Chapter 82: The First Saintess (Part 2)
Intricate patterns of light began forming in the air above Kaito's body, geometric designs that looked like they'd been drawn by divine hands.
*Pulse... pulse... pulse...*
Each pattern pulsed in rhythm with some cosmic heartbeat, and as they did, the black veins visible beneath Kaito's skin began to recede.
"By the light of the eternal dawn," Celis began to chant, her voice was so captivating that everyone was focused on what she was doing.
"Let corruption flee before purity's flame."
The golden light intensified, and everyone could see the toxins being systematically purged from his system.
But it wasn't just removal - it was transformation.
The dark energy was being converted into something beneficial, strengthening his natural healing processes.
"..."
She moved to Haru next, repeating the process but adjusting the magical patterns to account for his specific condition.
The geometric designs in the air shifted and evolved, becoming even more complex as they addressed the different concentration of toxins in his system.
"Let life triumph over the shadow of death," she continued, her chanting growing more powerful.
"Let the spark of existence burn bright once more."
*Flash!*
As the warm yellow glow reached its peak intensity, both Kaito and Haru's complexions began returning to normal.
The sickly gray pallor faded away, replaced by healthy pink skin.
The black veins that had mapped their internal damage simply vanished.
Most importantly, their labored breathing became deep and steady.
They looked like they were sleeping peacefully rather than dying slowly.
"..."
Everyone held their breath as the light gradually faded.
The healers who immediately rushed forward to check their conditions gasped in amazement.
"Unbelievable! T-Their vital signs are completely normal!"
"All traces of toxin are gone!"
"It's like they were never poisoned at all!"
The medical wing erupted into celebration as Kaito and Haru's parents broke down in tears of pure joy.
Yuki threw herself across Kaito's sleeping form, sobbing with relief.
Genya smiled in relief as he watched Haru's peaceful breathing return.
Everyone was thanking Celis, their voices overlapping in a chorus of gratitude.
But Celis simply smiled gently and raised her hand for silence.
"'Tis no matter," she said with characteristic humility.
"However, these young ones must rest deeply. The poison that did invade their bodies was consuming their mana reserves, which in turn drained their very life force."
She looked directly at the parents gently.
"They shall awaken once their bodies have gathered sufficient energy. Until then, let them sleep undisturbed."
The parents nodded eagerly, hanging on every word.
The healers immediately took charge of monitoring the boys' recovery, their professional excitement evident as they observed the impossible healing.
*BOOM!*
But then suddenly, the door slammed open as Ren and Hina burst into the medical wing.
And judging from Ren's ragged breath and Hina's intense expression it seems they rushed towards here.
"... Kaito!"
"HARU!"
Their eyes immediately landed on Kaito and Haru respectively, and they rushed forward to check their children's conditions.
It seemed someone had gone to deliver the miraculous news to the two who had been busy interrogating Vincent.
Although Nero was tempted to ask what had happened to that bastard from the two, he knew the real miracle hadn't happened yet.
And the crowd noticed this shift as the somber atmosphere returned.
Their eyes somberly landed on Haori and Juno, who still had devastatingly sad expressions as they looked at Yui's motionless body.
"..."
The celebration died down as reality reasserted itself.
Two children were saved, but one was still gone.
Nero broke the depressing atmosphere by stepping forward.
"What are you guys being sad about?"
His casual tone made everyone look at him in confusion.
"The real miracle hasn't happened yet."
Then he turned to Celis with an expression of hope with a bit of wry smile.
"I know I'm already asking a lot, considering it's the first time we've met... but could you do it?"
"..."
There was a moment of absolute silence as everyone processed what he was asking.
Celis looked at the still figure of Yui, her gaze taking in the completely white and pale skin, the body overtaken by black veins, and most importantly... the lack of a soul's presence.
For a moment, Nero was worried that even this godly saintess had limits.
And then Celis spoke thoughtfully.
