Chapter 83: The First Saintess (Part 3)
To their amazement, those with bandaged wounds watched as their injuries began healing.
While those with amputated limbs gasped in shock as their missing parts began regenerating from the stumps.
It was a mass miracle beyond anything they could have imagined.
"..."
But the most incredible sight was behind Celis herself.
A faint image of a goddess began to appear, translucent but unmistakably divine.
She had the same flowing golden hair as Celis, but her face was completely blurred, as if too perfect for mortal eyes to perceive clearly.
The goddess had a prestigious divine form that reminded everyone of the warmest memories from their past.
Childhood comfort, parental love, moments of pure joy - all of it came flooding back as the goddess sang beautifully in harmony with Celis.
People began crying tears of joy as their souls felt rejuvenated.
Some hugged each other spontaneously, overwhelmed by the emotional cleansing.
Even Jin, standing at Nero's side, felt moved as she chuckled to herself.
"You know, it's okay to cry," she teased Nero gently, nudging him.
"..."
But she was stunned when she saw the clouded and bittersweet expression on his face, unlike the pure joy everyone else was experiencing.
"... Hey, Nero."
She called his name with concern.
"Yeah?"
He snapped out of his thoughts, blinking as he refocused on her.
"Are you okay? You look..."
"Yeah, I'm fine," he said with a forced smile. "... Just remembered some things from the past."
He laughed it off as if it was nothing significant.
"But hey, the sight before us really is miraculous, isn't it?"
Jin nodded in agreement, though a bit delayed as she continued studying his expression, but decided to let it go, as it probably was something personal to him he couldn't share with just anyone.
"..."
Before long, the miraculous warm golden light began to settle and concentrate.
A faint orb of purple light manifested above Yui's chest, visible to everyone's mesmerized gazes.
The orb pulsed gently, like a heartbeat made of pure life energy.
And then slowly, it then slowly settled inside her as the visage of the goddess behind Celis flew over to Yui and kissed her forehead before giggling for a bit and disappearing completely.
The perhaps playful giggle of the visage lingered on the air for a moment before every miraculous light and energy settled down and disappeared.
"..."
Under the tense and hopeful silence, Haori was the first to speak with a nervous voice.
"D-Did it work?" she stuttered, a faint feeling of hope was surging in her chest, awaiting for an answer that could either fill her heart with joy or grief.
"..."
Celis smiled gently and nodded her head with serenity.
And as if on cue...
"..."
A faint twitch on her finger came from Yui's previously still form.
Her chest began rising and falling with genuine breathing.
Her complexion returned to a healthy rose color as the black veins disappeared completely from her body.
And then…
"..."
Her eyes slowly opened.
And the first thing that came into her sight was her mother's tear-stained face.
"... Mom?"
Yui's voice was weak but unmistakably alive and aware.
"YUI!"
Haori was immediately overcome with emotions, crying and hugging her daughter desperately.
"My baby, my precious baby, you're okay!"
"M-Mom…! hicc…"
The long awaited reunion made the two of them weep with the tears of joy as everyone watching them felt emotional at the sight.
It was truly a long journey despite it being just a month.
The amount of challenges and sadness they had to endure through the days and nights… the worry of asking the safety of your family and the longing of a mother for the condition of her daughter…
At last, they finally met.
And Nero fulfilled his words… although, it was rough along the way.
"..."
Meanwhile, Juno stood at the side, watching his family cry and embrace.
He felt a bit overwhelmed, wiping the water that was forming at the edge of his eyes despite his attempts to maintain composure.
And Nero, who saw this, approached him quietly,
"Aren't you going to join them?"
"... There's no need."
Juno shook his head slightly.
But Nero chuckled and slapped his back, urging him forward.
"!!!"
Juno snapped out of his emotional look as he grimaced at the slight pain in his back.
… Heck, just how strong is Nero Walker now?
Although he isn't a melee fighter, he is still a level 32 mage now from the recent level ups with at least 2.7 in STR stat.
