Chapter 53: Wrath of Wenwu!
-24 Hours Till Deadline-
As Wenwu left Ying Li with their children, he began to pace through his mansion, trying to alleviate the stress that had accumulated from the revelations of the past hours.
Half an hour after Ying Li's revival, Leon's Anbu delivered a portfolio of photographs to see if she could identify any of her assailants. After reviewing the images, she identified two individuals: Toshiro Mori and Sunil Bakshi, HYDRA agents responsible for Ying Li's death.
Wenwu scrutinized all the intelligence reports and the list of HYDRA moles within SHIELD. To his dismay, he realized he had previously ignored HYDRA, considering them insignificant. He had been preoccupied with other adversaries deemed more worthy of his attention.
Now after finding out, they had been responsible for his wife's death, they were now on his shit list and will suffer his wrath like none other had before.
He was determined to destroy them for his beloved Ying Ying. She had always been too kind, a trait he adored, yet her resurrection changed her. She harbored no kindness for HYDRA and SHIELD, who were responsible for her death and had put her children in danger.
Consequently, she did not deter him; rather, she spurred him on to eradicate any threat to her family, believing they would be safer with such corruption eradicated from the world. HYDRA and SHIELD became the targets of his wrath, and their underestimation of his reach and power would lead to their downfall.
Moreover, she was delighted about the engagement to the Uzumaki's children and eagerly anticipated having grandchildren, especially since the Uzumaki family was remarkably impressive in looks and physics.
He convened a meeting with all who had completed treatment or were able to move, despite Leon's unconventional welcome. With half of his organization still under the care of the Uzumaki, the situation was dire.
"Who greets with violence as if saying hello?"
Gathered with his inner circle, the most loyal of his commanders and strategists, Wenwu presented the facts. The consequences of Hydra's actions were undeniable, and the course they would take was clear. This assembly was more than a tactical discussion; it was a declaration of war against a foe bold enough to attack the core of his domain.
"A few hours ago, it was revealed that on the day my wife was killed, HYDRA and SHIELD were the ones who deliberately attacked my organization. The Ten Rings was at peace, striving for the maintenance of peace within our nation."
"The attack has severely damaged my organization's reputation, which I believed had been resolved by the triad. However, they were merely pawns used by HYDRA and SHIELD. Their arrogance has now awakened a giant."
Wenwu declared, his voice steady yet tinged with an undercurrent of fury.
"They aimed to weaken us, to test my strength. They will soon realize the true extent of their mistake."
The plan was complex, utilizing the vast resources of the Ten Rings, both covertly and overtly. Wenwu's network of informants and spies would provide him with names and locations. Once he had that information, he would take action himself.
He would demonstrate why pursuing him had been a grave mistake as they fell by his own hands. He would exact his revenge, secure justice for his family, and ensure no one could ever threaten them again.
After purging China of their influence, he would then turn his attention to Japan. It was an opportune moment since the Hand had been taken out by Uzumaki's forces. He planned to dismantle Hydra and, in gratitude for the return of his wife, forge a stronger alliance with Uzumaki's faction.
"Direct our cells and operatives in Europe and the Middle East to scour for any HYDRA and SHIELD safe houses and secret bases, as they're being targeted by the Continental, losing all their strongholds to that entity," Wenwu commanded, slamming down the dossier provided by Leon detailing the concealed HYDRA locations.
Wenwu's strategy was clear: dismantling Hydra's influence piece by piece, starting from China and then moving globally, with Japan and the elimination of the Hand was a pivotal next step. His decision to engage directly, to be at the forefront of this war, was a testament to the depth of his commitment to vengeance and justice. He was not just the leader of the Ten Rings; he was a man on a mission to right a profound wrong.
The meeting ended with an unmistakable urgency. Wenwu's lieutenants scattered, each tasked with missions that fed into the overarching objective of Hydra's downfall. The informant network intensified their surveillance, collecting names, locations, and any piece of intelligence that might bring them nearer to their quarry.
-20 Hours Until Deadline-
Wenwu exited the vehicle and approached the edifice, his entourage flanking and following him. Their equipment and arms immediately alarmed the surrounding civilians.
Within moments, panic ensued, and the crowd erupted into screams and chaos. Wenwu's gaze, filled with contempt, fixed on the building's entrance. His halt prompted his men to pause, anticipating his lead.
The wait was brief; Wenwu lifted an arm, unleashing his rings' might. A destructive surge blasted the structure, shattering the fortified security doors and walls as profoundly as his heart had been shattered by his wife's demise.
This action was the cue his troops awaited as they surged into the building. Wenwu, fueled by rage, entered the fray. His rings radiated with his wrath, obliterating any opposition with ease.
The barrage of bullets halted before reaching him, shielded by his rings. Wenwu's entry into the stronghold resounded like a monster, instilling a wave of fear among the defenders. The unassuming fortress, once concealed in plain view, now set the scene for a vendetta driven by loss and fury.