"Had her soul not been revived within a week, I couldst no longer restore her; for thy spirit wouldst be scattered and returned unto the grace of the hallow'd land…"
She paused, studying Yui's form more intently.
"... However."
She smiled gently, and that expression carried more hope than any of them had felt in days.
"Her soul imprint is still faintly present. 'Tis weak, but sufficient for my purposes."
Her voice carried absolute confidence as she made her declaration.
"I can restore her to life."
"!!!"
Nero's face split into a massive grin while others - even Aurelia - looked not just shocked but completely flabbergasted.
Everyone became hyped instantly, especially so for the parents.
Juno and Haori and the rest of the parents rushed toward Celis with bloodshot eyes and energized bodies, crowding around her desperately.
"Is it true?!"
"Can you really bring her back?!"
"Please, please tell me it's possible!"
Celis was a bit taken aback by their intense reactions as they pressed close to her.
Nero could only smile wryly as he stepped in to manage the situation.
"You guys… please calm down and give her some space to work."
Meanwhile, Aurelia, who had recovered from her initial shock, found herself frowning deeply.
Since she had regained her past memories, she knew how incredibly difficult it was to return a person from the dead.
Resurrection involved handling a person's soul, which was a realm traditionally reserved for creator deities like the Heavenly Father.
Based on her memories from eons past, reviving the dead had been the impossible dream of all mortal and supernatural healers.
It was also why such attempts were often associated with dark arts, giving birth to necromancy.
Countless ages had passed since her own revival by her Lord Nero, so she didn't know if there were discrepancies with her knowledge and modern developments.
But as far as she knew, true resurrection was almost impossible.
Even the most powerful beings could only achieve reincarnation - transferring fragments of souls to new bodies while losing most of their power at most preserving their memories and some of their unique abilities.
… Could that be what this Celis was actually doing?
As Aurelia pondered these concerns silently, her eyes suddenly widened as a certain memory resurfaced.
On a certain squad mission, one of the Valkyries had gossiped about a genius mortal who could revive the dead being a hot topic amongst the dimension of Fantasia.
As serious and uptight as always, Aurelia in her prime at that time had only listened half-heartedly, even scolding that comrade of hers to focus on their duties at the time.
But she did somewhat remember that the woman was said to be a genius priestess who would soon be crowned as the first Saintess of the mortal world.
"..."
Although the memories were vague, she did still remember it.
And the implications made her study Celis with a frown.
If her suspicions were correct, this was really no ordinary healer.
Although she doesn't know if she is the same person as the one from her memories, as someone who experienced a lot of things throughout her life, she knew that the woman also had a sense of mystery and maturity that could only be found by those who had lived for a long time…
One thing is for sure though, the question of how she lived up to this day and how she became a "summon" like her could be solved by the mysterious power of her Lord Nero.
And as expected, her respect for him only grew day by day, as the surprise of him owning such a prominent Saintess as his summon only made her nod as if it was normal.
"..."
Meanwhile, Celis had positioned herself beside Yui's bed, sitting gracefully beside her frail figure.
And what followed next was a display that transcended mere healing magic and entered the realm of divine miracle.
*Hmmm….*
Golden light began pouring from Celis's entire body once more, far more intense than anything she'd used on the boys.
Her ceremonial robes billowed lightly as if moved by sacred winds, and her hair seemed to float weightlessly around her like a halo.
"O Lord thy Almighty…"
She then began to sing - not just hum, but truly sing in a voice that seemed to contain the essence of every lullaby ever sung by loving mothers.
The melody was so beautiful it even made hardened survivors be moved a little as everyone's hearts were filled with memories of safety and love.
The warm golden light expanded outward, embracing everyone in the medical wing.
To their amazement, people with bandaged wounds watched as their injuries began healing.
Those with amputated limbs gasped in shock as their missing parts began regenerating from the stumps.
It was a mass miracle beyond anything they could have imagined.
