Siblings with No Life Get Summoned to Another World as Detectives

Chapter 53: Kitsuna (Part 2)

There — looming high above them, almost brushing against the ceiling itself — hovered Kitsuna. Her form was bathed in a cold, unnatural light, her wings spread wide as if she had torn herself free from the heavens.

The tips of her feathers glimmered faintly, but the aura around her was anything but angelic — it was sharp, suffocating, brimming with fury.

Her crimson eyes burned like coals, locking onto them with such intensity. When she opened her mouth, the voice that poured out was not entirely her own — it was warped, trembling with venom and pain, a hateful echo.

"I trusted you," she roared, every word reverberating through the chamber, "and you betrayed me!"

Kai forced himself forward, though his knees threatened to give way. His throat was dry, and the words scraped out of him with a mixture of fear and desperate hope.

"It's okay, Kitsuna… just come down… we can talk…" His voice cracked, softer at the end, almost pleading.

But Kitsuna did not move — she only hovered, wings beating steadily, glaring down at them like a fallen goddess poised to unleash her wrath.

"NO!" Kitsuna's voice raw and dripping with fury. Her entire body trembled as the sound echoed off the walls. Her eyes flared, glowing brighter, almost inhuman. "YOU KILLED ME… so now I'll kill you!"

The chamber fell silent for a single, dreadful heartbeat — until Mei broke it with a dry, almost mocking remark.

"Another boss fight?" she muttered, trying to mask her unease with sarcasm.

Kitsuna's eyes snapped to her, a predator's gaze, cold and merciless. She folded her wings slightly — an eerily calm motion that made the siblings tense — and then, with explosive speed, spread them wide.

A storm of metallic feathers erupted, spinning through the air like knives. They hissed as they cut through the space around them, embedding into the stone and echoing with deadly precision.

Kai and Mei twisted and dodged, narrowly avoiding the deadly cascade of metallic feathers. And somehow, by some miracle or sheer instinct, they remained unharmed.

Kai's eyes landed on one of the feathers that had lodged itself in the stone floor. It was massive, gleaming like molten gold, yet unnervingly cold and hard — entirely forged from iron.

Cautiously, he stepped closer, his hand reaching toward the edge. The moment his fingers brushed it, a thin line of blood welled up, a sharp sting running up his hand.

"If this hits us in the wrong place, we're dead in a second…" he muttered.

"Move!" Mei shouted and without a second thought, she lashed out, kicking Kai sharply in the back. He stumbled forward, barely escaping the deadly arc of another barrage of metallic feathers Kitsuna had just unleashed.

Despite the chaos, luck kept both of them unharmed, not even a scratch marking their skin.

"Luck doesn't exist…" she muttered, eyes drifting for just a heartbeat in an unspoken direction.

"How do we defeat that creature?" Kai asked.

Kitsuna was flying far too high for them to even reach her. They didn't stand a chance of killing her — not with their current powers.

"Let's just keep dodging, maybe we'll get an opening…" Mei suggested.

Kai said nothing, only followed her plan.

They kept leaping, avoiding the iron feathers, but Kitsuna didn't like that. After two or three volleys, she stopped. "Stand still!" she screamed, hurling feathers once again — but once more, in vain.

She grew so furious that her talisman began filling with black energy. "ENOUGH!" she roared, then dove down with her wings, head-first into the floor.

When she hit, a spiraling wave of black energy spread out everywhere, pushing away everything in its path.

The siblings didn't even have time to react. The wave was so fast and so strong it flung them and smashed them against the wall.

BAM!

Their bodies slammed into the stone wall of the chamber.

They slumped to the ground, ears ringing, eyes trembling. A sharp pain coursed through their entire bodies.

"Nyaaaaaaahhhhhh—haaahhhhhh!!" Mei's scream tore through the chamber, a raw, unrestrained sound that seemed to reverberate off the walls and shake the dust from the ceiling.

Almost instantly, her voice cracked and she broke into uncontrollable sobbing, the kind that wracks the body from the inside out.

Tears streamed freely down her face, hot and unrelenting. Her shoulders shook with every hiccuping breath, and each sniffle was a tiny surrender to the agony she had been bottling up.

In moments like this, most people would be screaming in fear, fighting desperately for survival, or paralyzed by shock. Crying seemed like a luxury, an indulgence that no one could afford.

But the brutal crash into the wall had shattered Mei's "tough shell" the mask of stoicism she had clung to so tightly and for the first time, the raw, fragile human inside her clawed its way out.

All the emotions Mei had buried deep inside began to surge uncontrollably, spilling out like a dam finally broken.

Every fear, every frustration, every word she had locked away in the corners of her mind now clawed its way to the surface.

She couldn't contain it anymore — no walls, no defenses, no bravado could hold back the storm raging within her.

She might have been strong, confident, brilliant — someone who could face down enemies and schemes with a steady hand — but even she was not invincible against a blow like this, not emotionally. This was a wound that struck the heart, one that no armor could deflect.

Her crying grew heavier, raw and unfiltered. Each tear that streaked down her face carried the weight of pain, sorrow, and frustration she had long suppressed.

Every sob shook her body, a testament to the vulnerability she had kept hidden from the world, now laid bare in the harsh, unforgiving light of the present.

Her brother, teetering on the edge of consciousness, forced his gaze toward her. He didn't know how to slay the monstrous figure hovering above them, nor did he have the strength to even stand against it, but one truth pierced through the chaos: his sister needed him.

And if giving her comfort meant risking, even sacrificing, his own life, then he had no choice but to act.

