Simultaneous Transmigration: From Japanese Anime to American Comics

Chapter 132: Chapter 91.2: No-brainer and Grumpy

"What should we do? We can't move the thing, and we've tried everything."

"If it won't budge, then build a lab around it. Make sure the area's secured."

"Understood."

Soon after, cranes and construction crews arrived in the desert, and S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel began bustling in and out. With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources, a fully-equipped research lab could be set up here within a day.

During this time, Chu Yang stayed by Mjolnir, studying the runes without budging an inch.

Coulson remained nearby, ensuring no one disturbed him. Even the nearby construction noise was minimized as much as possible.

"If only I could get in touch with Hogwarts," Chu Yang murmured to himself, feeling a bit drained from the prolonged study. "He's better with these symbols than I am."

The intense focus on decoding the runes had left Chu Yang feeling mentally exhausted, forcing him to pause for a breather.

By now, night had fallen, and the temporary lab was taking shape.

"Maybe you should rest a bit? You've been staring at that thing all day," Coulson said, looking concerned.

"The power of magic is deep and complex," Chu Yang stretched, yawning. "One day is nothing. Sometimes, it takes a month to grasp even a fraction of its mysteries."

"Pardon me, did I just hear you say 'magic'?" Coulson asked, narrowing his eyes.

Chu Yang, seeing no reason to hide it, nodded. "Aside from its unique material, the hammer is also imbued with magic, which makes it incredibly heavy."

Coulson shook his head. "That's not the point. The point is—how do you know it has magic?"

Chu Yang answered matter-of-factly, "Because I understand magic."

Coulson looked bewildered. "Do they teach that in college now?"

Chu Yang gave him a look that said, "Are you serious?"

Taking a deep breath, Coulson forced a smile. "Look, I get it. Students your age are often into fantasy novels and get a bit lost in imagination. I was like that when I was young, but—"

Chu Yang smiled faintly, pointed at Coulson, and whispered, "Tarantallegra!"

The Dancing Spell!

As the words left his mouth, Coulson's feet began to move uncontrollably, performing a street dance on the spot.

Coulson: "???"

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents passing by stopped in their tracks, eyes wide with shock.

"Agent Coulson! Who knew you could dance so well?"

"Give us a Thomas Flair, Agent Coulson!"

"Let's see…"

The watching agents, not satisfied with basic moves, began making requests.

"Make it stop!" Coulson begged, eyes wide with panic.

Chu Yang lifted the spell.

As Coulson stopped dancing, he slumped over, gasping for air.

If Chu Yang hadn't let him stop, would he have danced to death?

"It wouldn't go that far. Once you're too exhausted, your body would naturally stop," Chu Yang explained, almost as if he'd read Coulson's mind.

"I still don't believe it," Coulson said, shaking his head. "I know there are some skilled hypnotists who can make people do things like that. This must be hypnosis."

"I told you, it's magic."

Coulson stared at Chu Yang, searching his face for any hint of deception, but Chu Yang's expression was calm, not the least bit suspicious.

Chu Yang then cast a Levitation Charm, making a small rock at his feet rise into the air.

After a couple of seconds of staring, Coulson's jaw dropped. "Holy crab…"

A moment later, Coulson called Fury once again.

Having taken several of Coulson's calls already, Fury sounded annoyed. "This better be urgent!"

Coulson quickly replied, "That kid's a wizard!"

Fury, confused, asked, "Who?"

"Yang…"

Fury, shocked, said, "I thought he was a mutant?"

"I don't know if he's a mutant, but I'm sure he's a wizard. I saw him cast magic myself."

After a pause, Fury, sounding exasperated, replied, "I've dealt with mutants, aliens, and mad scientists, but this is the first time I've encountered a wizard."

"The Avengers Initiative needs to be fast-tracked."

"What about Yang?" Coulson asked.

"Leave him be. If he's a wizard, then he's a wizard. Not much different from a mutant. If we can recruit him, we will."

Coulson sighed, "I've tried every approach with him and Natasha, but he shows no interest in joining S.H.I.E.L.D. It seems he genuinely doesn't want to be a part of it."

"Don't force him," Fury said after a moment's thought. "Maintain surveillance. We have a good relationship with Tony Stark. He might join the Avengers, so let's keep things amicable."

Coulson nodded, "Understood."

Just after hanging up the phone, one of Agent Phil Coulson's subordinates approached and said, "Director Coulson, we found a few scientists nearby who documented some of last night's events. What would you like us to do?"

Phil Coulson decisively replied, "Confiscate everything they have. This matter cannot go public!"

The agent nodded, then cautiously reminded him, "Your friend is staring at that hammer again. Should we suggest he take a break?"

Phil Coulson shook his head. "Leave him alone. Let him do what he wants."

The next day, Phil led a team to the location where the scientists were.

These scientists weren't strangers—they were Thor's girlfriend Jane Foster, her friend Dr. Erik Selvig, and Jane's colleague, Darcy Lewis.