As he moved forward, his troops fanned out, clashing with the stronghold's guards. The air filled with the din of gunfire, the clash of steel, and the hum of the rings' power.
"Secure the perimeter! Ensure no one escapes!"
Wenwu's order sliced through the turmoil. His soldiers responded with affirming cries, executing their maneuvers with honed precision. The defenders, though skilled, were clearly unsettled by the sheer force of their adversary.
He propelled himself by an unstoppable momentum and disregarded their territorial advantage. He plunged into their hastily erected defenses. Despite the onslaught of bullets and grenades, the ten rings rendered him untouchable.
Wenwu stood resolute, his rings thrumming with power.
"Do you dare oppose me?"
His voice thundered with command. With a deft movement, he released an energy wave, toppling his assailants. The rings granted him the ability to shape the air itself, erecting barriers and propelling missiles with pinpoint accuracy.
His purpose was not simply to fell his foes; thus, as they lay vulnerable, he sent forth massive torrents of fire from his arms. Causing his enemies to scream loudly as they burned to death.
Alone, he would have been more than enough to take out this base, yet he wasn't alone; his loyal men had surrounded the building, and piles of bloody corpses were forming outside the entrances as those who tried to flee were shot down without mercy.
Delving further into the stronghold's core, the battle's ferocity intensified. The defenders, recognizing the severity of the menace, engaged their automated defenses. Turrets sprang from concealed alcoves in the walls, their guns swiveling to aim at the invader.
Wenwu, undeterred, stretched out his arms, his rings ablaze with intense luminescence. With a focused surge of power, he neutralized the turrets, warping them into contorted iron figures that bore witness to his might.
The corridors resounded with the clamor of battle, a labyrinth filled with the chaos of gunfire and demise. Wenwu's forces clashed violently with anonymous agents, the atmosphere dense with the scent of gunpowder and the sharp tang of blood.
Despite their numerical strength and strategic preparation, the agents found themselves decisively outclassed and subdued by Wenwu and his troops; their conventional tactics and armaments paled in comparison to the mystical might of the rings.
Confronting a contingent of agents barricaded behind an improvised defense, their firearms aimed down the hallway, Wenwu advanced without a moment's pause, an unstoppable force of nature.
As a barrage of bullets targeted him, he lifted a hand, conjuring an air shield that diverted them effortlessly. Upon reaching the barricade, he released a formidable blast, hurling agents asunder, their cries lost amidst the cacophony of fracturing bone and rending steel.
Today, there would be neither prisoners nor mercy. Wenwu penetrated the depths of the facility, breaching every defense meant to halt him. Now, before him stood not seasoned combatants but shaking scientists and officials.
In the heart of the base's command center, he reveled in the destruction he had wrought, the air thick with the stench of blood and demise, saturated with palpable dread. Such chaos was a missed pleasure.
His reflections were interrupted by a man's futile attempt to shoot him. The bullet, like all others, posed no threat, halting mid-flight before his face and then clattering to the ground.
The man's eyes grew wide with the realization of his act's futility. With a mere wrist flick, Wenwu unleashed a wind that stripped him of his weapon, casting it into the dark recesses.
His plea came, quivering with fear:
"Please, spare us!"
Wenwu's gaze was steadfast, his voice as cold as steel.
"There will be no mercy for those who oppose me."
With those words, he released a burst of energy from the rings, sending a wave of power that swept across the room, leaving a hushed silence behind.
As the stronghold's defenders lay defeated, Wenwu gestured to his men to begin the next stage of their plan. A specialized team, adept in cyber operations, swiftly approached the command center's computers.
They initiated the careful task of data extraction, breaking into the facility's secured files with both precision and swiftness. The monitors flickered, data streaming in, unveiling the scope of the operations, the whereabouts of additional facilities, and the identities of principal agents.
"Sir, we've penetrated the mainframe,"
Declared one of the operatives, his gaze fixed on the swiftly changing displays.
"We've obtained all the information we need."
Wenwu nodded, his mind already on the next target.
"Download everything. Leave nothing behind."
As the data transfer finished, he observed his men planting explosives throughout the building. The charges were placed with precision, ensuring complete destruction that would erase any trace of their presence and the building's secrets.
With one last look at the stronghold, once a fortress of his adversaries, Wenwu and his crew left the premises. They proceeded deliberately, distancing themselves from the impending devastation and advancing towards their next victory.
At a safe distance, Wenwu paused to view the structure one final time.
"Bring it down!"
He commanded, his tone emotionless.
The blast was colossal, a blazing inferno that engulfed the building, turning it into debris and dust. The shockwave surged through the air, showcasing Wenwu's formidable power.
The fire lit up the night, casting elongated shadows that flickered in the aftermath of the destruction. Turning his back, the reflection of the flames glinted in his eyes. The stronghold's ruin marked the beginning of his revenge campaign.
Armed with the secured data, he was ready to systematically dismantle his foes. The night fell silent as Wenwu and his men vanished into the shadows, the reverberations of the blast serving as a stark warning of the destiny awaiting those who defied Wenwu.
