Chapter 975: 972: The Location
"That accursed book is not with me"
Corey raised a brow in slight suspicion, and then he asked while shaking his head in confusion. "Then where is it? Surely you must know where it is."
Queen Nerith furrowed her brows slightly for a second. "I have an idea. But why should I tell you? I'd rather destroy the book or send the book to the ends of the universe, far away from me, my children, and my people. Giving you the book does not make me feel safe at all."
Corey frowned slightly, and then his gaze shifted to the dull and rusted tip of Queen Nerith's hair.
"I can heal you."
Queen Nerith raised her brows in amusement. "Now, you have healing powers?"
Corey said nothing but merely looked at her with a serious expression.
"Even if you have healing powers, the Tier difference between us is too vast for your healing abilities to work on me." Her expression became solemn. "You might have the destructive capabilities and battle prowess to fight Tier 6s, but it doesn't mean that you'll have the ability to also heal Mystic Beings, talk less of Immortals."
Corey's lips curled up slightly, and then he began approaching the queen.
Thalos, Syrelle, and Orynthia were about to stop him, but Queen Nerith raised her hand, gesturing for them to stop.
Corey stood before her, and then he stretched out his hand and opened his palm.
"If you want to know if I can actually heal you, then you'll just have to take the risk and believe in me."
Queen Nerith looked at Corey's hand before looking at his face for a few seconds. She held his hand, and gave him a smile that seemed harmless but had a threatening allure to it.
"If you try to be funny or sneaky, you'll die right where you're standing."
Corey smiled back. "I don't think I'm dying anytime soon."
Queen Nerith tilted her head slightly. "And why's that? Do you think because you're a unique mortal the world revolves around you?"
Corey shrugged. "Nah... The universe."
Queen Nerith's lips twitched, and she was about to make a response, but Corey did not allow her. He infused his Dream Essence into her and used Dream Healing on her.
'Just as I expected. She's like a bottomless hole that just keeps on absorbing my Dream Essence... I'll definitely not be able to completely heal her, and that's not a problem since that was initially my plan.'
'Give her a taste and allow her to desire for more.'
As Corey had his own thoughts, Queen Nerith also had hers, and it was completely filled with disbelief and shock.
'How is this possible? Having the ability to heal an Immortal should only be possible by an extremely talented Tier 6 healer. And even with that, the Tier 6 healer would find themselves drained of their energies very quickly. Such is the gulf between an Immortal and those below.'
'But this mortal. This strange mortal... His ability ability is so unique and better compared to the other healers I've met. Even the healing capability of the world tree would pale slightly in comparison to his.'
'Not only is it healing the hidden injuries in my body and my mana veins, it's also healing the injuries I sustained in my soul and spirit.'
'Just who are you?'
Queen Nerith wondered while staring at Corey without blinking. She so much wished she could know his secrets or have such a talented mortal on her side, as part of her race.
'If our people ever birthed a mortal like him, we would have long defied the orders of the elders and poured all our resources into him and her so that he could bring a new age for our people... An age where we would be able to explore the universe because of an extremely talented and powerful individual like him.'
She looked down at Ecles, and Ecles noticed her gaze and faced her mother. Queen Ecles smiled and ruffled her daughter's hair.
'Youre the one I poured most of my energy into. The one I nurtured the most. But...' She shifted her gaze to Corey with a wry smile. '...But all my efforts are not compared to what he is:
Just as Queen Nerith had this thought, Corey released her hand and stopped healing her.
She was taken aback at first due to sudden loss of the soothing effect Corey's Dream Healing had on her. It was like she had lost her drug which always made her feel on cloud 9.
She looked at Corey with slightly furrowed brows.
"Just as you said, the difference between us is too high. I can't heal you at a go. Do you seriously believe that my energy storage is comparable to that of an Immortal?"
Queen Nerith's expression eased, and she suddenly realized that she had been expecting far too much.
'How could I have expected him to completely heal me? He's just a Tier 3.'
She inwardly shook her head, and then she smiled at Corey.
"It's more unbelievable and surprising that your healing skill is able to have any effect on me."
Corey shrugged while rotating his right arm and holding his shoulder, making it to seem like he had done a lot of work.
"What can I say? I'm just full of surprises." Corey smirked, and then he placed his hands in his pockets.
"So, if you tell me where to get my black book and also help me to get my black book, I'll make sure to completely heal you even if it takes a rather long time."
Queen Nerith tilted her head slightly. "You really want that black book huh?"
Corey gave a brief smile before his face became stoic once again. "Yes. It's mine. And I want to get it before that bastard does."
Queen Nerith furrowed her brows with an intrigued expression. "That bastard?"
Corey shook his head slightly. "You don't need to worry about him. I just need to know where the book is... and I also need your help in getting the book if I can't get it myself."
Queen Nerith gave an amused smile. "The book... Your black book is with the Freedom Fighters."
