Chapter 178: Sword Skill.
The battle between the Rank 3s continued, while Felix got busy carrying out a massacre of the last of the Bladefiends that remained standing.
The members of his group and the traitor group had by now joined with the surviving members of Morris' patrol group in the circle.
Unsurprisingly, they encountered a problem where Morris' patrol group members showed an absolutely defeated expression when they first saw the traitors whom they were unfamiliar with, which was soon dealt with by Roven who explained the situation to them.
Right now, all of them were fighting together to quickly bring down the huge number of Bladefiends.
On their side, there were about eleven Rank 2 fighters including several more Rank 1s too. The Bladefiends on the other hand, who were previously numbered to be more than a couple of hundred, had now been reduced to less than half of them.
It wasn't that good on their side either with everyone wounded and bleeding from various parts of their body, but at least nobody else died after the reinforcements arrived.
"Where's Sir Keliot? I can't see them! Is Sir Morris going to be fine?!", Selena shouted and huffed with the little strength she had left that could be easily seen weakening every second by everyone.
She had been assigned to Morris' group before the separation of the patrol teams, especially after she insisted on not being in the same group as the silver-haired boy.
Though that may have been a better choice seeing their predicament, she wasn't the least bit regretful.
Because if it wasn't for her keeping the circle in check and maintaining their formation, who knew how many more would've died by now.
Maybe none of them would've survived by the time Keliot's team arrived.
"Don't worry, Selena. They'll take care of the situation just fine.", Roven answered with a confident tone.
He got to know that there were three Rank 3 Bladefiends up at the front, one of whom he saw in the sinkhole earlier where Felix dived right in for battle.
As he couldn't see Nicole, Paul or Keliot around them, Roven was sure they were busy handling the other Rank 3 Bladefiends.
So he wasn't too worried about them, not including Felix who he knew could be quite handy with his multitude of skills.
"If you say so....", Selena tightened her hold on her sword and sighed. "But I'm more worried about us to be honest."
She glanced back, staring at the corpses of her teammates that were being protected from the relentless and hungry Bladefiends.
"Are more of us going to die?", Selena felt dejected for the lost ones.
"NO!"
It was Steve who replied within a second, exclaiming out loud as he took out a pill from his pocket.
It was one of the pills given by Miss Samantha of the Underworld which would activate his broken nerves to their peak, strengthening his power.
'Nobody's going to die anymore!'
Just when he was about to toss the pill into his mouth, a voice broke through the tense moment.
"Guys! Are y'all good?! Let's bring down these monsters shall we?", Felix emerged out of nowhere from the ground and looked around at everyone.
"F-Felix?", Steve paused.
"Felix! You're back! What happened with the Rank 3 monsters?!", Roven shouted the moment he saw his mysterious teammate.
"Oh, I took care of one of them. Keliot and the others are going against the remaining two right now.", he answered casually while raising his hands.
"Felix?! So you're still alive? I thought you...", Selena stared at him intently for a few seconds before sighing out loud.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way. It's just..."
"No time for words, okay? We gotta bring them down first.", Felix didn't mind her rudeness and instead looked forward with seriousness.
"Bring it on!!"
'Quicksand! Corrosion Domain! Dust Blast! Earth Spikes! Sinkhole!'
With the addition of Felix who quickly used several of his skills to weaken the surrounding monsters, the people around him got the advantage in the battle.
"What the-!"
Some of them widened their eyes in shock at the power he displayed which was anything but at the Rank 1 level.
Felix didn't allow anyone to question him as he dived right into the hoard as his Battlefield Awareness skill gave him every detail he needed to carry out this massacre.
'How many skill points did I gain by now? Should I create another mass affecting skill for killing this horde?'
Dancing amidst the crowd as he took one life after the other while using the Striking Blades technique, he checked the skill points count.
[Skill points: 8270.]
A quick glance at the system's message brought a smile to his face, making him think about his current skills.
