Chapter 30: Mr Suk Madeek
"Drop some of your blood on it's roots. I'll do the same and then, we can awaken the spirit." he said as he took out a sharp knife out of think air and sliced his palm first. Nina gave the middle aged man a knife that was sheathed on her hips.
The tribesmen saw the blood drip onto the huge roots that were exposed above the ground. For a few seconds, there were no changes. Lukas began moving, looking extremely serious while he raised his hands to clap as he stomped on the ground.
Soon, the air around them felt serene. The leaves on the tree began to fall as the tree warped slowly, forming a gorgeous figure of a curvy and well endowed lady. The remaining huge branches on her head fell to the ground before burrowing into the ground.
As the branches fell and burrowed into the earth, several tribesmen stumbled back, clutching at one another. A child screamed. Even the warrior woman who had doubted him stood frozen, lips trembling.
Slowly, a huge and ferocious looking boar grew out of the soil beside the woman's statue. Lukas didn't stop when he saw this as he continued his weird movements, walking around the "Totem" with powerful stomps while clapping.
The figure of the beautiful woman and the boar began to merge as they formed a compressed and heavy wooden pole with multiple symbols and drawings.
'Goddess of life… please help me complete my mission.' Lukas prayed as he stood in front of the wooden totem that was almost complete.
When he turned around, he saw the whole tribe silently shedding tears of happiness as they cast their gaze on the totem. Feeling a little overwhelmed, Lukas turned to look at the totem to calm himself.
The importance of a totem for a tribe had far exceeded his expectations. He looked at the symbols on the totem and could vaguely understand what they meant.
It was the goddess of life and a huge black boar watching over the tribe with the shaman as the middleman.
Taking a deep breath, he turned around and looked at the warrior woman, "Now, the final step. Does everyone here accept me as the Black Boar's shaman?"
There was no hesitation in the woman's eyes as she nodded and yelled, "WE ACCEPT YOU AS OUR LIGHT, OH HONORABLE SHAMAN!!"
Roars erupted as the other tribesmen repeated her words, almost like they were chanting.
Small blobs of light floated towards the totem before a lazer like beam shot towards Lukas. He felt a comfortable warmth as a system screen appeared in front of him. It had a list of two hundred and eight names.
New information entered his mind as he nodded to himself. He clicked on one of the names mentally and saw the status screen and stat screen of that person pop up.
'So a shaman has access to the information of every tribe member. This… they trust people way too easily.' he thought, but then noticed the change he felt within him. He felt weirdly stronger even though all of his stats except mana were at 9.
Feeling slightly impatient, he checked his job description.
[Job - Shaman]
Shamans can control the elements at a basic level. While not having a group to guide, they will be able to use the totem creation ritual.
Awakened Shaman: Once a group has selected you as their leader, you will have better control of the elements, higher chance of success with rituals and unlock the ability to give blessings and curses. The strength of a shaman's abilities depends on the size of the group and the strength of the group's faith.
'Now I understand…' he thought as he looked at the description. The information of Awakened Shaman was not available to him earlier.
"Take me to your young shaman." he said as he looked at the tribe. This time, the one who took responsibility to guide him, was the middle aged man who gave his blood to create the totem.
Lukas followed him and entered one of the only few huts nearby. Once inside, he saw a small child sitting on the floor with a piece of charcoal in it's hand.
"Our shaman is too young at the moment. We've been attacked multiple times and we've lost many members in attempts to keep our shaman safe. I hope that you can keep our tribe safe until he grows up to take up the responsibility. Once he comes of age, you will be able to evolve into a grand shaman."
As someone who planned on leaving after an year, Lukas didn't make any verbal promises. Instead, he nodded and looked around. There wasn't much other than a few woollen blankets, a wooden chest and a few wooden utensils.
Seeing the new shaman's gaze lock onto the chest, the middle aged man hesitated for a moment.
"That chest… was left behind by our ancestors. Based on what my father told me, only the fated one can open it."
'Fated one my ass…' Lukas thought as he nodded and walked to the chest. On top of it were a few words from an extremely familiar language.
'English…' he thought as he looked behind him, "Nina, can you read this?"
She shook her head after just a single glance.
'Right… the people from our country mostly speak Hentic. And the language of these tribals is also a universal one in this island. The only problem is that there are two languages that the people use.' he thought before glaring at the chest.
"I am a monkey." he said in English and a moment later it automatically opened.
Lukas took a deep breath as he turned to look at the middle aged man. With a glance at a screen in front of him, he said "Otak. Does this mean I'm the fated one?"
Otak nodded but didn't dare make eye contact as he kept his gaze stuck to the floor.
Shrugging, Lukas looked into the chest to find book with a thickness of one inch. On the cover the words written in English said;
A Master's Guide to Mutation Rituals
