Chapter 976: 973: Denied
Corey had a deep frown on his face when he heard the words of Queen Nerith.
Although he would lying to himself if he said that he had not expected such an answer, it was still a little bit worrying knowing that the Book of Death was with the Freedom Fighters.
"That's... worrying if I'm being honest."
Corey's lips twitched slightly, and Queen Nerith raised her brows in slight curiousity.
"And why do you say so? The Freedom Fighters should not be your problem but mine."
Corey looked at her. "Well, just as your daughter said earlier. I encountered a group of Freedom Fighters... Her kidnappers."
He paused for a second while glancing at Ecles, and then he continued.
"The man I spoke with said a lot of things, and from what I got to know from him. The Freedom Fighters don't really have the well-being of my world in their minds. Or to be more precise, they don't have the well-being of other New Earthlings... They want to wipe us out so that the Silver Elves can make my world your world."
The expressions of Queen Nerith, Syrelle, Orynthia, and Thalos changed when they heard his words.
He observed the expression of Queen Nerith, and he could see worry in her eyes.
He continued. "Since I know that the goal of the Freedom Fighters is to take over my world, I'm not comfortable with my black book being in their hands. I'm sure you have first hand knowledge about how powerful and dangerous the book is."
Queen Nerith's expression became solemn as she once again recalled the past of her and so many other Immortals trying to prevent the destruction of their world.
Her husband was one of the unfortunate causalities in that incident.
Noticing that her eyes were getting moist and that a tear was about to escape her eyes, she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.
"I can help you in getting back your book. No. I have to help you in getting back your book because I know firsthand how powerful the book made the current leader of the Freedom Fighters."
Corey tilted his head slightly. "He was the one that caused your injuries?"
Queen Nerith shook her head.
"Yes and No."
"I was injured when I and several other Immortals of our world tried to prevent its destruction. There were several casualties... My husband was one of them."
Queen Nerith paused, and then he placed his left hand on his chest.
"I'm sorry for your loss." He said only out of respect since he did not really care about the death of her husband, and Queen Nerith knew, but obviously she didn't care.
"Thank you." She clenched her right hand with a pained smile. "The current leader of the Freedom Fighters was a Tier 6. After we arrived in this world, I wanted to take the opportunity to kill Randy, but because of the book, he was able to survive my attack and even counter it. If not for the world tree, I would be in a more serious state."
Corey furrowed his brows slightly in thought. "You said he was a Tier 6. Does that mean he's no longer a Tier 6?"
Queen Nerith shrugged. "I don't know. My senses don't extend to the base of the Freedom Fighters. But I believe he's already a Tier 7, or he at least has the capability to fight a Tier 7 on his own... I believe that he's also getting stronger at an alarming pace and he's probably stronger than me at the moment."
Corey raised a brow. "He's already stronger than you? Isn't that... too fast?"
Queen Nerith gave a light smile. "It's the effects of your book, shouldn't you be the least surprised at what it's capable of doing?"
'Well, what if I tell you that the leader of the Freedom Fighters knows more about the book than even me?'
Although he had the urge to say this out loud, he did not.
"Anyway. I'll need your help in getting back my book, and in return, I'll make sure to fully heal you."
Queen Nerith's smile brightened slightly. "That would be great. What was your other request? You said you had two?"
Corey nodded his head. "I want to go through your history books and also your cultivation and blacksmithing books, scrolls, or whatever object that stores knowledge. I want to go through everything."
Queen Nerith and her children frowned deeply when they heard Corey's request. If not for the presence of their mother, Syrelle and Orynthia would have lashed out at Corey for his request.
The reason for this was literally because his request was the same as him wanting to see all their years of hardwork, knowledge, and secrets for free.
If Corey was a nobody or just an average Tier 3 human, they might not have considered it too much since they would have looked down on him.
What could an average Tier 3 human learn on his own?
How could an average Tier 3 human learn all the knowledge and hardwork their ancestors and people have bled, sweat, and died for.
All the innovations and breakthroughs their people had made. How could a Tier 3 human learn even a single percentage of it all?
But Corey wasn't an average Tier 3 human. And they all knew it.
They were not worried that Corey would gain all their knowledge on his own. In their minds, no matter how special and unique Corey was, he was still a mortal, and he definitely had his limits.
Instead, what they were worried about was Corey's background. They were worried that Corey had a way to transmit their secrets and knowledge to the people supporting him.
And those people would definitely have a way to obtain all the knowledge their race had accumulated over millions of years.
Such a thing was unacceptable to them.
"I can't accept such a request." Queen Nerith shook her head and denied his request straight away.