'Let's see... most of my skills are related to the earth attribute like Earth Swimming, Terra Drain, Earth Spikes, Dust Blast, Sinkhole, and Quicksand.'
He thought as he used those skills while taking down the Bladefiends.
'Then I got skills like Agility Burst, Ratio Technique, Corrosion Domain, Battlefield Awareness, Superhuman Physique, and Mirage Clones.'
The skills he just thought of were all the skills that directly or indirectly influenced his combat power. The rest of them were not necessary to think of right now.
Felix then recalled the kind of combat skills that he had previously imagined during his idle time.
'The sword art skills that I've always wanted never got the chance to be created, so this time....', he now knew what needed to be done.
'An all-out sword attack skill it is!'
His mind processed at the speed of lightning thanks to the Enhanced Brain skill, multitasking both the battle around him and the new skill he was trying to imagine.
A few seconds later, a smile emerged on his face as he called out to the system.
'System, create me this skill.'
[Affirmative!]
[Processing the skill's power scale.... grading the skill.... estimating the possible points required..... skill successfully moduled.]
[Ding!]
[Skill Name: ??
Description:
•The User designates a target location within a 100-meter range. Upon activation, a torrent of sword projections manifests in the air and descends violently upon a 10-meter radius area, striking all entities within the range.
•Deals significant physical damage to all targets within the area of effect based on their physical strength.
•Ineffective against beings above Rank 3.
Cost: 1500 skill points]
[Do yoy wish to spend 1500 skill points to create the skill '??'?]
As he read the information of the skill displayed before him, suddenly out of nowhere, Felix harshly thrashed away a nearby poir Bladefiend when he reached the skill's cost.
'What?! 1500 skill points for this? That's too much compared to my other skills...', he complained inwardly, his frustration obvious.
The others noticed his darkening mood as he suddenly unleashed his frustration on the nearby monsters, cutting them down with violent, unrestrained swings.
'Just change the range a little, that'll reduce the costs I guess...', Felix gave the system another command as it started recreating it.
[Ding! Skill remodelled!]
[Skill Name: ??
Description:
•The User designates a target location within a 50-meter range. Upon activation, a torrent of sword projections manifests in the air and descends violently upon a 5-meter radius area, striking all entities within the range.
•Deals significant physical damage to all targets within the area of effect based on their physical strength.
•Ineffective against beings above Rank 3.
Cost: 750 skill points.]
[Do you wish to spend 750 skill points to create the skill '??'?]
Felix looked at the changed information of the skill and nodded to himself, finding it more acceptable and suitable for the type of battles he would be having in the near future.
'Fifty meters of range is more than enough in these tunnels, while five meters of attack radius should work even when I'm near my allies and friends.'
He calculated, though he was just trying to keep the skill points expenditure to the lowest, knowing he would be able to upgrade the skills when he wanted later according to his choice.
'Now as for the name...', Felix pondered, glancing at the horde of Bladefiends surrounding him before he grinned in a sinister way.
'Create this skill and name it Bladefall...', he ordered the system.
[Ding!]
[Successfully created a new skill.]
Eager to use the new skill, Felix called out the map and glanced at the positions of the monsters around him, his Battlefield Awareness skill aiding him.
'There!'
He suddenly pointed his sword at a rear location of the monster's horde and shouted in his mind.
'BLADEFALL!'
At his command, there was an abrupt shift in the air above the rear monsters, from where a series of sword projections appeared out of nowhere.
His targets? Obviously, the monsters that he named his new skill after.
The Bladefiends!
Before the monsters and his allies could even figure out what was happening, the series of sword projections descended on their heads gleaming sharply.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sword projections pierced and stabbed into the weaker Rank 1 Bladefiends like a knife on a cheese, killing every single one of them, while the Rank 2 Bladefiends were rendered immobile and the unlucky ones even died on the spot.
The five-meter radius area where the skill was targeted now looked like a calamity had just passed by, where corpses and butchered monsters remained.
"Ohhh... That's....", Felix widened his mouth in amazement before he grinned widely.
"...SICK!"