He lifted his right arm, only to recoil as he saw it bent at an unnatural angle, bone clearly broken. Pain shot through him, sharp and undeniable, but he ignored it.

Clenching his teeth against the agony, he shifted his weight and wrapped his left arm around Mei's neck, hoisting her onto his shoulder with a determined grunt.

Mei didn't stop crying. Her sobs racked her body as if trying to purge every ounce of anguish inside her. Salty tears soaked through his sleeve, dripping down onto his chest, but Kai held her firmly, letting her pour out all the emotions she had been bottling up.

In that moment, the world outside — the chaos, the flying feathers, the deadly presence of Kitsuna — faded into insignificance. All that mattered was that she was not alone.

"Just cry…" Kai whispered, kissing her forehead.

Kitsuna rose to her feet and began walking slowly toward Kai and Mei.

"Don't worry about anything… just let it all out…" Kai murmured, gently stroking the back of her head with his good hand.

"Isn't that sweet…?" Kitsuna's voice dripped with venom, the words more of a sneer than a question. She stepped even closer, looming over them.

Without warning, her hand shot out and gripped Mei's chin, forcing her to lift her tear-streaked face and meet the blazing fury in Kitsuna's eyes.

"How dare you have a brother complex, you ROTTEN WHORE!?" Kitsuna screamed, her voice a violent, jagged whip of rage. Her hand struck Mei across the face with brutal force.

Kai's grip on Mei tightened instinctively, his body trembling with anger and helplessness.

Mei's sobs intensified, her cries echoing through the chamber like a wounded animal. "Nyaaaaaaahhhhhh—haaahhhhhh!!" The sound was raw and uncontrollable.

"Shut up already!" Kitsuna barked. In one swift, merciless motion, she lifted her foot, aiming a brutal kick straight for Mei's face.

But before it could land, Kai acted. Without hesitation, he turned his back to her, taking the blow himself.

Pain shot up his spine as the force slammed into him, but his body remained a shield, unwavering despite the agony.

He glared at Kitsuna, eyes blazing with silent fury. His gaze said: Don't touch her!

Kitsuna lowered her foot. "Shameless! You've been with him since birth, and you want even more!? He's not just yours — give me a chance too!" she screamed, her breath turning ragged.

Her body trembled as energy filled her. Her breathing quickened, ready to explode — but before she could unleash her ultimate strike, a girl in a bunny outfit appeared, landing beside Kitsuna and scratching her face with her heel.

"If you want a fight, fight me," Miyuki declared, watching Kitsuna rise again before turning to the siblings. "Protect Mei!" she shouted, then charged.

Kai held Mei tighter, giving her as much comfort as he could.

"B-bro…" she stammered through her tears, raising her battered face slightly to look at him.

"Say it…" Kai whispered softly.

"Why did you lie to me?"

Miyuki began sprinting up the wall, climbing higher and higher. Then she leapt at Kitsuna. With no time to dodge or prepare, Kitsuna flinched.

Miyuki pulled a knife from her thigh and stabbed it into Kitsuna's neck. Instead of blood, black smoke poured out. "You'll never kill me!" Kitsuna shrieked, then with a snap of her wings blasted Miyuki back against the wall.

Miyuki slammed into it hard, catching herself with one hand to slow her fall. Her white bunny ears drooped slightly from the pain.

"What are you talking about?" Kai asked.

"Y-you told me y-you lost… your virginity…" Mei muttered, barely speaking through her sobs.

"Y-yeah… I did…" Kai answered.

"Don't lie to me…" she whimpered, trying to hide all the hurt boiling inside her.

Kai looked down at the floor.

Miyuki slid halfway down the wall, then finally caught herself. "I'm not finished!" she cried, pulling a Power Ball from her waist.

She gripped it tight, then hurled it at Kitsuna. The Power Ball exploded on impact, but it barely hurt her.

"See? You can't touch me!" Kitsuna shouted maliciously.

Kai still stared at the ground, but finally gathered the strength to look Mei in the eyes.

"I'm sorry…" he whispered, almost ashamed.

Kai had never even had the time to lose his virginity.

"Why did you lie to me? About Lilith and Silfy" his sister asked again, her tears dripping onto the stone floor.

Kai thought for a moment. "Why…? Why did I pretend I had lost it?" Then finally answered.

"I don't know…"

Miyuki, realizing she had no other choice, clicked her tongue and began climbing down the wall.

Kitsuna looked at her with a half-angry, half-disappointed expression. "But the fun has just begun!" she shrieked, hurling iron feathers after her.

Miyuki dodged the deadly feathers and sprinted toward the siblings.

"I'm so—" Kai began, but Mei stopped him.

"Did you do it because of me?" she asked, hope flickering in her eyes. Her tears had stopped, her face glowing faintly.

Kai didn't know how to answer, so he waited a second, silently powerless. Just as he opened his mouth, Miyuki rushed in and grabbed them both.

She tossed them into the elevator, planting another Power Ball at the entrance before pressing the button. She leapt inside with them and hit the button to go up.

Kitsuna charged at them full speed, but the Power Ball exploded, collapsing stone debris over the doors.

The elevator ascended, carrying them upward. Kai and Mei couldn't even look at each other. Her tears had begun to fade, leaving only salty streaks on her cheeks, her eyes bloodshot red.

"Do you think I can't escape this place?" The question was aimed at the siblings, but with Kitsuna alone in the chamber, it only bounced off the walls, echoing pointlessly into the void.
