Chapter 148: Chapter 96.3: Both God and Devil

"I aim to rebuild the world's order."

Geto smirked faintly. "I have no interest in mocking your ideals. Even if I find them naïve. But before you have the strength to achieve them, why not help me fulfill my wishes first?"

"Why should I help you?" Geto asked.

Chu Yang drove his blade into Geto's chest again, coldly stating, "This isn't a choice—it's your chance to live."

Under the threat of death, Geto surrendered.

"From now on, we're allies. I'll reluctantly be the leader. Sound good?"

Geto laughed bitterly, realizing he had been outmaneuvered from the start.

"You planned this from the beginning... The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind."

Chu Yang smiled. "Now, find a way to fool Gojo Satoru. He'll be back soon."

Geto summoned a curse to mimic his appearance. Chu Yang feigned killing it, leaving behind a convincing corpse.

Not long after, Gojo arrived, nodding silently at the sight. "Good work."

Chu Yang shook his head and took a student ID from his pocket, handing it to Gojo Satoru. It belonged to Yuta Okkotsu, who had lost it during a recent mission and was later found by Suguru Geto.

"Do you need some time?"

"Thank you. Give me just a moment."

Chu Yang nodded and sat on the steps, gazing at the fiery clouds in the sky while silently waiting for Gojo Satoru to mourn his close friend.

Three minutes later, Gojo stretched lazily, his carefree demeanor seemingly restored.

"You figured out early on that Geto's target was Yuta, which is why you deliberately stayed at the school, didn't you?" Gojo's lips curled into a faint smile as he recalled Chu Yang's hesitant expression during their previous meeting.

"Just luck," Chu Yang replied with a small laugh, mimicking Gojo's posture as he stretched on the steps.

"Did you fight Geto alone?"

Gojo stood at a distance, his back to Chu Yang. No one could see his surprised expression as he asked the question.

"Are you asking if Yuta fought? Unfortunately, he didn't have the chance," Chu Yang replied, shaking his head.

Gojo suddenly turned to stare at Chu Yang. Special-grade sorcerers were the pinnacle of jujutsu, and Suguru Geto was one of the strongest among them. Besides himself, Gojo couldn't think of anyone else at Jujutsu High who could decisively defeat Geto.

"Your Grade 1 evaluation hasn't even been finalized, and now they'll have to reassess you again. You sure know how to give the higher-ups headaches," Gojo teased with a grin.

"Honestly, I was curious to see the elders' reactions if Geto managed to seize Rika Orimoto. That would've been their real nightmare," Chu Yang said coldly.

"Oh-ho~~~ That's a dangerous thought. Not allowed! Yuta would've died," Gojo replied with a smile, though the atmosphere between the two became increasingly tense.

"Though, to be fair, I can't stand those rotten old geezers either…" Before the tension could escalate further, Gojo broke it with a joking tone.

"You came here in such a hurry because of Yuta, right? Go deal with Geto's remains and check on him," Chu Yang casually reminded Gojo after estimating the time.

As Gojo walked toward the classroom, he waved a hand behind him, saying, "Bury him somewhere scenic, so I'll feel better when I visit next."

Having anticipated such a response, Chu Yang waited for Gojo to leave before taking away Geto's body.

Walking through the ruins of the school, Gojo could see the aftermath of an intense battle. From a distance, Yuta spotted him and called out, "Gojo-sensei!"

The group quickly gathered around, animatedly recounting the fight.

"When Geto appeared, I thought we were doomed!"

"Yang-senpai took out thousands of cursed spirits with a single attack! But his method for finishing off Geto was a bit brutal…"

Gojo silently listened to the excited chatter, piecing together a vivid picture of the battle.

"Winning so effortlessly… His potential might even surpass Yuta's. If this continues, could he truly become the 'Heavenly Tyrant' of jujutsu?" Gojo thought, recalling his own near-death fight with Toji Fushiguro during his student days.

The idea of Chu Yang reaching or exceeding that level of power sent a chill down Gojo's spine.

While intrigued, Gojo also felt something was off. Though their time together had been brief, Chu Yang didn't seem like someone who would cruelly kill an opponent.

"Yuta, come with me."

Gojo handed Yuta his lost student ID and began discussing Rika Orimoto's curse.

---

To make his feigned death more convincing, Geto had severed his connection with the cursed spirits under his control, making those in Kyoto and Shinjuku appear as ownerless spirits.

Without Geto's direction, the cursed spirits stopped their chaotic attacks, and some even began to disperse.

Seeing this, Masamichi Yaga realized something had happened to Geto.

Within half an hour, the last cursed spirit in Shinjuku was exorcised, signaling the failure of Geto's Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Amid the chaos, Geto's followers vanished, escaping the jujutsu sorcerers' pursuit. Among them were Mimiko and Nanako, Geto's adopted daughters, who returned to their hideout in despair.

"Why the long faces? I'm not dead," Geto greeted them with a smile.

