Starting my new life as the Ancestral God

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: It's lonely at the top

With a satisfied smile, the five-meter-tall giant looks at the human youth in the centre of the open temple.

The youth sits gently meditatively, shimmering with magical lights that lead to a breakthrough, and exuding an aura that only ancestral gods could emit.

Beneath the youth, the glowing runes that illuminate the patterns on the temple's floor shine in their splendour, making the temple so magical and divine.

The temple is constructed of unique and ancient stones, and its pillars resemble ancient structures.

The temple, along with all of the buildings, sits on a floating mountain in the centre of the void where there is no sun or clouds, but daylight lights up the structures as if it were a normal day.

BOOM!

The youth unleashes a powerful explosion from his body, and he opens his eyes in elation.

"Master, I have achieved a breakthrough. I have reached the pinnacle of my cultivation. Hahaha! I have truly become your peer."

The human youth exclaimed with excitement as he rose from his meditative position, but to his surprise, the giant man's smile vanished, especially after hearing the youth's last words.

When he noticed the changes in his demeanour, the youth could not hide his worry, "Master, what is the matter?"

This giant before him has spent over a million years training him to attain the pinnacle of spiritual cultivation. Instead of happiness for this grand achievement, the giant's expression appeared to be one of sorrow.

The giant has spent a million years training him for this day. Now that the day has arrived and the human youth has reached the pinnacle, the giant suddenly seems distant.

The giant let out a deep sigh, which only added to his melancholic presence. In a low voice, he spoke, "Luidwish, my son. I am truly proud that I have transformed someone with your average talents into a being of greater height, equal to this lord. However, all this time, I have refused to explain the reason behind my actions."

Luidwish is the name of the human youth, and after over a million years with him, the giant seemed to regard him as a son rather than a disciple. This demonstrates the relationships that they have built over the years.

For all these years, the two of them had spent their days together, alone in the void. Luidwish has never seen the old giant's melancholy side until today, even though the two of them have learned everything there is to know about the other party.

"The day has finally arrived, Luidwish, my successor. Today, you will take over the void as its new master, allowing this old man to rest eternally. Please, do not fight it. I made this decision long ago, even before you were born." The old man explained his reasoning, leaving Luidwish no room for debate.

"Master, what do you mean?" The perplexed Luidwish spoke with concern and puzzlement on his face. He had always assumed the old man was lonely and was preparing him to be his true eternal companion. He never thought of himself as a sort of his successor.

"You have now reached the final stage of Ancestral God. The same height as me, the primal God. How can you have issues hearing or understanding? I mean that you are the new owner of this temple, and I, the primal God, am entrusting all of my legacies to you." The gigantic old man spoke strongly as if reprimanding a child.

"Master... I... Are you dying?" Luidwish was experiencing the shock of his life. He believes that the gods have eternal life. His master's comments sounded to him like a dying man handing off his inheritance to a loyal successor.

"You are a muddlehead. How could you be so slow? Did I make the wrong decision in choosing you?" The old man spoke with a straight face, but Luidwish knew he was joking, but he still asked.

"Master, what is going on? And please clarify why you regard me as your successor rather than your lifetime companion. Why are you speaking as if you are leaving me behind?"

The giant turned his back on Luidwish and gazed into the distance with a sigh. "I have existed since the beginning of time and have witnessed all that life has to offer. I am tired of it all. When I chose to isolate myself, I hoped to find peace in this void. Instead, my depression deepened. I almost resorted to suppressing my own emotions, but what would be the point? What is the purpose of striving to go on when you no longer find joy in life?"

"I sought someone who truly appreciates life, someone who would cherish my legacy. In my search, I found you on that ordinary blue planet, a place devoid of spiritual energy. You resonated well with me in many ways more than anyone else, except for your passion for life. When it comes to embracing the joy of living, none are as enthusiastic as you are in the entire cosmos. I thought maybe it was because of your mortality, but even after a million years, you didn't change a bit. Believe me, I have searched everywhere for my successor, and you are the most suitable person I could find who has the passion to enjoy just living despite the difficult challenges you faced in your short life. Even with your average talent for spiritual cultivation, I chose you solely because you aspire to live, even amid the turmoils you faced in your life."

Luidwish remained quiet, unable to speak due to shock. It was the first time he heard this, and he had no idea the old man was depressed after living for so long.

"I am pleased with you, my son. As I fall into my eternal slumber, I am giving you everything I have. I am not preventing you from leaving this void; you can go find companions and enjoy life in the God realm. But note one thing important. I adored this temple and built it with my whole heart. Please do not abandon it, my son. Take it with you."

"Master, I have a question," Luidwish said with a heavy heart.

"Shoot."

"Master, if you can find more companions, have wives, children, and friends, would not that—"

"Nonsense!" The old giant interrupted, "I understand what you are thinking. Cease that thought of yours. Remember what I taught you, son, and do not let me down."

"But..."

"It is time for me to part ways with you. Remember everything I have taught you."

With that, the old giant began to shed his body, which became dust and floated away into the void, not even leaving his godly corpse behind.

Luidwish's eyes welled up with tears, and he wished to speak with the old man further, but the old man did not give him another glance before disappearing into nothingness.

"Remember everything I have taught you, son." His voice echoed in the void, and his spiritual power could no longer be sensed by Luidwish.

After a long moment of silence, Luidwish gazed into the void with a heavy heart, finally speaking words he never thought he would say.

"Lord of the void, Zurack Dwin. I will sincerely follow the ways you have taught me, my dear master. Goodbye... master..." Luidwish forced his voice up on his chest and spoke the heavy words that he wasn't prepared to utter.