But that thought was thrown out of the window when he heard the words come out from Nero,
"What are you talking about? Go reunite with your family. You should spend time with them, you know?"
As he began to walk away, he called back over his shoulder with words that lingered on Juno's mind,
"... Treasure them as if it's your last day. You never know when you might lose them, and miracles don't happen twice. You should cherish the moment as if it's the last, as you could never know when you would lose them again."
He waved his hand in casual farewell.
"... Yeah, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you..."
Juno called after him, his voice was thick with emotion and gratitude.
Then he rushed to reunite with his daughter and wife, making the scene even more emotional for everyone watching.
It was the sound of the families reuniting, the joyous occasion of their tears of joy and long-awaited reunion and victory.
"Where are you going?" Jin called out as she noticed Nero heading toward the exit.
"I still have some things to do," he replied without turning around.
"I shall take my leave too along with Lord Nero."
And soon afterward, Aurelia followed, bowing politely to the celebrating crowd.
"Ah! Wait, Savior…"
It looked like Celis also wanted to come and speak with her Savior - as she didn't even know his name yet.
But considering all the healers and grateful people crowding around her, thanking her and asking questions about her miraculous abilities,
"..."
The gentle Saintess could only smile wryly and relent to entertaining the joyous crowd.

"..."
"..."
Outside, Nero and Aurelia walked together in comfortable silence.
The celebration sounds from inside grew fainter with each step.
A faint sigh was released from his mouth as the burden of the someone quite close to him losing her life was lifted from his shoulder.
It was a close call.
He had to thank the system once again for the miraculous save, and for being able to prevent the tragedy waiting for them.
[No no, Master! It's the Master's decision why we can prevent a tragedy from happening! Aria is happy if the Master is happy!]
Aria chimed at his thankfully thoughts, sounding proud and genuinely satisfied that she could be of help to him.
'Yeah, thanks.'
[Master is very much welcome!]
Nero couldn't help but faintly smile.
Looking forward, there were still a lot of things to do and settle.
Not to mention about finding out more about the features of his new systems and other questions about it, there was still the question about Celis Verillia.
And then there was this thing,
[2nd Trial: Outlander Invasion has been sped up: 359 D, 21 hrs, 43 mins, 12 sec. → 39 D, 09 hrs, 56 mins, 17 sec.]
A faint flashing red notification about this 2nd Trial.
If the start of the apocalypse and all the shit that has happened so far is the 1st Trial, Nero couldn't even imagine what this 2nd Trial entails…
'Outlander Invasion… Does that mean some sort of aliens?'
It was just a wild guess based on the words, but it's definitely off putting if it's some sort of alien invasion or the like…
Mixing fantasy with sci-fi… just what the hell would happen to the world if it's the case by then?
"..."
Nero could only shake his head at the chaos that it would bring, and so he pulled his ultimate card,
'I'll leave it to the future Nero.'
There was nothing he could do much about it other than focus on himself and get even stronger and utilize his new system to do it, and not to mention there were other things that he needs to focus on for now.
And one of them,
"... Lord Nero?"
Involves this newly transformed angel cutely tilting her head to him in confusion.
Finally, the time when they were alone has come.
It's time to stop worrying about the things that are clouding his thoughts.
It's time to face it.
The strange violet sky of their transformed world covers over their head, and judging from the orange tint, it could be said that it's most likely sunset as the presence of the Saturn sun was disappearing from the distance.
With sight and realization in mind, Nero couldn't help but think out loud unconsciously,
"... Right, that also happened at the same point of time."
Although he doesn't know if it's a coincidence or if it's fated, Nero could only smile wryly.
"Pardon?"
"... Nothing. Just thinking to myself."
"..."
Although Aurelia was confused, especially sensing her Lord's emotions in turmoil, she can't help but get a bit curious and worried at what he's currently thinking for him to have such an expression on his face.
"... Haaah."
As Nero looked at the strangely calming and beautiful scenery, he then breathed out a long mouthful of air.
And with a hint of resolve in his dull black eyes,
'... Alright, let's do this.'
The time to confess had come.
