Chapter 916: 913: Adaptation
Some minutes passed after Corey gained Undying Will, and during this period, he was observing, analyzing, and acclimatizing to his newly gained Will.
In truth, he had somewhat expected there to be changes when he accepted the Will, but some of the changes surprised and unnerved him.
The first thing that was worrying to him was the ocean of shadows he had found himself in. In that place, he heard repeatedly heard the words.
Endure
Resist
Survive
These three words were spoken in a language he heard never of, and in a language he could not even speak because despite his talents.
In fact, he had a feeling that he would have forgotten the three words that were spoken, and the language that was used if not for how unique and powerful his mind was.
"Hmm... I wonder where that place was, and if that voice was the voice of my past life... It could be, since that place was an ocean of shadows."
Corey's brows furrowed slightly as he recalled how his Tri-Pupil Eyes had activated on its own and shattered the world just as the waves of shadow were becoming turbulent.
Corey had no idea what would have happened if his Tri-Pupil Eyes had not activated on its own, but he had a feeling that whatever would have happened if his Tri-Pupil Eyes had not acted was something that would most likely be detrimental to him.
'Was the activation of my Tri-Pupil Eyes related to the Paragon Ancestor? Or was it natural and not influenced by any being?'
Corey wondered inwardly, and then he remembered the cold gaze that made him feel like he was prey, like he was being watched by a predator.
The feeling was extremely fleeting , and it came and went as fast as it appeared. However, Corey knew what he sensed, and he knew that he was not wrong. Unfortunately, he had no idea where the gaze came from.
So he knew that he had to be careful.
"I just keep on making unfathomably powerful people curious about me, and more unfathomably powerful enemies."
Corey shook his head, and then he looked at his mug which was a few meters in front of him.
He stretched out his hand, and the mug slowly flew into his hand. He held it, and then he opened his palm.
A second later, the mug slowly flew back to the table.
"So, I have telekinesis now."
This was one of the new abilities he had gained after obtaining the Undying Will.
With his new Will, he could in a way, order the world around him to do as he said. Literally, he could impose his will on the world.
This was somewhat similar to Heart Intent because if he used his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent on the world, he was basically changing the energy of the world to his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent.
In a way too, it was also somewhat similar to his Toxic Domain which allowed him to create his world.
There were differences in each ability, but Corey had a feeling that the three were intertwined on a much deeper level.
'Hmm... An Imperium.'
'One of the things I've been wondering is how a Domain is different from an Imperium. I almost had the difference was the presence of one's Will in it, but that's wrong. Will is a power that's most likely meant for Tier 9s, and Imperium is a power that's meant for Tier 7s and above.'
'But let me leave behind Imperium since I don't have one yet.'
'... What's the connection between a Will, Intent, and a Domain. I know that they should all be intertwined together, but I can't seem to comprehend what the end result should be.'
A deep frown appeared on his face as his Stars of Consciousness and main consciousness attempted to piece everything together, but he kept on failing.
He had a feeling that he was not wrong about his thoughts, and that there was a link between the three powers. Maybe even the four powers- Will, Intent, Domain, and Imperium.
But no matter how hard he tried, he could not figure it out.
And he knew why.
'Because Undying Will is not truly mine.'
Although he knew very little about Wills, he could make several connections and put two and two together.
Undying Will was a Will that made it difficult for him to truly die. It most likely had other abilities which he would figure out with time, but that was the main ability of Undying Will.
He knew that for such a Will to be formed, the individual had to have lived a life where knowing how to survive was ingrained in their very beings.
"Endure. Resist. Survive." Corey muttered softly.
"If I'm to guess... My past life lived an extremely dangerous life where his life was always truly in danger. He most likely learned how to endure so many situations, probably both physical and mentally."
"He also probably learned to the call of death so many times. I can simulate several situations where he was always on the verge of death, a breath away from crossing the gates of death. But he always resisted. He always found a way to survive and claw his way out of death's claws."
"Survive... Survival was ingrained into his very being. He was an Assassin which makes sense. Assassins must always be prepared for every possible scenario. They must be prepared to survive any situation."
"And my past life was not just any assassin, he was the God of Assassins. Of course, he knew how to survive and... adapt."
Bang
The moment Corey had this epiphany, a bang resounded in his mind, and he felt a pulse sweep across his entire body.
Black lightning flashed in his eyes, and he trembled slightly for a moment before his body calmed down.
He exhaled deeply, and then he raised his two hands and observed them.
He had just discovered another ability of Undying Will... Adaptation
