Chapter 36 - The Shocking Truth
Zheng Fang Xing and Zhang De Yuan stood up from the ground, removed their LockSeeds from the Sengoku Drivers, and reverted to their normal forms. Both of them wore expressions of discontent.
Being defeated by a young kid like Qing Mu, and not even lasting a minute in the fight, was a blow to their pride. They were experienced warriors, and this defeat was a significant loss of face.
Qing Mu, who had returned to his human form after deactivating Decade Drive, spoke to them, “You two have strong combat abilities; it’s just that your Rider Drives limit your true potential. It’s a bit unfortunate.”
Qing Mu’s base form had properties that were comparable to enhanced forms, thanks to his unique situation.
Zheng Fang Xing replied, “It’s alright, losing is part of the game. We’re not sore losers. Besides, we understand.”
Zhang De Yuan added, “You’ve obtained what you wanted. Can you tell us the reason behind your conflict with Eternal Technology Inc.? If we don’t get this matter cleared up, it won’t look good when we report back. Plus, it won’t benefit you either.”
Lin Qianqian chimed in as well, attempting to persuade Qing Mu, “Qing Mu, Eternal Technology Inc. is a major taxpayer in Dragon Country and wields significant influence in Yancheng. They even have a formidable private armed force. Your conflict with them has garnered attention from higher-ups. If you can’t provide a reasonable explanation, there might be more than just two of us coming next time. Do you understand what I’m getting at?”
Qing Mu was well aware of the implications. If he couldn’t provide a satisfactory explanation, Yancheng Defense Base might take action against him. The next visit could involve a larger group of Riders, and he could become the most wanted criminal in Dragon Country’s history. After all, it was unprecedented for anyone to be responsible for nearly a hundred casualties since the establishment of Dragon Country.
Qing Mu was the only one aware of these activities, and he raised his hands in resignation.
“Well, since you’re so eager to know, I’ll tell you. Eternal Technology Inc. conducts secret experiments on human subjects, transforming ordinary people into superhuman monsters to sell. I couldn’t stand by and watch, so I clashed with them and destroyed their research facility.”
“What?”
Upon hearing this, Lin Qianqian, Zhang De Yuan, and Zheng Fang Xing were all shocked.
“Qing Mu, do you know what you’re saying? That Eternal Technology Inc. is involved in something so horrifying, are you sure?” Lin Qianqian found it hard to believe and needed confirmation from Qing Mu.
In Lin Qianqian’s mind, Eternal Technology Inc. was a multinational cutting-edge corporation, wielding advanced technology, boundless wealth, and considerable influence. She never would have expected that behind the scenes, they were involved in such a terrible activity.
“I’ve seen it with my own eyes. They’ve established a massive underground base where they conduct inhumane experiments. I’ve even encountered and eliminated several of the Strengthened Type Smash monsters they created. I’m curious, they’ve been doing this for quite some time, and yet, you had no idea. It’s hard for me to understand what you guys are doing. Just having meals?” Qing Mu’s questioning left the three of them somewhat speechless.
Eternal Technology Inc. had operated on such a large scale behind the scenes, and the Yancheng Defense Base seemed entirely unaware. It was not just negligence but a significant oversight on their part.
No, it wasn’t merely an oversight; it was a grave lapse in their duties. If this matter were to be thoroughly investigated, many individuals at the Yancheng Defense Base would likely face consequences, including Lin Zhendong as the head.
Lin Qianqian sighed deeply and continued, “Qing Mu, there’s something you don’t know.”
“Eternal Technology Inc. holds a unique position.”
“They have branches all over the world.”
“When they initially established branches in Dragon Country, they made substantial donations of funds and urgently needed supplies for Dragon Country. Moreover, over the years, they have provided technical support to Dragon Country in secret.”
“Thanks to Eternal Technology Inc.’s assistance, Dragon Country has gained its current strength.”
“As a result, Eternal Technology Inc. enjoys a significant degree of autonomy within Dragon Country, to the extent that even the defense bases in various cities are not allowed to interfere with its operations.”
“If you hadn’t told us, we wouldn’t have known that Eternal Technology Inc. was involved in so many activities. This is indeed our oversight.”
The world Qing Mu was familiar with was quite different from the one he was currently experiencing.
Due to the ongoing havoc caused by various monsters, countries had relatively weak control over their territories. The world was truly dominated by powerful forces such as Eternal Technology Inc., which had the ability to create monsters and even produce Kamen Riders. Even within Dragon Country’s borders, Eternal Technology Inc. could operate independently and without interference from the country’s official authorities. Dragon Country’s officials also had to tread carefully around the immense power of Eternal Technology Inc.
“These matters are not my concern. Anyway, I’ve told you what you wanted to know. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. If you decide to oppose me because of Eternal Technology Inc., I don’t mind. I’m leaving now. Goodbye,” Qing Mu said as he turned and walked away.
Lin Qianqian didn’t try to stop Qing Mu. Both Zheng Fang Xing and Zhang De Yuan were no match for him when they teamed up, so trying to detain him at this point was pointless.
However, after walking some distance, Qing Mu suddenly stopped and turned back to Lin Qianqian. “By the way, do you know about the Underworld organization?”
Qing Mu was quite interested in the Underworld organization, but he lacked the investigative resources to gather information about them, so he decided to inquire with Lin Qianqian.
“Underworld? Qing Mu, why are you asking about Underworld?” Lin Qianqian inquired, her expression revealing that she did have some knowledge of the organization.
“It’s nothing serious. I’ve heard that this organization is quite formidable, and I’m itching for a challenge. If you happen to have any information on them, don’t worry, I won’t ask for it for free. You can name your conditions,” Qing Mu explained.
Lin Qianqian hesitated. Information about the Underworld organization was highly classified and not typically allowed to be disclosed. However, considering Qing Mu’s undeniable strength, his willingness to confront the Underworld could benefit both the Yancheng Defense Base and the Dragon Country authorities.
“I can’t make this decision on my own. I’ll need to consult with others. If the request is approved, I’ll come find you tomorrow,” Lin Qianqian replied.
“Alright, I’ll wait for your message. Goodbye,” Qing Mu said before finally departing. His figure disappeared into the darkness of the night.