They had rescued Thor, who had been exiled by Odin, the All-Father, and documented everything that happened the previous night.

To ensure security, Coulson forcibly took all of their equipment, including numerous storage devices, which led to a significant conflict between both parties.

It was unfortunate Thor wasn't around then; otherwise, he likely would have fought the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents over this.

In the end, Dr. Erik managed to calm Jane down, preventing further confrontation with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Dr. Erik warned, "Whatever you do, don't get involved with S.H.I.E.L.D. I had a friend researching gamma rays who crossed them—he's been missing ever since."

What Erik didn't know was that his friend, Dr. Bruce Banner, had recently caused a massive disturbance in Virginia.

He could never have guessed that the green giant on TV was his old friend Banner.

Once she'd cooled down, Jane realized that opposing an official organization would lead nowhere. She had no choice but to drop the matter, though she was still seething.

Meanwhile, in town, Thor continued searching for Mjolnir and eventually learned of its whereabouts.

That evening, Thor returned to Jane's lab.

After some discussion, they decided to drive to the site of the crater.

"They're acting like bandits! Talking about security concerns—honestly, the most unsafe element in America is those guys in black suits!" Jane complained throughout the drive, venting about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s actions that day. Those materials represented the culmination of her life's work.

Thor smiled calmly and said, "Don't worry. Once I reclaim Mjolnir, I'll teach them a lesson and get back all of your research."

Jane found herself smiling at this mysteriously confident man. She didn't dislike him; in fact, she found it somewhat endearing.

Simultaneously, she grew curious about Thor's true identity.

He was polite yet seemed to have a penchant for making outlandish statements.

By nightfall, they arrived near the crater, where a massive research facility, surrounded by temporary structures, had been set up.

People in black suits were moving around everywhere, similar to those from earlier in the day.

"Is your hammer really in there?" Jane asked in shock. "Maybe we should come back another day?"

Before she could finish, Thor was already charging forward, sensing Mjolnir's presence nearby.

Suddenly, it began to rain heavily.

The patrolling agents spotted Thor charging toward them and issued a warning.

Thor, unfazed, barreled through them, sparking a fight.

Gunfire erupted.

The darkness and downpour hindered the agents' vision, preventing them from landing precise shots.

As for Thor, even without his powers, he was still the seasoned God of Thunder, with battle instincts deeply ingrained.

He broke through the darkness like a tiger into a flock of sheep, leaving the agents struggling to contain him.

In the shadows, a lone figure stood on a platform, aiming a bow and arrow at Thor, who was engaged in close combat with the agents.

Through his earpiece, he asked Phil, "Should I take the shot?"

Phil Coulson replied, "No. He might be our extraterrestrial friend. Just observe for now. If he isn't carrying anything suspicious, let him through."

Following Phil's instructions, the agents gradually reduced their efforts to restrain Thor, "allowing" him to carve a path directly to Mjolnir's location.

Thor kept moving forward, following his sense of the hammer's presence, and finally found Mjolnir. Just as he rejoiced, he noticed someone sitting next to the hammer—a young man.

The boy was staring at Mjolnir, seemingly lost in thought, muttering something under his breath, though Thor couldn't quite make out the words.

Judging the boy to be harmless, Thor moved forward, ready to grab Mjolnir. "Hey, kid, you'd better move back; you might get struck by lightning."

The boy suddenly looked up, his voice growing louder, and faint thunder rumbled.

As he waved his hands, Mjolnir began to glow with lightning and hovered in the air.

Thor stood there, mouth agape.

"What the hell!?"

Mjolnir floated for a second before falling back to the ground, but that brief moment was enough to leave Thor deeply shaken.

He rubbed his eyes, wondering if he'd just imagined it.

Chu Yang stroked his chin thoughtfully.

He had just deciphered a small fragment of the magic Odin had placed on Mjolnir, which was why the hammer had responded.

But it was only a small fragment, so he couldn't fully control it.

Chu Yang was about to continue experimenting when Thor interrupted him.

"Hey! Stop that!"

"That's my hammer!"

Thor rushed forward to stop Chu Yang and asked, "How did you do that?"

Seeing the man's flowing blond hair and muscular frame, Chu Yang knew this was the Thunder God, Thor.

"The power of this hammer is restricted by magic. I wanted to see if I could break the spell," Chu Yang replied honestly.

"This is my hammer. No one else can cast magic on it..."

Thor suddenly recalled the words his father Odin had spoken when he banished him.

"You are not worthy of becoming king!"

Thor's face darkened, and he turned around, grabbing Mjolnir, determined to lift it.

But…

Mjolnir felt as heavy as a mountain. His muscles bulged as he strained with all his might, but he couldn't budge it even an inch.

He was no longer worthy of wielding Mjolnir.

Realizing this hit Thor like a gut punch, leaving him despondent.

Rain mixed with mud covered him, making him look particularly miserable.
