Star wars Rebels: Unwilling

Chapter 6: Chapter Six

"So... Tell me again, what part of Let's make the deal alone did you not understand?"

I asked, my arms to my sides as I stared at a man named Lando Calrissian.

The man chuckled, waving a hand dismissively.

"Can you blame me? You have gathered quite the reputation for yourself, my young friend, I just wanted a little protection."

I hummed, my eyes scanning over the men he brought with him, two lizards and one human, easy enough to take down if he tried anything.

"Do you have what I need?"

My eyes traveled back to him, my body relaxed, but ready to engage as the Force swirled around me in preparation.

Thankfully, he nodded, reaching behind him slowly and taking out a gray mask with golden engravings, the eyes filled out with the same material as a normal visor would be, the strap dangling in the air.

"Here you are, my young friend, just as you requested."

I reached out, palm up as the mask was put in my hand, the force pulsed through the material, as I tried to find any tracking devices. Surprisingly, there were none.

I nodded, satisfied, and he reached behind him again, taking out silver credit ingots, and making a show of counting them, putting them in a pouch five at a time.

I kept the mask at my side as I watched, unimpressed for a few seconds before he finally reached a hundred and twenty. Pulling the strings on the pouch, he handed it to me, holding it in the air.

I reached next to me, to the three connected crates, and pushed them forward, as he dropped the pouch in my hands.

"Pleasure doing business with you my friend, always a pleasure, Let's keep in touch."

I nodded as the three men he brought, came over, grabbing a crate each to take them to the vehicle he came with.

Lando turned around, heading back with them and I did too, walking towards the speeder, getting on and starting it.

Leaning to the side as it surged forward, I turned and sped off back into the city, pulling off my makeshift mask I made from my old clothes and putting the mask on my face, tightening the strap.

It was perfect.

I adjusted it on my face with one hand, straightening the rebreather on my mouth.

That was one of the jobs done.

___

"You're back!"

Ezra shouted as I entered the communications tower, running up to me. I looked down at him with a raised eyebrow, wondering what he was so excited about.

"I did it! I did the thing!"

I blinked, what thing? What was he talking about?

"What do you mean?"

Instead of answering, Ezra just turned around and I could feel the Force reaching out from him, wrapping around a cup and floating it closer.

... That's what he was excited about?

"So... you can move things closer now... neat."

I patted his head.

"No, no, no, this!"

He threw out his hand in an exaggerated motion, and the cup barreled towards the wall, hitting it as a distinct sound of something hitting metal rang out in the room.

Oh, Force push, nice, that was a bit better.

"Ooooh~."

I ruffled his hair, grinning.

"Good job, kid."

He beamed, too excited to care that I was messing up his hair. his eyes traveled down my form, stopping on the mask in my hand.

"What's that?"

I looked down at the mask and held it out for him to hold.

"I got this today, I'll be using it whenever I go out from now on."

The mask was snatched from my hand as Ezra looked it over, observing it like a cat would observe something that didn't have its scent in the house.

"...Cool..."

He whispered, looking at the engravings on the mask, causing me to question whether or not I would be keeping the mask at all if he was so fascinated by it, there was no guarantee that he wouldn't ask for it.

"Can I have one?"

There it was. I chuckled, my shoulders shaking with amusement in response to his question.

"When you get older, we don't want your mask falling off your face, would we?"

Ezra pouted like the child that he was, looking down at the mask wistfully.

I sighed.

"I'll get you a mask when you're a little older, alright?"

Though still disappointed, he handed the mask back to me. I grabbed it, placing it on the table.

"Don't be so down, Ezra, I'll get you a mask when you're big enough for them to fit, okay?"

He looked at me with his bottom lip sticking out.

"Promise?"

He asked, unintentionally looking like a puppy dog as he did. I nodded in affirmation and he eased up slightly.

I pulled out the small bag of sweets, which were snatched from my hand the second they came into view.

The kid had a sweet tooth, and I couldn't blame him, even on Lothal, sweets were better then those I remembered in my past life.