The two girls looked up in shock, then rushed toward him.

"Why release the cursed spirits? We really thought you were dead!" they shouted, uncharacteristically angry at the man they deeply revered.

"Well, the plan failed. I couldn't take Rika Orimoto, and I almost died. No, technically, I am dead," Geto said awkwardly, scratching his head as he recounted what had happened at Jujutsu High.

Hearing how easily he was defeated, his followers initially assumed Gojo had intervened. However, upon reflection, they realized Gojo would never suggest forming an alliance with Geto.

The idea that anyone other than Gojo could defeat Geto was hard for them to accept.

Particularly Mimiko and Nanako, who were furious. They couldn't tolerate anyone outside of Geto leading their group.

Sensing their defiance, Geto placed his hands on their heads and warned, "Don't even think about it. That guy may seem normal, but he's a lunatic. He'd kill all of us, including me…"

The thought of Chu Yang's ambition to reshape the jujutsu world sent shivers down Geto's spine.

"Calling me crazy is quite accurate. I'll take it as a compliment," Chu Yang suddenly appeared in their base. No one saw how he arrived—it was as if he had stepped through time and space.

The group braced themselves, ready to activate their techniques.

"Stand down!"

Geto's sharp command and stern glare forced everyone to lower their defenses.

"I don't mind using force to gain your temporary submission. To save time, you can all challenge me together," Chu Yang said with a calm smile, exuding an air of gentle authority.

Some among the group hesitated, considering the option of teaming up against him. Surely, they thought, many could overpower one.

Chu Yang's smile deepened, already planning to make an example of whoever stepped forward.

Before anyone could act, Geto's cold voice cut through the room. "Don't even think about it."

His fury silenced the room, and those who had shown hostility quickly became docile.

Chu Yang shook his head regretfully, but Geto could tell he had been ready to kill.

"You're here for more than just claiming the group, aren't you?" Geto asked cautiously, breaking the silence.

"Have you heard of Kenjaku?" Chu Yang replied.

The name seemed familiar, but Geto couldn't place it.

"He's a sorcerer from the same era as Sukuna," Chu Yang explained.

"Then he should've been dead for centuries. Why mention him now?"

"Because he's not dead."

Geto was about to express disbelief but hesitated, recalling the state of Tengen.

"Is his technique like Tengen's?"

"Somewhat. To be precise, it's parasitic. Kenjaku abandoned most of his body, keeping only his brain, which he transplants into hosts to achieve immortality."

Chu Yang's tone grew heavier as he continued. "After possessing a body, Kenjaku can use both his innate technique and that of the host."

Geto's face darkened as he grasped the implication.

"Kenjaku wants my Cursed Spirit Manipulation?"

"If you had died at Jujutsu High today, he would've taken your body immediately. But since you survived…"

Geto completed the thought grimly, "He'll hunt me down, kill me, and take my body."

"That's roughly the situation."

After finishing his explanation, Chu Yang sat down on the sofa, crossed his legs, and waited for Suguru Geto to digest the shocking news.

Kenjaku's reputation was infamous. To make a perhaps imperfect comparison, he and Ryomen Sukuna were like the Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo of that era—if not even more formidable.

"Do you think I'll lose?"

"It's not about losing; it's about definitely dying."

"Why are you so sure?"

"Someone capable of leaving their name in history—how weak could they possibly be?"

Suguru Geto let out a long sigh. "I haven't even had time to celebrate my narrow escape from death, and now Kenjaku shows up. Why is everyone so eager to take my life?"

Chu Yang teased, "He needs your power. So do I. Fundamentally speaking, there's no difference between us—just a matter of methods."

Leaning against the sofa with an air of resignation, Suguru Geto retorted, "Oh, there's a big difference. At least I'm still alive. I really don't want anyone using my body for weird things."

"If that day ever comes, make sure you destroy my body."

There was also a minibar in the room, though no one knew whose hobby it catered to. Chu Yang stood up, walked over to it, pulled out a bottle of champagne from the counter, and grabbed two flutes.

"I didn't come here just to warn you that someone's targeting you. I've already said, your life belongs to me. Even if you want to die, you'll need my permission first."

Chu Yang poured two glasses of champagne. Just when Suguru Geto thought he was about to receive one, Chu Yang downed both glasses himself, then smiled at him.

"This sort of twisted humor of yours is just like Gojo's. Is it that people as strong as you inevitably have a few screws loose?"

Annoyed, Suguru Geto walked over to the bar and poured himself a drink.

The next moment, the two raised their glasses.

"Here's to a smooth collaboration."

...

On the streets of Kyoto and Shinjuku, after the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons had ended, the Jujutsu High logistics department was cleaning up. Damaged public infrastructure was being repaired or compensated for as needed.

In an unoccupied, shadowy corner, a pair of sinister eyes silently observed the scene.

"Suguru Geto is presumed dead. Proceed according to plan."
