Siblings with No Life Get Summoned to Another World as Detectives

Chapter 81: Memories Of A Maid (FINALE)

15 YEARS EARLIER

Little maid Lily looked out the carriage window the moment she felt it stop. She saw a massive building — one they called the White House.

The driver opened the door. The children, along with Vorenhart, stepped out and entered the building. "Woooow!" the kids shouted, staring at the beautiful walls.

Lily was stunned by the architecture. "This is my new home…" she thought.

One of the older butlers took them and led each of them to their rooms. In one room were the maids, and in another the butlers — separate rooms for boys and girls.

Lily settled in with her roommates, and after dinner she went to bed. Staring at the ceiling, she wondered, "A wish… what should I wish for?"

About ten days passed, and Lily still hadn't done anything noteworthy. She slowly began to think she wouldn't manage to become the best maid.

Then she met him.

"I'm Kenji. Nice to meet you," one of the older butlers said, offering his hand to the little Lily.

Lily raised her head and looked at him with her big eyes. He looked to be around thirty, with shoulder-length black hair that curled at the ends.

"H-hello…" Lily whispered, stuttering.

"Isn't this Lily… You know… I wanted to talk to you," Kenji said, looking around to make sure no one was listening.

They went to a separate room to speak privately. "I want to help you get that wish…" he said with a slightly twisted smile.

Lily swallowed. "W-why me…?" she asked quietly, staring at the floor. She felt uneasy.

"Because you're the prettiest among the girls," Kenji said bluntly.

Lily stepped back, frightened. "What do you want from me?"

"When you get your wish, you have to become my wife," he said confidently, stepping toward her.

She instinctively stepped back, pressing against the wall. "Your wife?" she repeated — but then she nodded, her eyes shining. "If that's what I have to do to earn my wish, then yes! I AGREE!"

Kenji smiled. "Perfect. You just keep doing what you normally do, and I'll make sure you win from behind the scenes."

Lily clenched her fist. "I'll do it. I'll get my wish no matter what. I'll finally have a place in this world… finally a purpose!"

She followed his instructions, working as usual. And when the month ended, Vorenhart chose the main maid and butler.

Just like Kenji promised, Lily was chosen.

Vorenhart took her to a private room to make her wish.

"This is my moment! I know exactly what I'm going to wish for!"

"Are you ready for your wish?" Vorenhart asked.

"I'm ready!" Lily shouted. "I-I wish—"

"My moment is finally here…"

"I wish you'd make me obey your every command!" Lily shouted, clenching her fists.

"Oh… that I didn't expect. Very well — just promise you'll obey me and every future president."

"I promise!"

Vorenhart gently patted her head. "Good. You may go."

Lily stepped into the hallway and looked down at her hands. "I actually did it… I finally belong somewhere… I finally have a purpose…"

But as she walked, someone grabbed her shoulder and dragged her into the kitchen. It was Kenji.

"D-did you get your wish?" he asked with degenerate, twisted smile.

"Yes! I got it!" Lily beamed.

"You didn't forget our deal, right?"

"O-of course not! I'll be your wife!"

Kenji nodded proudly. "Good. You won't need to stay here anymore. You'll live with me. You'll be happy there."

"Yes!" Lily cheered. "And then I'll come here to work!"

Kenji blinked. "No… you won't work here anymore."

"I-I won't…?"

"No. You'll do housework. There's no reason for you to come back here."

"No more working here? But… this is my purpose… I need to stay… I want to stay…"

"You'll forget this dusty place. You'll live with me. You'll have children for me and we'll be very happy!"

"It's the only thing I have…"

"You'll wash dishes, laundry, mop floors—"

"I-I… I…"

"You'll take care of the children, go shopping, make beds—"

"I WON'T LET THAT HAPPEN!" she screamed, and then her Legendary Core — TOKIYO — activated for the very first time.

Time stopped around her. She looked around, wondering where all the sounds had disappeared to, and then her eyes fell on Kenji.

He was completely still, frozen with a shocked expression. She waved a few times in front of his face. "Did… did I do this?" she asked, bewildered.

"It doesn't matter," she said, trying to steady herself. "I need to do something, but what…? If time resumes right now, he'll take me away…"

Lily started thinking, but only one idea came to her. "I-I have to… kill him…" she whispered, then looked down at her hands.

