Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 198: Dungeon Time Period

"Since all of you are warriors here to participate in the holy war, I won't waste words. So, Captain Kane, do you and your teammates wish to join under my command as soldiers, or act freely on the battlefield as mercenaries?"

For Sakrem's question, Kane was already prepared: "I wish for my team to act freely on the battlefield as mercenaries, to assist all in this war."

Sakrem seemed to have anticipated Kane's decision and nodded.

After all, groups like Kane's, who arrive together, almost always have their own combat methods and are unlikely to follow the orders of a commander along with regular soldiers.

Not to mention, from his own soldiers, he learned that Kane and his team are incredibly strong, making it even less likely for them to join directly under his command.

"Now, due to the collapse of the first defense line, there are too many things to deal with. Over there is the place to take on tasks; if you have time, you can go there to take missions that assist the holy war. We will also share intelligence on demons there for you to view freely."

After saying this, he pointed in a direction not far away.

"Koblo, arrange rooms for Captain Kane and his team. I have some business to attend to first."

Seeing how busy he was, Kane and his team didn't disturb him further.

Following Koblo, they left there and arrived at a two-story stone house not far away.

The entire stone house was oval-shaped, with few windows on the outside. Even if there were, they were small windows, entirely designed for wartime needs.

Koblo walked over and unlocked the door with a key, then handed the key to Kane: "Captain Kane, you can rest here for now. During this difficult time, we can't offer much in terms of payment, so let this represent our goodwill."

Kane immediately took the key and said, "No, there's no need to be so courteous. It's everyone's responsibility to fend off demons and protect the world, right?"

"Hahaha, thank you very much for your understanding. I won't disturb you any further."

With that, he bid farewell to Kane and his team and left.

Kane then led his team into the stone house.

Inside the stone house, various pieces of furniture were somewhat old, and the floor was covered with dust.

There were six rooms on two levels, but all these rooms were arranged according to ordinary human standards, without any suitable for Kreya. It seemed they would have to make do for her.

Speaking of which, Kane hadn't seen any alien races along the way, only ordinary humans.

This place probably had no other races besides humans, but they weren't surprised by the appearance of Longbei Kleya and others, probably due to Dungeon or Mist cognitive shielding?

Lilulu waved her magic staff, and the dust quickly gathered into a central ball.

Another wave transformed the originally worn furniture into like-new condition, as if just purchased.

Kane and his team were used to the magical transformations wrought by Lilulu's magic, especially since her sublimation into Silver, so they weren't surprised.

If she turned the entire stone house into a cake-made house, Kane and the others would only be slightly surprised.

After all, she's Mist's dear daughter.

Then Lilulu flew to Kreya's side and whispered a few words into her ear.

She then led Kreya into a room, transforming all the furniture to match Kreya's size.

This transformation genuinely surprised Kreya, who thought she would have to struggle during this period.

"Hehe, how is it, Sister Kreya? Isn't Lilulu amazing?"

After finishing, Lilulu put her hands on her hips, floating proudly in front of Kreya.

Kreya directly hugged Lilulu unyieldingly, rubbing her face against Lilulu excessively: "Lilulu is amazing, sister loves you!"

"Hehe"

After everyone finished tidying up their rooms, they gathered in the living room around a central wooden table.

Then Kane took some dungeon-related documents from his space equipment and placed a portion on the table.

"Based on the inquiries along the way, I've roughly figured out which timeline we're in now."

Kane then flipped to the section about the demon assault wars 150 years later.

"The current dungeon date is Empire Year 1153, and this history segment begins at Empire Year 950."

He called Yoyo over to project information about the third demon assault war to everyone.

"So we can basically confirm that we're on the eve of the third demon assault war. There are no specific records of the third war because there are no clearance records from this period."

The reason there's no record of this time but information exists is due to a Silver Bottleneck team retrieving it when they cleared this dungeon.

When they cleared, they arrived at the timeline's end, past the third war.

They landed directly in the period where the Demon Commander was released, with absurd clearance tasks to kill the Demon Commander on the battlefield.

Yet eventually, they successfully completed this task.

After clearing, they brought out an approximate timeline from this dungeon's entire history.

"According to records, the third demon assault war was the one where humanity failed, releasing the Demon Commander. All three defense lines eventually break, leading to the final battle at the Volcano Fortress."

At this point, Kreya asked, "So how do we count it as successfully clearing?"

"As previously recorded, we successfully defend in the final assault."

"But we don't know which one is the final assault. If our involvement means these demons can't even break the second line, won't we be stuck here forever?"

In response to Kreya's question, Kane projected the entire dungeon map in mid-air with Yoyo's help.

"We don't have the ability to stop the front three lines from breaking."

The three lines span the entire map, and with just Kane and his team, they don't have the time with the people here to prevent these lines from breaking.

This requires large-scale collective effort.

"So, our primary task now is to preserve as much combat strength as possible, retreat to the final Volcano Fortress, and during the decisive battle there, deliver the final, definitive blow."
