Chapter 36: An SS Rank Monster Emerges
"Bessie!!!"
"Masterrrrrrr!!!"
Sobin leaped towards his truck at breakneck speed, crashing into it as though it was a soft mattress and not a vehicle made almost entirely of metal. Still, he landed softly on Bessie's body, embracing it from the front as though she was a long lost relative.
"I'm so glad you're alright!" He cried out passionately. "They treated you well, right? You have no dents, you're all good, right?"
As Sobin asked this, he raised the truck with his bare hands and looked all over her body.
It almost seemed like he was carrying a child—his child—and not a heavy hunk of machinery. If he was in a populated area, many would have thrown him stares of surprise, but he was actually in a private residence prepared for him by Sharon.
The residence was actually in Zone E-46, and Bessie had been dropped off by the towing agents not long ago. The moment Sobin got the news, he sped to this place and began celebrating with his dear truck.
"Master! I've missed you so much!" Bessie's feminine voice sounded childlike at that moment, her cries permeating everywhere and everything.
"I've missed you too!"
Sobin spun while carrying her, both of them quickly breaking into loud giggles.
This was the first time they had been separated for more than a day, and it showed with how passionately they were acting. Just from this interaction, it was clear how much Sobin loved his truck, and how much she loved him.
At this point, they were practically family.
"So much has happened since I last saw you. Why don't I take you for a spin and tell you all about it?!"
"I can't wait!" Bessie roared her engine. "Hop in, Master! Let's do it!"
"Sweet!"
The two of them sped out of the frontier's main base and took a drive into the uninhabited zone to clear their head. Sobin felt too stifled within the walls of protection and sought the freedom that came with exploring the outside world.
Acting upon their superior's commands, the security officials didn't stop Sobin.
Even though Sobin was still A Rank, he was getting some S Rank treatments, especially by Sharon.
In fact, she was actually interested in seeing Sobin explore the uninhabited zones.
That way, she would be able to detect his true abilities and somewhat gauge his limits. As a result, there were no restrictions on his movements, which pleased Sobin.
As for the officers of Zone E-46, they couldn't help but sigh in relief that they didn't give Sobin a hard time when he first arrived. What started off as a misunderstanding among themselves had actually manifested in reality, even drawing in the head of leaders of the entire Sector E.
Sobin had become a hotshot practically overnight!
They were immensely grateful that they had treated him right and not asked any questions to make things difficult for him when he first arrived at the frontier. Now that he was an A Rank Rider with the direct backing of Sharon, he held more authority than them.
But did Sobin know this? Not really…
In his own head, he was simply a deliveryman on a ride with his beloved truck.
".... And as an A Rank Rider, we'll be going across Zones more often now. We'll be taking on more exciting missions, and complete even more Quests. Isn't that exciting, Bessie?"
"Sure is, Master!"
"System, tell us how many more Quests we have to complete now!"
[Well… 669,390,040 Quests remain. You've actally completed nearly half of them in such a short span of time. Well done!]
"See that, Bessie?" Sobin's eyes lit up. "We're nearly there! Once we finish these Quests, I'll finally be able to see my sugarplum again!"
"Yes, Master! Let's do our best!"
[Yeah… let's do our best…]
*********
[Meanwhile…]
A white-haired woman stood, arms folded in what resembled a realm of endless darkness.
She had been walking for quite some time, but there didn't seem to be an end in sight, so she had to admit the awful truth to herself: she was lost.
"Haa… what a bother." She shook her head and groaned. "System, how much longer until we leave this place?"
[At your current speed, it should take you about a few more days]
"A few more days? That's too much time, though!"
[Sorry, but there's nothing that can be done. This place is even larger than the surface of your Earth's sun, after all.]
"You've already mentioned that before… hm? Hold on, I think we have guests."
The white-haired woman paused before flicking her glasses and looking around her. In what seemed like seconds, she was suddenly surrounded by all sorts of grotesque creatures.
They were all S Rank Monsters, possessing varying shapes and sizes.
They looked disgusting, to say the least, and the smallest among them was about a thousand meters tall. These creatures made the Depcrawler King look like a toddler in comparison, and the sheer terror they radiated could instantly vaporize anyone in their presence.
One would expect this human female to be shitting herself upon their arrival, but her reaction was the opposite.
"K-K-Kaijus! They have Kaijus in this world too?!"
She was actually beaming with joy.
Her cheeks were burning up as her eyes obsessively took in the form of these Monsters.
