Chapter 146: Chapter 96: Both God and Devil

Chapter 96: Both God and Devil

The injured Maki Zenin pulled out a new cursed tool from her bag. She still didn't pick any protective gear but opted for a katana this time.

"She's so stubborn…"

Gojo Satoru helplessly rubbed his temples but couldn't hide the admiration in his eyes.

Obsession often drives people further, toward the pinnacle.

Chu Yang admired her determination as well and decided to give her some pointers. If she could glean anything from it, it would be her good fortune.

"Hand me a sword."

Maki's eyes lit up at his words. She quickly handed over the katana in her hands and fetched another one from her bag.

The two resumed their sparring.

This time, Chu Yang intentionally suppressed nearly 90% of his strength; otherwise, it would still be a one-hit KO.

Maki Zenin grew cautious. Unlike her earlier style with the naginata, which was bold and wide-ranging, she stayed on the edge of Chu Yang's attack range.

However, Maki was unaware of the level Chu Yang's swordsmanship had reached.

Even without his Observation Haki, Chu Yang could discern her next move just by observing her stance.

Though it seemed like an evenly matched fight, Gojo Satoru noticed something off. Chu Yang's movements were too relaxed, as if he was waiting for Maki's katana to come at him.

"This guy doesn't just excel in hand-to-hand combat; his swordsmanship is also exceptional... No, it's ridiculously strong!"

As he spoke, Gojo witnessed Chu Yang unleash a slash several meters long, carving a deep trench into the sports field.

"Hey, hey, you're kidding, right? This level of power rivals a cursed technique!"

Gojo became more and more intrigued, as if uncovering a juicy secret.

"Even casual slashes have this level of impact. It's hard to believe that just a few months ago, this guy was an ordinary salaryman…"

Even Nanami Kento couldn't maintain his usual composure. He unconsciously leaned forward, closely observing the sparring match.

"Amazing!"

Yuta Okkotsu's eyes sparkled.

Chu Yang's combat style not only suited Maki Zenin but also resonated with him. By enhancing his body with cursed energy, he could barely keep up with Chu Yang's strength.

"Maki looks so excited, even though her arm is injured. Her movements are still so intense," Panda commented with a mix of worry and admiration. As her friend, he knew how much this battle would transform her.

Initially, he thought it was an evenly matched exchange where both could learn from each other. But that wasn't the case at all.

Chu Yang's close-combat skills were the strongest Panda had ever seen. As a fellow melee fighter, he learned a lot from watching.

"Takoyaki."

Toge Inumaki nodded in agreement.

Maki Zenin was indeed in an extremely excited state. Chu Yang's display of possibilities had opened up a vision of her future.

After about ten minutes, the intense fight pushed Maki to her limit. Her arm was swollen, and a fracture seemed inevitable.

Chu Yang decided to stop. Continuing would result in irreversible injuries for her.

Throughout the battle, Chu Yang alternated between swordsmanship styles from One Piece, Demon Slayer, and Bleach.

The styles were distinct yet led to the same result. Whether Maki Zenin comprehended this was up to her.

Perhaps due to exhaustion, Maki stumbled while retreating. The spectators, including Panda, rushed to check her injuries, marking the end of the fight.

Gojo Satoru and Nanami Kento also approached the center of the field.

"Excuse me, everyone, make way," Gojo said, nudging Panda aside.

He crouched and covered Maki's injured arm with cursed energy. A miraculous scene unfolded as the swelling subsided, and her arm returned to its normal size.

"Reversed Cursed Technique. Its principle is like a double negative creating a positive, enabling cursed energy to have healing properties."

Chu Yang watched the process intently.

Reversed Cursed Technique isn't a cursed technique but a highly complex application of cursed energy. Its difficulty is second only to Black Flash, and few can master it.

Most practitioners can only use it to heal themselves. Currently, only Gojo Satoru and Shoko Ieiri can heal others.

In the future, Yuta Okkotsu and Ryomen Sukuna, the "King of Curses," would also master it.

In terms of healing effects, Reversed Cursed Technique surpassed Chu Yang's life force regeneration—it could even instantly heal lethal injuries like brain damage.

After treating Maki, Gojo stood up, stretched, and joked, "Were you some kind of prodigy in kendo during school?"

Chu Yang chuckled wryly. "If I were, I wouldn't have ended up as a salaryman."

"Fair point." Gojo nodded, smiling slyly. "In just a few months, you've accumulated combat experience and techniques that surpass even jujutsu sorcerers who've been active for decades. Honestly, it's shocking. At this rate, you might surpass me soon…"

Chu Yang sneered. "You're praising me on the surface but really complimenting yourself. Shameless."

"Hahaha!" Gojo burst out laughing.

Nanami Kento shook his head and left. Spending another second near Gojo was unbearable.

"Nanami is leaving. Aren't you?" Gojo asked Chu Yang.

"I'm tired. I'll rest here. As for guarding Tokyo, I'll leave it to you seniors. I'm skipping work."

Chu Yang waved lazily.

"The more curses we exorcise, the higher the rewards. It's rare for someone like you to give up on money."

"Do you know what salarymen hate the most?"

"Nanami said it's overtime!"

"Correct. By the way, I filed for leave last night, only for it to be canceled this morning. My mood isn't great right now."

"That makes sense." Gojo sympathized. He turned to Panda and the others. "Take Maki to rest and prepare a place for him to sleep."

The Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, led by Suguru Geto, was, in Gojo's eyes, doomed to fail. Even without Chu Yang's participation, the outcome wouldn't change.

However, no one knew that Suguru Geto's true target was Yuta Okkotsu.

Similarly, no one knew that Chu Yang's target was Suguru Geto.

December 24, 2017 – Christmas Eve

The normally bustling streets of Shinjuku and Kyoto were eerily deserted, save for numerous jujutsu sorcerers standing guard.

Most second-year students were stationed in Kyoto, working with the Kyoto Jujutsu High.

Only Toge Inumaki and Panda were sent to Shinjuku as backup, alongside upperclassmen.

Gojo Satoru and Masamichi Yaga were there as well.

In the dim neon lights, the city's shadowy corners grew saturated with the stench of curses.

Eerie laughter echoed suddenly as curses surged forth, flooding the streets like relentless waves.

Masamichi Yaga reminded the sorcerers to minimize damage to infrastructure and prioritize protecting any civilians they encountered.

"Lastly, exorcise all the curses!"

"Move out!"

At Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin were chatting in the classroom. Both were barred from action—one as a non-combatant and the other due to injuries.

Suddenly, they turned to look out the window.

A black veil began to shroud the sky above the school—a barrier (Curtain).

The caster could freely set entry and exit conditions, and anyone failing to meet the criteria couldn't enter.

This time, the barrier belonged to Suguru Geto, who had come for Yuta Okkotsu.

His goal: the special-grade curse, Rika Orimoto.

Upon noticing the intrusion, Maki rushed to retrieve her cursed tools, only to recall that Chu Yang had crushed her naginata with his bare hands a few days prior.

Her gaze fell on the katana, and memories of Chu Yang's swordsmanship flashed in her mind.

"Let's give it a shot!"

Maki took a deep breath, grabbed the katana, and dashed out.

But before she could go far, she ran into Chu Yang.

"Go back and rest," he said, taking the katana from her and walking away without looking back.
