Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 297 The Boundary Between Life and Death

On the vast platform, under the moonlight, Kane sat cross-legged in the center.

Large beads of sweat dripped continuously from his head. His brow was tightly furrowed, and his head was flushed with intensity.

Meanwhile, Aiklonen simply stood in front of him.

After a while, Kane began to recover, soon opening his eyes and breathing heavily.

"You..." The knowledge and information that filled his mind left Kane utterly shocked. There existed such skills, and he was just about to ask.

"Alright, don't speak. Go aside and quickly master it on your own. Now, I need to train my real apprentice." Aiklonen waved his hand, interrupting what Kane wanted to say.

Then, Kane disappeared from his spot and reappeared on a platform next to Lilulu.

After Kane vanished, Kreya took his place in front of Aiklonen.

Aiklonen slightly tilted his head to make eye contact with Kreya.

With a slight cough, he raised his height to look Kreya in the eye.

As if nothing was out of the ordinary, he asked, "You should know why I left you for last, right?"

Kreya nodded, "Yes."

"You are the most suitable in your entire team to receive my legacy. Accordingly, to be able to pass on all I've gained to you, I will train you very strictly. I hope you're mentally prepared for this."

Faced with Aiklonen's words, Kreya only nodded calmly. She was already mentally prepared.

Aiklonen then appeared several hundred meters away: "Get ready and come at me."

Kreya's eyes began to turn red, her mount's forelegs continuously pawing the ground. Her entire body started to glow red, visible steam rising from her.

She then changed into a set of pure black armor. Once this armor appeared on her body, it spread, covering her entire frame like a black heavy-armored cavalry.

However, it was visible that blood began to seep from the seams of her armor continuously.

The Magma Giant Blade in her hand was enhanced to the extreme by her Origin Skills, with a strange magical sheen appearing on its surface.

At a speed invisible to the naked eye, Kreya lifted the giant blade in her hand and charged towards Aiklonen, transforming into a transparent, ghastly white shade and leaving a long ghostly trail behind.

The Magma Giant Blade was engulfed in magma, slashing at Aiklonen's arm, producing a piercing sound of metals grinding against each other.

The ghastly white aura invaded Aiklonen's body along the sword blade.

After a few hacks, the giant blade in Kreya's hand shattered into pieces, and a single-handed sword appeared in each of her hands once more.

Also enhanced to the extreme, she slashed at Aiklonen.

Each attack allowed the ghastly white aura to invade his body, and although these attacks and the aura were skillfully parried by him, with the increasing number of attacks, Aiklonen's brow began to furrow tightly.

With a hint of confusion in his voice, he asked, "Why? You shouldn't be able to transform into this form! You're standing on the borderline between life and death, it's too strange, too unbelievable!"

"This shouldn't be a skill you can master at this stage. No… I see, I understand now."

Even as he continued fending off Kreya's attacks, he voiced his thoughts and internal doubts.

And he answered himself, questioning but also leaving no room for Kreya to respond.

"It's not just you. Except for that little fellow I haven't seen, you all possess one or two skills beyond your control, why?"

"The abruptness with which these skills combine is just like Kane's skills – oh, those are ridiculously powerful skills."

Aiklonen seemingly figured out the problem, stopped talking about matters unrelated to the duel, and began to seriously experience Kreya's attacks.

He even produced two shields in his hands to defend against Kreya's attacks, assessing the techniques she used in her assaults.

"That's not right; although your attacking techniques are solid, they lack heart. Feel each slash; listen closely to the ringing sound your weapon makes during each strike; smell the aura each attack releases."

Seeing Kreya's attacks begin to slow, Aiklonen continued, "You don't need to learn it all now; just keep my words in mind. I believe you're not as blockheaded as a Dwarf."

After saying this, the shields in his hands vanished, and two single-handed swords appeared, beginning to parry Kreya's attacks, guiding her thrusts.

And with each detected issue, he patiently highlighted the problem.

As the mutual attacks continued, Aiklonen did not remind himself aloud to attack like he did with Kane and the others.

He began counterattacking on his own accord, with the force of his counterattacks gradually surpassing Kreya, step by step increasing.

Watching his sword blades cut through Kreya's phantom white body.

Aiklonen suddenly asked, "How much have you mastered this skill?"

As he posed his question, the frequency and force of his attacks slightly decreased a notch; it seemed he wanted Kreya to respond.

The slower attack rhythm gave Kreya a chance to catch her breath, and she replied, "I feel I've mastered about half of it – maybe more, but not less."

After hearing Kreya's answer, Aiklonen sped up his attack frequency, speaking to himself.

"To master a skill like this half-way, truly a genius. In the upcoming training period, you have to fully master this skill, or else I won't consider your trial passed."

He finished speaking, then again increased the attack frequency and force, allowing Kreya to experience the feeling of death in no time.

As the final duel concluded, Kane and the others, who had been on the platform edges, suddenly appeared around Kreya, and Kane quickly stepped forward to help her up from the ground.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes."

Once they all gathered and stood surrounding her, Aiklonen finally approached them and said.

"You've all been thoroughly assessed now, and I must say, you each qualify as truly talented in every sense. But, you must not be arrogant, for I've seen many more formidable talents than yourselves."

Except for Kane's skills, which are the most outrageous I've ever seen. Aiklonen silently critiqued himself on what he said.

"The condition to pass this final trial is for you to train here to a level that satisfies me. Rest assured, time here differs significantly from the outside world, and this is also the best training ground, isn't it?"

You can fully unleash your strength, and feel your power growing day by day."
