Chapter 917: 914: Rune Crystal of Cataclysmic Rebirth
As he felt his body, spirit, and soul becoming more in tune with his Undying Will after his epiphany, he could feel a profound change occuring in all four parts of him.
It was a change that could not be seen or described into several words. Only one word could describe it... Adaptation.
At first, it was a little bit surprising to Corey when he gained this ability. But when he thought about it and compared to his assumptions of his past life, he realized that it was actually natural.
The main goal of Undying Will was to give the possessor of the Will the ability to survive any situation, and being able to adapt was a form of survival.
For example, there were organisms that lived in the deepest parts of the oceans, and there were also organisms that could live and survive in the depths of a volcano.
All these could survive in such environments, and if Corey ever found himself in a situation that was extremely detrimental to his life, he had a feeling that his Will would be able to help him.
As his body, spirit, and soul was going through this change and becoming more in tune with his Will, he was a little bit surprised because he didn't expect such a thing.
He knew that there was a dissonance between him and the Will because the Will was not truly his, and had not been formed naturally by him.
Although he had a feeling that it had belonged to his past life which in a way should mean that the Will should belong to him, he knew that was not entirely correct.
He was different from his past life. He was different from the God of Assassins.
Unlike the God of Assassins who might have faced so many difficult situations and battles, and who might have used every resource at his disposal to claw his way out of death and danger... Corey was not the same.
His life could not be compared to that of the God of Assassins. In a way, he knew that he had it easy from the very beginning.
If his wish had not transformed into Omniscience, and if Omniscience did not have the Library of Records which allowed him to gain combat experience when he was still a Tier 0. If he had not encountered the Old Man- Wandering Paragon, and if he had not encountered Divine in the Underground.
His life experiences would have been much more different.
He would have faced a more difficult life where the ability to fight against Tier 6s, Tier 5s, and even Tier 4s as a Tier 3 would be nothing more than a far fetched dream.
He was not going to put down all the life and death battles and situations he had encountered ever since the apocalypse started, but he knew that the Undying Will did not define him.
It was not truly him.
And he had a feeling that unless he found a way or he decided to change and take the path that is suitable for the Undying Will, he would never be fully in tuned with his Undying Will, and he would most likely never gain all the full benefits of his Will.
"Unless I'm able to somehow absorb or recover the memories of my past life." Corey muttered softly, and then he shifted his attention to the remaining rewards he got for successfully defeating Death, and passing the system trial.
----
[Rune Crystal of Cataclysmic Rebirth- A unique rune crystal that can only be activated in destroyed lands, creating an area of life and abundance from pure nothingness- but beware, the rebirth will carry hints of the owner's nature. It also needs to be nurtured.]
[Lifeless Hourglass- Can freeze a person's death moment for up to three hours, suspending them between life and death. It has a hidden function.]
[Coffin of a Thousand Ends- A portable spatial coffin that traps enemies inside a nightmare of their own deaths until their soul shatters.]
----
He accepted all three rewards which were items, and they were instantly sent to his system inventory. He quickly moved them to his Tri-Pupil Eyes, and then he began analyzing the rewards.
He brought out the rune crystal of cataclysmic rebirth.
The rune crystal of cataclysmic rebirth was surprisingly a white cubic crystal with a black light at the center of it, and countless runes moving around it. It was a reward he was fairly certain he had gotten because of the wide scale destruction he had caused to the Dying City.
Although he had no idea why the Universal System had given him this as a reward since he had not created anything but destroyed everything in the Dying City.
Regardless, he knew how useful such a reward could be because it was completely different from how other people established their official kingdoms, empires, and organizations in the universe.
He had a feeling that he would be more in control of his land if he used the reward, and he was tempted to find a place to use it on. But he held off on doing so for several reasons.
One of it was that it needed to be nurtured, and from the information that appeared in his head on how to nurture it, he just had to keep on infusing his mana into it till it reached a stage where it could be used, or till it reached its peak stage.
When Corey received this information, he frowned because it was something he was not sure he was going to have so much time to do.
He couldn't spend most of his time pouring his mana into the crystal since he was certain that he was going to be extremely busy for some time, and he also had no idea how long it might take for the crystal to reach its peak state.
{Put it in your Cosmic Soul. It would experience multiple evolutions and grow better there. It would grow into something outside of your Universal System's norms, and you wouldn't have to waste your time pouring your mana into it.}
To his surprise, Nina spoke, and he was truly taken aback. He pondered on her words for a few moment with a frown, and then he asked.
"Are you sure?"
{Yes.}
That was all she said, and Corey nodded slightly.
He put the rune crystal in his Cosmic Soul, and observed his Cosmic Soul for any changes. When he saw that there was none, he nodded slightly and decided to leave his mental space.
He still had two more rewards to check out.
