Rojen, however, did not listen to Jinx or the others. He was absorbed in a mysterious system interface that had suddenly appeared in his mind. Just as the little girl had pushed him, a cold, electronic voice had sounded.
"Congratulations, host. The Strongest Possessed System has bound with the host."
"The host can exchange different amounts of Gold (world currency) for legendary people ghosts and possess them to gain powerful abilities."
"Alternatively, the host can use Possession Coins earned after defeating an opponent to gain the ghost's power.
"Finally, the host can specify the ghost during the first possession!"
The electronic voice finished with these words and a colorful interface appeared before Rojen's eyes.
"1,000 Belly grade, 10,000 Belly grade, 100,000 Belly grade, and so on, and finally, the Billion Belly Grade."
Rojen's expression became curious, and a smile formed on his face.
These grades, categorized by gold, were represented by seven color tags - red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple - each indicating the power level of a ghost.
He could now choose these spirit levels to possess and gain immense power.
At this moment, there were about twenty pursuers around him, and his bag contained exactly 10,000 Belly.
"All right, I won't hold back!"
"Trade for a red-class soul, Ye Wen (IP Man)!"
"I'll fight ten of them!"
