Chapter 904: 901: Too Late
"Zeke?"
Corey frowned deeply as he stared at the familiar face of Zeke standing some meters away from the throne.
So many questions appeared in Corey's head as he stared at Zeke who had a wry smile on his lips.
'How is he here?'
This was the main question Corey had, and he was truly confused because he truly had no idea as to how Zeke was able to appear before him.
He had kept Zeke and the remaining members of the Thirteenth Dawn in a secured place underground, and he made sure that they would not be able to escape just so that they could be safe.
But Zeke who was the weakest was standing before him?
Corey was baffled. Truly baffled. And this was a rare thing for him.
'What of the others? Don't tell me they're also here?'
Corey looked around despite the fact that his Eyes of Omniscience granted him a 360° vision. He just had to do it to make sure that he was seeing correctly.
However, he saw no other member of the Thirteenth Dawn around him, and his confusion deepened.
'What's going on? How was he able to leave that place? And what of the remaining members of the Thirteenth Dawn? Are they dead?'
Corey's frown deepened slightly, and then he shifted his gaze back to Zeke who still had a wry smile.
'Or maybe this is not Zeke but a shape shifting monster? But I should have noticed that from the moment I looked at him.'
His pure white eyes glowed as he scanned Zeke from head to toe, but he found nothing.
"So... Heyy, buddy. I know that you must be curious as to why I'm here and how I got here?"
"To be honest... I am too, but I promise you that I have no evil intentions toward you."
Zeke took a step forward with a light smile, but the moment he did, Corey pointed his axe at him with a cold expression.
"Who are you?"
Zeke tilted his head with a baffled expression. "What do you mean? It's me. Zeke. The guy that obviously does not like you in our group."
"Isn't it obvious? Or do I look like someone-"
Bang!
A fireball made out of Dreamfire shot past Zeke's head, and it brushed past his ear burning it to a crisp.
Zeke froze, and his lips twitched as what he was about to say got stuck in his throat.
"This is the last time I'm going to ask you." Corey's paused with a frigid cold expression. "Who are you?"
Zeke remained frozen for a few seconds, and his lips twitched repeatedly until it became a smile.
A very wide and extremely eerie smile.
He touched his bleeding burnt ear, and then a soft chuckle escaped his lips as he rubbed the blood on his hand.
He looked at Corey with the same wide smile, and then he chuckled once again.
"How did you find out?"
Corey's gaze narrowed, and then he swung his two fingers at Zeke's right leg.
Zeke's expression changed, but before he could react, a clean cut appeared on his achilles tendon, nearly severing his leg in two.
Zeke exclaimed and fell on one knee, and then he cursed.
"Damn it. Must you always be so violent." He held his bleeding leg with a pained grimace.
"Next time, it's your head." Corey's took a step closer with a cold expression and voice, and Zeke shifted his gaze from his severed achilles tendon to Corey.
He sighed softly, and then he grimaced in pain. "Damn it."
Corey's brows twitched, and Zeke quickly raised his hands up.
"Wait! Wait! Wait! Damn it! Don't attack me. I'll talk."
"Make it snappy. I don't have time for this nonsense." Corey said.
Zeke shook his head, and then he smiled. He moved his bloodied hands, and then he covered his face with it.
He moved his bloodied fingers across his face like a painter who was painting, and Corey's expression changed slightly.
Exactly ten seconds later, Zeke lowered his hands with a wide smile, and then he smiled widely at Corey who had an extremely deep frown.
"Do you recognize me now?"
"The Clown." Corey replied with a dark gaze as the blood on Zeke's face resembles the face painting that was always used on clowns.
And Zeke, no, the Clown chuckled.
"Took you long enough." The Clown tilted his head slightly. "How did you know that he was not truly Zeke? What gave it away?"
Corey raised a brow. "Apart from the fact that Zeke does not have the ability to control shadows and also hide from my senses for that long?"
"It could have been a hidden item or ability he possessed that enabled him to do that." The Clown retorted with another tilt of his head to the other side.
Corey scoffed. "Your shadow."
"Hmm." The Clown raised a brow, and then he turned and looked at his shadow.
A baffled expression appeared on his face when he did not notice anything.
"The top of your head."
Corey's voice drifted into his ears, and the Clown looked at the head of his shadow.
When he did, he saw a flickering line appearing and disappearing randomly, and the Clown's eyes widened in realization.
"Hahh. I see. I guess I should not have used shadow but..." He paused, and then he turned and faced Corey. "Your perception and ability to notice oddities has always been one of your greatest talents that I've been envious of."
The corner of Corey's lips curled up slightly. "I'm sure there are countless other talents I have that you're envious of."
The Clown chuckled, and then he looked at the throne and book of Death in the distance.
"You're not going to ask me why I'm here? Or what my goal is? Or how I got here?"
Corey looked in the direction of the throne and the book for a few seconds, and then he looked at the Clown.
"I just have one question."
The Clown raised a brow. "What is it?"
"Is your true body in the capital of the Kingdom of Miracles?"
The Clown narrowed his eyes with a baffled and surprised expression. "Hmm. Yeah. So?"
"I'll find you." Corey replied with an emotionless expression, and the Clown was about to laugh, but his expression changed when he realized that his vision had changed.
It was spinning, and he saw the sky before it finally landed on the ground.
'Oh shit. He beheaded me?'
The Clown thought in amazement, and then Corey's pair of shoes appeared before him. His eyes moved and he looked up, staring at Corey in the eye.
"You're too late." He smiled, and then the light in his eyes vanished.
