Chapter 299: The Iron Tree Blooms for Old Poison

By this point, with Old Poison standing awkwardly before her, Wang Xian'er fully understood Du Qianjue's intentions. Back at the Starlight Hotel, she had thought his words were just a joke, but it turned out the kid was actually serious.

"I never expected that, even at over two hundred years old, a young fellow would..." Wang Xian'er shook her head with a helpless smile.

Hearing this, Old Poison felt even more embarrassed, almost wanting to dig a hole to hide in.

"Um, Xian'er, don't take that brat's words seriously. I didn't..." Old Poison was sweating, stammering as he spoke.

Wang Xian'er looked at him with a half-smile. "Didn't what?"

Seeing Old Poison sweat and struggle to speak almost made her burst out laughing, but she managed to hold it in.

Old Poison was at a loss. He hadn't thought about this at all—at his age, with one foot practically in the grave, he hadn't imagined pulling off something as miraculous as an old tree blooming with new flowers. But now that Du Qianjue had set it up like this, it was as if the mud had already splashed onto his pants. Whether or not it was true, it certainly looked that way.

After a long, awkward silence, Wang Xian'er sighed softly.

"Old Poison, how many more years do you think you have left?" she asked.

"Probably over two hundred more. Why?" Old Poison replied, a bit confused, and starting to feel uneasy.

Before his recent breakthrough, he only had about ten years left to live. But after reaching his current level, thanks to the powerful dual-soul core, his lifespan had multiplied several times over. Plus, the life force from the Spirit Gold had replenished his depleted essence, allowing him to live for over two hundred more years.

"You know, I didn't have much time left either," Wang Xian'er smiled. "If not for Qianjue giving me that miraculous Spirit Gold, I might have already passed away by now."

"Yeah, I know. That stuff worked wonders for me too. It extended my life quite a bit," Old Poison said, scratching his head in confusion.

"Thanks to Qianjue, not only did I break through to level 98, but my lifespan has been extended for about two hundred years, just like yours," Wang Xian'er's face remained calm, but there was a hint of emotion in her captivating eyes. "Most of my life has already passed, and I've seen through many things, but some things... they're worth trying, aren't they?"

Old Poison's eyes widened in shock.

...

When Du Qianjue next saw Old Poison and Wang Xian'er, they were already inseparable. Though they didn't have the fiery passion of young lovers, they shared a harmonious bond, like a couple who had been together for years.

Du Qianjue's eyes widened in disbelief, and the teacup in his hand slipped and fell to the ground. Luckily, it was made of fine jade, so it didn't shatter.

"Whoa, it actually happened?" Du Qianjue couldn't help but ask in shock. "Wang Xian'er, how did you manage to win over my stubborn uncle?"

Wang Xian'er smiled without answering, her gaze toward Du Qianjue now filled with warmth and affection, as if looking at a beloved younger relative.

Old Poison's face flushed red, and he slapped Du Qianjue on the back of the head. "Brat, what do you mean 'Wang Xian'er'? From now on, you'll address her as 'Great Aunt'!"

Du Qianjue, rubbing his head where Old Poison had hit him, looked at him resentfully, then bowed respectfully to Wang Xian'er. "Great Aunt~"

"Ah~" Wang Xian'er responded happily, her beautiful eyes curving into crescent moons.

Though Du Qianjue wasn't their biological descendant, his greeting filled her heart with warmth. Both she and Old Poison had never planned on having children, but now...

Hearing Du Qianjue's respectful address, Wang Xian'er's heart stirred with a faint ripple. Maybe having a child wouldn't be such a bad idea?

Old Poison also nodded in satisfaction. Before, he hadn't given much thought to matters of love, but somehow, Wang Xian'er's words had managed to sway him.

Without knowing why, Old Poison had inexplicably agreed.

If Du Qianjue knew what was going through Old Poison's mind, he would definitely shake his head and say seriously, "Give it up, Uncle. This is Love Continent. Even if you're not a hopeless romantic, once you get involved, it's like being under a spell—you'll lose all sense of reason."

"Ahem, brat, since you started all this, shouldn't you give your Great Aunt a gift or something?" Old Poison cleared his throat and hinted at Du Qianjue with a sly look.

Du Qianjue immediately understood what Old Poison meant. Before Wang Xian'er could even snap out of her thoughts about having a child, Du Qianjue opened his Spirit Eye at the center of his forehead.

"I got it, I got it!" he grinned, pulling out a Life Carving Knife, and winked at Old Poison.

"Hey, wait!" Wang Xian'er widened her eyes and was about to stop him, but Du Qianjue had already broken the Life Carving Knife in half. Without hesitation, he tossed one half to Wang Xian'er and reabsorbed the other half into his Spirit Eye.

Du Qianjue didn't mind giving it away. The Spirit Gold fused within him was mainly for healing, and this half-piece was more than enough to last him until he ascended to godhood. After becoming a god, he'd inherit the Life Goddess's divine position, and making Spirit Gold would be as easy as snapping his fingers.

Giving it away didn't bother him at all.

He would have gifted it to Wang Xian'er eventually, even if Old Poison hadn't hinted at it. Besides, he still had another piece of Spirit Gold from the golden turtle. He had saved it for when he condensed his third soul core to further cleanse his spiritual consciousness.

To Du Qianjue, Spirit Gold wasn't that important. It was valuable, but not irreplaceable.

Holding the half-piece of the carving knife in her palm, Wang Xian'er shot Old Poison an exasperated look and grumbled, "What kind of elder asks a junior for a gift? You're just trying to embarrass me..."

"Xian'er, don't be shy with this brat," Old Poison chuckled and wrapped an arm around Wang Xian'er's shoulders. "Qianjue's got plenty of good stuff. This little thing might be no big deal to him, but it'll help you a lot!"

"Yes, Great Aunt, please accept it," Du Qianjue said with a big smile.

With both of them urging her, Wang Xian'er had no choice but to accept the gift. (End of Chapter)
