"Just when Yu Shengyao was about to say something else, someone came looking for him, claiming the Base Commander needed him urgently and told him to hurry over."

Regarding the cruise ship, he even tried to trip you up, accusing you of not handing it over to the base. But the Base Commander isn't easily fooled; he said we can't morally blackmail the people. What belongs to the citizens is theirs, regardless of the circumstances, and shouldn't be commandeered in this way."

Gu Pan commented, "The Base Commander is quite upright."

Lu Jianshe nodded, "That's true. Don't worry, your dad knows what he's doing. Although Yu Shengyao covers for his nephew and is ambitious and competitive, wanting to climb the ranks, he has his limits. That's why he's still in his position. Having heard all this, Lu Ruisheng felt informed, "Then we should all be careful, especially with such a petty person around."

Lu Jianshe nodded, "I know, and you two be careful as well. As they walked back, Gu Pan gossiped about what Lu Jianshe had told them earlier, "If Yu Shengyao didn't have a son, I think he could have held his position even longer."

"Don't even mention it; you might actually be onto something," Lu Ruisheng replied, half-jokingly.

They made their way back to their team, chattering on and off.

As evening approached and it was almost dark, someone came looking for Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng, saying the Base Commander wanted to see them.

Gu Pan said goodbye to her comrades and then followed Lu Ruisheng to the Base Commander's location.

The Base Commander was also in the military, just in a very secluded office with very tight security. After passing several checkpoints and three password-locked doors, they finally arrived.

The person who brought them didn't enter, instead leaving them at the door, instructing them to go in, then closed the door and stood guard outside.

The two of them entered, greeting Tang Ming with a "Base Commander."

Tang Ming sat on the sofa and told them, "Sit down, we have a bit of a thorny issue."