"I have to stain my hands if I want to survive…" she muttered to herself, then grabbed a kitchen knife off the table. Her hands trembled as she held it, staring at Kenji.

"I have to do this!" she told herself, convincing her own mind that this was the right choice. She took a deep breath and tried to stab him — but nothing happened.

The blade bounced off his body as if he were made of stone. "What…?" she whispered, dropping the knife. Instead of falling to the floor, it stopped mid-air the moment it slipped from Lily's fingers.

"Do I have to be holding it?" she wondered. She picked up the knife and tried throwing it at the wall, but it froze again the moment it left her hand.

"Then we'll do it this way…" she said, taking the knife again. She aimed at Kenji and threw it in his direction. "When I unfreeze time, it should fly forward and pierce him right in the forehead…"

To be 100% sure she'd kill him, she grabbed several more knives and aimed them from different angles. "This should work…"

"Now to unfreeze time… Unfreeze!" she shouted, stretching out her hands — but nothing changed. "How do I unfreeze time?" she wondered.

She tried several more times, but nothing happened. She sat down on the floor and traced circles on it with her finger. "What do I do now?" she whispered.

Suddenly, she heard someone calling her from another room. "Lily…" It was faint, barely there, but she heard that small, weak voice. It sounded like a child.

She stood up and followed the sound. She wandered through the White House for a while, but found no one unfrozen. "Who called me?" she muttered.

She sat down again, staring into the empty hallway. Then more sounds reached her. This time it wasn't a voice — it was her own heartbeat.

THUMP! THUMP!

THUMP! THUMP!

THUMP! THUMP!

More sounds joined in. She slowly began to hear her stomach digesting food—

HFFF! HFFF! HFFF!

BLOB! BLOB! BLOB!

Then the soft twisting of her intestines with every tiny movement. Even her lungs expanding and contracting.

"Lily…" the voice echoed again.

Lily's breathing grew frantic, her heartbeat louder and faster. She moved her hand just a little — and she could hear the bending of cartilage and bone.

"Lily…"

She looked left and right, searching for the source, but nothing was there.

Her eyes widened as she tried to understand what was happening. She couldn't bear it — all those sounds, all those whispers. Every second her mind was slipping.

"Lily…" This time the voice was closer.

Inside her ear. Or inside her head.

Her throat tightened.

If she didn't find a way to unfreeze time soon… she knew exactly what would happen.

Her mind would tear itself apart long before the world started moving again.

She jumped up and ran to the kitchen. She threw the door open, rushed to a cabinet, grabbed the largest pot she could find, and then a ladle.

She placed the pot between her legs, held the ladle in her hands, and started banging on it. She made as much noise as she could, desperate to drown out the other, unbearable sounds.

"What is happening…?" she thought as she struck the pot over and over.

After hours of constant banging, her arm gave out. She had no strength left. She looked around and saw that time was still frozen.

She collapsed to the floor and fell asleep from exhaustion.

"Lily… Lily… Lily…" she heard in her dream, and then she felt someone shaking her. She slowly opened her eyes and saw an older woman in a maid uniform, looking at her with concern.

Lily rubbed her eyes. "W-what happened…?"

"It seems you fainted…" the maid said, then glanced toward Kenji's dead body. "Could you tell me what happened later?" she asked gently.

Lily nodded softly. "I guess everything's fine now…" she thought.

15 YEARS LATER

"I think that was the closest I ever came to losing my innocence…" Lily thought as Kai untied her ropes. "But now it's really happening… I could cry…"

"All done," Kai said softly, freeing her wrists.

Lily looked at him, then shyly turned her head away, unable to meet his eyes.

"You know… we don't have to do this if you don't want to," Kai said gently.

"He… he isn't treating me like an object anymore…? It doesn't matter…"

"Be gentle… it's my first time…" she whispered.

"It's my first time too," Kai answered, stepping closer.

Lily blushed, inhaling deeply. She gave him one quick glance, then shyly looked away again. She was happy — truly happy — that this moment had finally come.

"After so many years… the time has finally come… Mom… I hope you're proud of me…

I finally have a purpose in my life."