"Jkria ajue aoaeon ahei aoeoaod…?"
"Hjd aoeoan Jaieid?"
"HSIAOFSN DAUEA AIIW LALA!"
The Monsters began to communicate among themselves, which caused her to frown slightly.
"System, translate what they're saying!"
[Understood!]
"This person… is she alright in the head…?"
"Where did she come from?"
"Does it matter? She has intruded on our land and has been terrorizing the younger ones for a while now!"
The woman listened to all of this, and many more, before quickly realizing what was going on.
'It seems I landed in a monster-exclusive zone, and my presence is actually disturbing these guys. Maybe I should just leave before causing too much troub—'
"HEY!" A voice suddenly echoed in the void, causing everything within it to tremble. "THIS IS THE END OF THE LINE FOR YOU, HUMAN…"
All the surrounding Monsters—S Rank, by the way—began to shiver as they made way for this new Monster to emerge seemingly out of nowhere.
It had an armored body that seemed to be made entirely of meteors, and its body radiated a brilliance equivalent to the sun. However, it shone purple, and everything around melted with every step it took.
Its two eyes glowed from within the majestic helmet on its head, and its husky voice also echoed from within it.
Most importantly… this creature was over 10,000 meters tall!
That was taller than the tallest mountain on Earth, Mount Everest! Its body was so high that one could not see the peak if they weren't of relatively tall height.
But this woman could clearly see everything.
She was only about 5'5 in height, but she had no issue sizing this absolute beast up.
"Hmm? Are you the leader of this place?" She asked fearlessly, still keeping her arms folded.
"I AM!" The creature growled. "I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO INVADE MY DOMAIN OR GOT TO SPEAK OUR LANGUAGE… BUT DON'T THINK OF GETTING OUT OF HERE ALIVE."
"Oh?" Her crimson eyes flashed in amusement. "Is that a threat?"
"HEHE… FOOLISH HUMAN! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO?"
"Erm… no?"
"THEN LET ME ENLIGHTEN YOU!"
The creature took a step forward and caused the ground to shake.
"I AM THE NIGHTSHADE EMPEROR! RULER OF MONSTERS, AND RIGHTFUL CONQUEROR OF THE WORLD! DECADES AGO, I LED A MIGHTY CONQUEST AND NEARLY RULED THIS WORLD, BUT WAS WOUNDED AND HAD TO RETREAT TO MY DOMAIN WHERE I HAVE BEEN AMASSING POWER EVER SINCE!"
The white-haired woman looked at the Nightshade Emperor's chest and indeed noticed a large scar there. She wondered what could have caused such wounds to such a gigantuan creature.
The S Rank Monsters around her were already unbelievably large, at about 1,000 meters, but this thing was ten times bigger.
It felt too unreal, but this was what excited her even more.
"Thanks for the introduction." She smiled and tilted her glasses. "My name's Shiro Usagi, but you can call me Usagi-chan. I believe I've been transmigrated into this world, but who would have expected so much to have happened before I even arrived…"
"ENOUGH NONSENSE! DIE!"
The Nightshade Emperor wasted no time and sent his fist charging at the white-haired lady.
It appeared as though the largest mountain was descending on her.
But… she was unmoved.
"Third Wheel: Aspect of Destruction…" She muttered, raising her fist.
Instantly, a mark appeared.
It glowed crimson, reflecting the color of her blazing eyes.
Sparks of lightning burst from it immediately, radiating all over the void world around her.
Then—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
—She launched a blow at the Nightshade Emperor.
For a moment, everything turned crimson… and then the world was permanently dyed in white.
The darkness had completely vanished.
And as for the Nightshade Emperor… he lay on the ground in crumbling pieces—defeated.
He had perished in one blow.
"E-Ehh?!"
All the S Rank Monsters around Shiro Usagi-chan were stunned by the sight.
Whether it was by instinct or common sense, they all threw aside their weapons and bowed their bodies. They quickly went on their knees, trembling before the grinning woman who seemed more like a Monster than them.
"W-we hail the mighty queen of destruction… heir of chaos, the new ruler of the Monsters… and rightful conqueror of the world."
"HAIL!
"HAIL!"
"HAIL!"
Shiro smiled at these Monsters in amusement, watching as the crimson mark on her body vanished. The sparks died down, and the pressure she emitted vanished.
"Kekeke… conquering this world, huh?" A chuckle echoed from within the white void that had now spread beyond its original mass under its new ruler.
"That sounds fun…"
