SPIDER-MAN

Chapter 65: 65) Playing With Fire

ICEMAN

In the middle of a road stood a young man with destroyed cars all around him, fire burning from all of them. He had short black hair and was dressed in black leather clothing, the sleeves of his jacket that seemed to have burned away, and the middle unzipped, showing his toned chest. Across his skin stitches, two on the sides of his mouth like a permanent smile. Around his waist a small metal satchel of sorts.

In his mouth, a lit cigarette, and his expression depressed as he looked at his aftermath. "How annoying," he muttered with a sigh of vapour, looking up to the sky afterwards.

The man looked down the street as the road and buildings started to become enveloped with frost, followed by the footsteps of Iceman. Each step leaves a step of solid ice.

"Finally, I was wondering how long you would take," said the man.

"I assume you aren't friendly," replied Iceman, looking at the destruction around the man along with burnt corpses and their awful smell.

"I hate the heat; ironic, isn't it?" said the man, taking the cigarette out of his mouth and flicking it away, where it quickly burned to ash. The man straightened himself, with his other hand facing Iceman, ready to flick. With one movement of his finger a small ball of fire shot towards Iceman.

Iceman held up his hand and caught the flame, steam dancing out of his hand. Iceman opened his hands, showing how the fire was put out.

"I always wanted to know who would win a fight, a man made of ice." The man started to speak and walk towards Iceman, and his hands started to burn bright with the power of fire that almost seemed to resemble claws. "Or a man made of fire!" he exclaimed.

"Well, it seems you can finally find out," replied Iceman, getting ready.

"They call me Kenneth, old, I know, but apparently it means born of fire, so I wonder what your name is?" asked Kenneth.

"Robert, but people call me Bobby my middle name," replied Iceman.

"How boring," replied Kenneth. He reached into his satchel, pulling a metal orb, throwing it towards Iceman after pressing a button.

Iceman arose a hand of ice, stopping the orb from reaching, with nothing happening. His other hand was placed on the floor, creating a path of sharp spikes of ice rushing towards the man.

Kenneth slammed his hand to the ground and erupted a ball of fire that quickly burned away the path of Ice. With a wave of his hand followed a wave of fire charging towards Iceman, who arose a wall of ice.

Kenneth flicked a small ball of fire towards the orb, which now had a green glow. When they came into contact, the ball unleashed a large explosion, blowing away the hand of Ice and pushing Iceman back a few steps, now blinded by a cloud of smoke.

"I should thank the doctor later for his gift!" Yelled the man as he appeared from the smoke, his hand of fire reaching out towards Iceman.

Iceman moved his head out of the way and used his hand to hold Kenneth's wrist as he punched his torso. Kenneth giggled as now his lower arm became engulfed by flames, causing steam to fill the air as Iceman's hand began to slowly melt.

Kenneth punched Iceman in the face, who retaliated by stamping of Kenneth's foot, encasing in Ice, and sticking him to the floor. Iceman backed away, swishing his hand upwards, creating a large spike aimed directly at Kenneth.

The spike started to dig into Kenneth's skin, who used one of his hands to grip it, holding it at bay. With his other hand, he placed his palm up in front of his mouth before blowing a spray of fire, melting away the spike of ice and making Iceman shield himself.

Kenneth's legs became engulfed by fire, quickly melting the ice that encased them. Kenneth ran towards Iceman, throwing another metal orb in front of him. As soon as it glowed red, Kenneth stepped on it, causing it to explode, blasting himself forward and in the air at Iceman swiftly.

Kenneth started to fall towards Iceman, throwing a punch, which Iceman collided with his fist, making a cloud of steam. Iceman made his other arm take the form of a baseball bat before swinging it into Kenneth's hip, sending him through the wall of the neighbouring building.

As the dust-covered Iceman's vision, a ball of fire flew towards him, which Iceman batted away with the sound of metal. A little later, the ball of fire exploded in the air with a loud boom, surprising Iceman.

Kenneth started to rush towards Iceman, and with a wave of his hand, a pillar of Ice arose from the ground, throwing Kenneth into the air. In mid-air, Kenneth's feet started to blaze even more powerfully forward, pushing him forward to Iceman.

Kenneth almost glided at Iceman as he punched Iceman, who was currently crossing his arms in a guard. Iceman got pushed back by the punch and Kenneth landed on the floor as he quickly ran back up to his feet, not stopping his chase.

Kenneth went for a punch as Iceman through a hook, hitting Kenneth and stopping his attempt. Iceman followed with a punch to the chest, making Kenneth groan in pain before digging his fiery nails into Iceman's side.

Iceman joined his hands and slammed Kenneth to the floor, who, while laid out on the ground, dug his nails into Iceman's ankle. Iceman turned his leg into a huge block of ice and kicked Kenneth away, making him roll down the street as dents on his ice body appeared where Kenneth's nails dug.

Kenneth got back up to his feet, holding his chest in pain. "Time I got a bit more serious!" he said. His whole body started to burn among the flames as his clothes burned to ash that flew with the wind. His hair quickly burned away as the fire consumed his face as he held his mouth while laughing, facing the sky.

"Now the real fight begins!" Kenneth exclaimed.
