Starting Out with an Infinite Skill Tree!

Ch. 3

Chapter 3. Simulated Star-Creation Map —The Three Theories of Heaven: Canopy Heaven, Spherical Heaven, and Infinite Night!

“Idiot! He means become our son!” Helen corrected unhappily from the side.

‘No, you’re not any better either… That’s way too blunt.’

Yan silently watched the scene before him, deep in thought.

To become Baird’s son—

Strictly speaking, it would mean becoming the son of both him and Helen.

For a moment, Yan nearly thought Baird had been possessed by “Whitebeard.”

But in the end, he didn’t choose to refuse.

As they said, Yan was now “small and young,” “pitiful and helpless.”

He was nothing more than a weak “outsider.”

And without his memories, it was impossible for him to survive on his own in this world.

Hmm..

“……”

‘Fine, I’ll just take it as it is then!’

Thick-skinned as he was, Yan thought so to himself, though the corner of his lips couldn’t help but curve upward ever so slightly.

Lying on a soft bed, his head resting against the pillow, Yan lifted one hand and looked at the back of it.

That tender, pale palm—everything about it proved one undeniable truth: his body had truly returned to the age of a “youth.”

A faint, complicated emotion flickered in his eyes.

The kindness and warmth of Baird’s family constantly stirred his senses.

Was he… being swayed by this atmosphere, by the warmth of this household? For him to actually agree to such a “request”…

Well, in any case, from here on, his life in this other world would surely unfold in interesting ways!

If things followed the standard pattern of an RPG plot, as the protagonist, delightful events might very well keep coming his way.

Although Uncle Baird had kindly offered to adopt him—a lost child who had “lost his memories” and was without a home—

Yan knew the truth: his strength was far from as weak as it appeared.

Even alone, he could survive just fine.

Within this delicate young body resided a soul far more mature than its outward age suggested. That was one thing.

But more importantly—Yan hadn’t come into this “world” completely empty-handed.

Back on the very day he first opened his eyes here, his golden finger (cheat) had awakened.

…Closing his eyes, Yan allowed his consciousness to sink into a wondrous state of “inner vision.”

His awareness now stood within a space as deep and vast as the cosmos itself.

Countless streaks of starlight flowed down from above, illuminating his vision.

Beneath his feet stretched an unimaginably beautiful, azure planet.

That planet looked nearly identical to the “Earth” he had known before his transmigration. In the far distance, he could even glimpse the blazing brilliance of a “white star.”

His consciousness-form stood suspended at the very center of this cosmic void.

Before his eyes, a faceted prism-like crystal glimmered with incomparably gentle starlight.

This was the core of that consciousness-cosmos, the “instrument” through which he observed the world.

At its heart lay the “principles of concept”—composed of the Three Theories of Heaven: the Canopy Heaven Theory, the Spherical Heaven Theory, and the Infinite Night Theory.

These were the three great schools of thought that ancient humanity had devised in their attempt to understand the universe.

Three perspectives for exploring the cosmos. And if traced back to the source, they were all evolutions of the dual forces of Yin and Yang.

In the past, there had been the belief that “The sun, moon, and myriad stars naturally float within the void, and their movements above all rely upon qi.”

The ancients had imagined the heavens as celestial bodies drifting within a sea of qi. As this idea developed, they even proposed that the celestial bodies themselves—distant stars and the Milky Way alike—were composed of the interweaving of Yin and Yang.

Astonishingly, such thoughts held by the ancients actually align with many conclusions reached by modern astronomy.

From the Canopy Heaven Theory’s “Heaven is round and Earth is square.”

To the Spherical Heaven Theory’s use of an “armillary sphere” to observe celestial bodies.

And finally, to the Infinite Night Theory’s infinite cosmic view of “ecliptic, celestial equator, and structure of celestial bodies.”

Humanity’s understanding of the mysterious, the unknown universe, has continuously evolved through this process.

And now, within Yan’s consciousness, a 【Cosmology】 had inexplicably emerged—one that combined the “Three Theories of Heaven” with their very essence: the infinite potential for evolution.

This was his golden finger.

Simply put, through this “golden finger,” he now possessed the power to explore the hidden laws that governed all mysteries of the world, to rapidly learn them, and to put them into practice.

The reason he could so quickly learn this world’s “language” and converse freely with Giselle and the others was precisely thanks to this power.

No matter how incredible the 'miracle' or 'knowledge' is—even the truth of the world itself—as long as he makes conscious contact with it, he can quickly learn and fully grasp it.

This unreasonable power reminded Yan of a light novel he had once read before transmigrating:

—Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren’t They? and its concept of the【Simulated Star Creation Map】.

Now that Yan had grasped such a wondrous cosmological theory, all mysteries of the world could no longer remain hidden from him.

As time went on, the more mysteries he mastered, the clearer his understanding of the “world” would become.

And when he finally reached full mastery of this power—no external power【Mystery】, would ever again be able to harm him.

Magic, psychic powers, sorcery, curses, divine authority… all abilities would lose their effect before him.

In some ways, this was an even more terrifying power than the so-called “Imagine Breaker.”

And since this world was one where magic truly existed, Yan had no worries at all that his “golden finger” might end up useless.

Even if this were an ordinary, mundane world, through the Three Theories of Heaven, with their principle of “observing” celestial bodies, Yan could still search out “other worlds” 【celestial bodies】 and transmigrate to them.

Yes, he could even cross into other worlds.

Though that would consume a vast amount of “time.”

The 【Simulated Star-Creation Map】 would automatically observe and seek out new “celestial bodies.”

If luck was on his side, he might even find the coordinates that would lead him back to “Earth.”

His consciousness returned to reality—

Yan’s vision shifted back to the bedroom.

“Having gained such a powerful ability isn’t bad at all. Looks like the future won’t be boring.”

A thick anticipation welled up in Yan’s eyes.

To not waste this perfect “flawless gift” of the【Simulated Star-Creation Map】, he should begin by learning this world’s magic—

Compared to the planet he once lived on, which had no mysteries at all, this beautiful little town of another world held endless interesting things waiting for him to discover!

With that thought, Yan curved his lips into a smile. In his vision, the palm of his outstretched hand clenched tightly into a fist—gripping hard!

“Wind! Obey my command!”

With a loud cry, he attempted to once again recreate that magic which had appeared at the moment of crisis and saved him.

The structure of the spell, its theory, its trajectory of operation—all surfaced clearly within his mind.

At that instant, the starlight of the【Simulated Star-Creation Map】became incomparably radiant and mysterious!

The “magical circuits” within Yan’s body were flung wide open. Elements from the atmosphere surged madly into him, and from within Yan’s body, a frail yet utterly terrifying magical power was born.

Boom!

Like a furnace roaring to life, the newborn magic within him began to boil and churn at high speed.

Unlike the faint-blue magic that the villagers commonly held, Yan’s was being compressed to an extreme degree.

From the ordinary blue of others, it shifted—darkening, condensing—until it became a blood-red power that exuded an aura of menace.

And the entire process took no more than five seconds—

His magical circuits had already been fully opened. The circuits flooded with magic, even reaching the point of ultimate compression! Hoo~!

As the blazing furnace gradually calmed—

Yan had completed the entire process of shedding his mortal state and becoming a mage.

“magic”—a power inherently dangerous by nature.

Yet for Yan to complete its compression at such a reckless speed, and still so stably—

If Baird were to find out, he’d likely be shocked into utter blankness.

Even if a Grand Mage were still alive today, they would never dare to attempt such madness!
