Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 92: Kindred Spirits

Holy weaver

After being struck, master Seth back then, Enzo had gathered information on the weaver rankings all the way from star weaver to what he presumed master White as…

They were star weaver, exalted weaver, sanctified weaver and then holy weaver. The last being the rank equivalent of a tyrant.

To think that the Dual Moon Institute had a tyrant in its ranks was terrifying. But upon really looking into it, Enzo was able to figure out why.

The Dual Moon Institute was one of the most powerful organisations on planet Earth, although settled at the solid number 4 in the top 10, it was still considered a monster of a force.

Having a tyrant in their ranks didn't seem so out of place anymore, but it also pointed to one more thing.

Humanity as a whole was strong.

"Hey, watch it, if you can't drive give it to someone who can!" Inside a crawler, a large mechanical monster the likeness of a spider, one of the students from the institute complained viciously, swinging her hand.

Teams of seven were placed in each crawler, paired together to help foster better organisation and movement.

However, some of them here were new and hadn't operated a crawler in their life. Sadly, that was a majority of them.

"Fucking shithead, if you can control it then be my fucking guest, but don't blame me if you throw us head into the ground."

The two of these individuals exchanging curses were from House Snowfall. They were also twins, so it was understandable the hostility.

"Second years and being dramatic," one other commented with a laugh, a tall slender man with hair that touched his lower back.

"You…" hearing his words, the twin pointed at him with vexation. He was the only one that had worked with master Seth before but vehemently refused to drive the crawler, leaving them to learn on the spot.

He was such a bad team player.

"Me what? You want to fight?" With an insane expression, the tall 3rd year looked at the twins.

He was called Savage Wolf, mainly because of his look, but also because of the kind of person he was. He loved to cause trouble and was uncaring for anyone other than himself, fighting against anything that could fight back.

He was also the only exalted weaver on their team.

"Shithead." Cursing, the twin in front of the wheel looked back to the forest of massive trees.

He couldn't let himself be distracted.

Soon they came to a slow stop before a large open field surrounded by rocks and trees and stopped at the command of the main crawler.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have successfully entered monster territory. To your left there are creatures that can eat you, and to your right there are ones that will stomp you to death. Always be alert and remember you signed a death clause."

From the communications system inside the crawlers, an unrecognisable voice resounded, mechanical in sound but at a serious glance seemingly from master Seth.

"That old man is hilarious."

Beside Enzo, Zeke commented with a laugh. All the other instructors were always so formal, but the old man was very sporadic, moving from calm to entertaining.

The moment he said these words, everyone in the crawler looked back at him with a look of surprise.

What a strange thing to say… Seth and hilarious was not a good combination.

"From henceforth, you will be referred to with your codenames and not your real names. This also applies to your crawler. The red crawler is Alpha, the blue is Beta, and the orange is Omega. When I give you an objective, you are to complete it at all costs. Your first objectives are being uploaded on your systems right now. We will rendezvous back here at midnight. Also…"

As the old man continued relaying information to them, Enzo and the rest quickly connected to the crawler systems and saw their first target.

"Hunt down a hammerhead centipede, extract its spinal fluid and store it.

Information on the hammerhead centipede down below…

[Hammerhead Centipede]

[Rank: Great Terror]

[Tier: Noble]

[Description: The hammerhead centipede is a chitinous creature with shells as hard as tempered steel. They originate from cretin family of evolution, as such are good diggers with a tinge of painful poison….]"

"A Great Terror…" Enzo muttered under his breath. Maybe when he still had the skeleton bio-armor and White Radiance could he even think of killing such a thing.

But now? Hard. Incredibly hard.

"You're the best of the best this year and I picked you because of that. Work with each other, there's no one ordinary amongst you so do not disappoint me or yourself…"

After saying what he needed to say, master Seth's crawler, which was very different from theirs, fitted with all sorts of weapons, came to a halt in the middle of the field and dropped to the ground, forming an open shelter.

"You signed up for it, there's no need to be down now. Let's just do what we can," the third member of Snowfall in Beta crawler spoke up, seeing the dazed expression on everyone's face.

They were already here. Great Terror or not, it was what they signed up for. Plus, they were all good fighters.

"Speak for yourself pretty face, some of us were forced to be here." Suddenly Savage Wolf burst out in laughter, looking at the twins who were sweating bullets.

It was a simple thing for the second and third years to easily brush off the word Great Terror. But most of the first years were still star weavers at stage one. They had been in the institute for at most two months; this was moving too fast.

After some time, they continued on their journey through the forests of Defi, searching for their mission objective.

"Hey? You're the guy, right? Malvaran, the leader of the House of Darkness?" The leader of the Snowfall members on the Beta crawler, a direct family member named John, walked up to Enzo and the rest.

"Yes," Enzo nodded.

It made sense that they knew he was from House Snowfall, after all virtually all of the picks on this mission from the first years came from the three main clubs on the list as of now.

Enzo's House of Darkness was number one, the House of Snowfall was number two, and Ice Lake Club.

Enzo didn't seem chummy with Savage Wilder, and he clearly wasn't from Snowfall. So that had to be the case.

"Nice, killing an exalted had to have been fun," the young man named John spoke, trying to get close to Enzo and his friends.

Truth was, they had all been briefed on the great star talent. The stance on the club was if you can't stand him… avoid him.

But he didn't believe Enzo was that bad.

"Fun… that's one way to put it." Enzo muttered with a smile.

"Hey, Enzo, why do you keep watering it down? We killed two exalted that day, don't be so modest." Zeke suddenly sat next to Enzo and wrapped his hand around his shoulders.

"Two?" John raised his eyebrow, confused, but then seeing Enzo shake his head, he could only smile.

It seemed like Zeke was the joker of the team.

Killing one exalted weaver was already a major achievement, one that was typically unattainable at their rank and experience. Even with backup it was very hard.

"Yes, two, both from Weavetech." Zeke doubled down, making the silence echo in the room.

"Hmm, that's hard to believe…" Savage Wolf commented, then looked at Enzo with a smile from the side of the hall.

Zeke's words were bordering around insulting to exalted ranks. After all, to get to their position was not as easy as it seemed. All of them had to go through the hell of a second voyage… to be killed by a star weaver was not something to joke about.

"It is." Enzo commented then nodded.

These guys were probing to see if he was truly capable.

"You know, I've killed someone from Weavetech once. Very thrilling. Want to see my battle scars?" Seeing that Enzo did not budge, the 3rd year stood up and walked over, rolling up his sleeve while he did so.

Visibly, his time was moving at 1.2x its normal speed. This was what he meant by battle scars. There were a variety of methods to fight against the curse of killing Weavetech talents.

Most very expensive, however Grand Regent Inkous was the best at it. His power could easily nullify it, but some people—

Especially those who truly hated Weavetech—would often choose to keep the effect and remove the tracking. That was what Savage Wilder had done.

"Ohh, we have something similar." Enzo smirked and pulled up his sleeve the same time as Zeke, both of them smeared in ink, a clear sign of the influence of master Inkous.

At this time everywhere seemed to halt, as Savage Wolf, instead of frowning, suddenly smiled.

He had ended up on the same team with kindred spirits.

People who hated Weavetech as much as he did.
