Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 537: 536: Runemasters

Runemasters

To the ignorant, Runemasters were beings who, as the name implied, were masters of runes. However, if you asked the ignorant what runes were, 99.999999999% would give you caveman answers.

To those with little knowledge, if asked what Runemasters were, most would say that Runemasters were beings that could use runes to create formations and arrays through unique methods.

This was not wrong, but it was also wrong.

Those who could create formations and arrays with runes were not Runemasters but Formation Masters and Array Masters respectively.

Formation Masters and Array Masters were completely different from Runemasters. The difference between the two was like heaven and earth, and if a Formation or Array Master encountered a Runemaster, no matter the difference in tier, the Formation or Array Master would respect the Runemaster.

To the knowledgeable and the experienced, if asked what Runemasters were, their answers would be equivalent to this.

Terrifying Existences.

The difference between a Formation/Array Master and a Runemaster was that a Formation/Array Master needed certain materials and tools to draw formations and arrays with runes, meanwhile, a Runemaster had no need of any material or tool to draw formations, arrays, or to manipulate runes.

The majority of Formation/Array Masters do not have the ability to see runes.

Instead, what they had was the ability to feel the runes or for those who did not possess the talent to be Formation/Array Masters but became Formation/Array Masters through sheer hardwork, what they did was memorize the runes that made up several formations and arrays.

The majority of the Formation/Array Masters in the Universe could not perceive runes, what they did was to memorize numerous formations and arrays, and with the use of certain unique tools and materials, they could draw formations and arrays.

Those who could perceive runes were regarded as talented Formation/Array Masters, and they had it easier learning more complex and advanced formations and arrays.

Those who could see runes were treasured by the upper echelons of organizations made up of Formation and Array Masters because learning formations and arrays was much easier for these individuals and one other very important reason.

These individuals had the potential to become Runemasters.

Unlike Formation Masters and Array Masters, Runemasters could see runes and they could also manipulate them without any tool or material.

The runes listened to their command much more easily compared to Formation Masters and Array Masters.

To portray just how vast this difference was, Ryan recalled a certain story he was told by his teacher.

There was once an evil cult that sacrificed young virgins and newly born kids to an evil god. This cult was not extremely powerful, however, the cult leader was a Tier 7, and the cult also had connections with other powerful evil organizations.

Numerous organizations that were either disgusted or offended by the cult tried to destroy the cult, but every single one of them failed.

There was one major reason why they failed, and that was because the cult had an Immortal-level formation barrier protecting it.

The formation caused a lot of deaths and headaches for the organizations that attacked the sect. There was a time when those who were keeping up with the news regarding the cult thought the cult was going to get destroyed because ten Tier 7s gathered together to destroy the cult.

However, even though the ten Tier 7s used all they had, they could not destroy the barrier. After that event, most speculated that it was only a Tier 8 and above that would be able to destroy the formation barrier, and then the cult.

Although there were a lot of speculations regarding the cult and its formation barrier, what certainly happened was that the fame and reputation of the cult experienced massive growth.

More and more people joined the cult, and the cult became more brazen with their actions. A lot of people experienced rapid progress in their advancement to higher tiers due to the increase in treasures and resources in the cult, and then their leader desired to advance to Tier 8.

Despite the massive growth of the cult, the cult never antagonized forces that had Tier 8s or any Tier 8 with a background. However, seeing the benefits they gained from plundering and committing more evil deeds, the cult leader desired to advance to Tier 8.

When his master reached this point in the story, Ryan was certain that what was going to follow was that the cult offended a Tier 8 or a force with a Tier 8, and then they got destroyed.

However, his master chuckled when he said this, and he could clearly remember his master's words, almost like he was back on that faithful day.

"Boy, the cult did not offend a Tier 8 or a powerful force with a Tier 8. Even though they became more brazen and arrogant, the leaders knew that they were no match for a Tier 8 even with the Immortal level formation barrier."

"Boy, what, or should I say, who destroyed the cult was not a Tier 8 nor an Immortal… It was a Tier 5 Runemaster."

"Although he didn't destroy the cult on his own, he played a major role in the destruction of the cult by destroying the Immortal level formation barrier that ten tier 7s could not destroy."

"What led to the destruction of The Cult of Black Flame was a Tier 5 Runemaster and three Tier 7s."

"According to what I heard, why the Tier 5 Runemaster destroyed The Cult of Black Flame because when he was young, the cult killed his father, raped his mother, and kidnapped his older sisters, using them as sacrifices to their evil god."

"My dear disciple, no matter what, never take a Runemaster lightly regardless of their Tier… Runemasters are beings that should not be taken lightly… The power of runes far exceeds your wildest imaginations, boy."

"I believe… I believe… that runes are the foundations of all that exists."

Ryan remembered how stunned, baffled, and awed he had been when he heard his master's words.

The story he heard, and the warning his master gave him remained in his heart till this day. Because of his background, he had met two Runemasters throughout his life, and when he did, he instinctively knew that Runemasters were not normal.

He had come to respect Runemasters, and to his disbelief and shock, a Tier 2 who was a Runemaster had been beside him for so long, but he did not know.

'Wait!... He's a Runemaster, and he also has an Intent!'

Ryan's eyes widened the more, and the way he stared at Corey changed.

'He's a once in a millennia talent. We need to buy him from the Underworld!'

Just as Ryan had this thought, he felt a gaze land on him. He looked at the source, and his dark grey eyes reflected Azhrun's image.

He saw Azhrun having a deep frown on his face along with a light of contemplation in his eyes. The twins were no different, and both Mira and Lyra could not help but stare at Corey with a deep gaze.

A second later, Azhrun spoke.

"Who the hell is he?"
