Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 979: 976: I Cannot

"Huh. Get revenge?"

Jeremy, Caesar, Elizabeth, Matias, and Rorik had stunned and baffled expressions when they heard Corey's words.

They had been confused as to what Corey's business with the Queen of the Silver Elves was, and why he was acting like a salesman or a negotiator, a sight they had never seen before... But after putting two and two together, they realized that Corey was dragging them into an agreement where they would be forced to fight a future battle for the Silver Elves.

A battle they had no knowledge of.

"Ryan. What is the meaning of this?"

Jeremy asked with narrowed eyes, and Corey looked at him with raised brows.

"You don't know anything about their history? About the fact that they have extremely powerful enemies in the universe? And that they would want to one day take revenge on those enemies in the future?"

Jeremy was taken aback, and so were his companions. They looked at Queen Nerith and Syrelle with a complicated expressions.

"Hmm. I guess you didn't know about that."

Corey muttered softly, and then he shrugged and looked at Syrelle with a light smile.

"If I'm to guess, he most likely promised to provide a place for either all your people or some of your people to stay on New Earth where they won't be treated like slaves or treated unfairly in any manner."

"Or, he promised to assist you guys with an issue with the Freedom Fighters."

Corey's smile widened slightly when he saw the deepened frown on Syrelle's face.

"I don't know what agreement you guys made, but it doesn't change the fact that with me in the equation, it would be a lot better for you."

He gestured in the direction of Jeremy and his companions with a single hand.

"And as you can clearly see and sense, I'm stronger than all of them by a wide margin."

The expressions of Jeremy and his companions turned ugly, and they all looked at Corey with extremely deep frowns.

"No offense to you guys." He smiled at them.

"A lot was taken." Elizabeth said with a scowl.

Corey smiled at her, and then he looked back at Queen Nerith.

"See, you can limit the knowledge I'll gain. You can hide your deepest secrets. I just want to learn about blacksmithing, creation, and metals from you... And also the history of the universe before the appearance of the Universal System."

"History of the universe?"

"Before the Universal System?"

Jeremy and the others muttered in confusion, and they alternated their gazes from Corey to the Queen, to her children, and then back to Corey.

They suddenly realized that they had no idea what Corey was literally bargaining for, and Jeremy Draker as the King of over a million people knew that he needed to know what was going on, especially since Corey was dragging them into a battle or a war he had no idea of.

"Ryan. What the hell is going on?"

Corey looked at him. "Just like Caesar said, it's none of your business and I hope you'll respect the fact that it's none of your business."

Jeremy frowned deeply. "It became my business, our business..." He gestured at Caesar, Elizabeth, Mathias, and Rorik who all had frowns as they stared at Corey.

"... From the moment you included us in your negotiation, it became our business too."

Corey looked at Jeremy with the same light smile as the King of Miracles had a frown as he spoke.

"So tell me, Ryan. What is the meaning of this? And what are you dragging us into?"

Corey sighed while shaking his head, and then he shrugged nonchalantly.

"I want something from them, and in exchange... I promised them a place to stay on New Earth, and I also promised to help them in their future war of revenge... Just like I said some minutes ago."

Jeremy's brows furrowed slightly, and he asked with a confused tone. "And what you want from them is their blacksmithing techniques and also their history? Not the leaf or branch or the sap or the roots of the World Tree?"

Corey's eyes flickered. "I guess that's what you requested for or want from them."

Jeremy's eyes widened slightly in surprise and disbelief.

"How did you know?"

Corey's lips curved up slightly. "Of course I wasn't a hundred percent certain, but you just made me a hundred percent certain."

Corey did not bother with Jeremy anymore. Instead, he turned and faced Queen Nerith.

"I've done all I can to convince you, and if you still choose not to support me even with all I've said. Then... it's truly a shame."

Corey stared at Queen Nerith who remained silent for a seemingly long amount of time.

And then she spoke.

"Seems you really want, no... need our knowledge of metals and craftsmanship."

Corey nodded slightly. "I won't deny that, your Majesty."

Queen Nerith scoffed, and then she shifted her gaze to Jeremy and the others.

"You included them in this little negotiation of yours, but it looks like they're not too willing to help in the war."

Corey's lips twitched, and a frustrated light flashed in his eyes for a fraction of a second and none noticed.

Queen Nerith looked back at Corey, and then she smiled.

"The one thing you've been trying to do is including your, should I call them, your companions?..."

Corey raised a brow, but said nothing.

Queen Nerith smiled. "I guess I'll call them your companions..." She shifted her gaze to Pamela, Kiefer, Selene, and Willow. "You included them in this negotiation of yours, but they never said they were willing to participate in our battles and wars. Unlike you, they have no reason to."

"And the last thing I want is to bring people who are unwilling to fight for my people into my army."

Corey was about to speak, but Queen Nerith raised her hand, signalling him to stop.

"I've made up my mind, I'm not giving you our knowledge since you have nothing of equal value to offer. I cannot invest all of the blood, sweat, and tears of our ancestors and loved ones just to gain the support of one mortal."

Corey's lips twitched.

"All of you may leave. I have prepared rooms where you all may stay... Proper rooms." Queen Nerith said, and Corey forced a smile.

"Of course, your Majesty."
