Chapter 88: Paint the Canvas of the future
Enzo accepted the letter of commission without a second thought, making master Seth happy. To kill corrupted creatures was a joy to any star weaver.
They could give echos, improve strength, and give experience. These were invaluable to any weaver. He had completed his project in a short period of time; being idle after the fact was not helpful at all.
But first, he had to go home.
It had been two months since he saw his little brothers and mother. He didn't even have the chance to console them before leaving back then, so when he got back to his dormitory Enzo decided to prepare to leave.
However, the moment he entered his room he was met with two additional hostile faces.
"Mex, what's going on?" Enzo asked, looking at the four Snowfall members in his room and questioning with a furrowed brow.
Lucia was here, and so were two others he didn't quite recognize.
"They want to speak to you," Max responded with a casual nod.
He never really had a problem with Enzo; they were roommates and typically kept to themselves. It would be strange for him to hold a grudge.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the same with House Snowfall as a whole.
"Oh?" Enzo frowned.
Aside from Max and Lucia, the other two were second years. One was a second-stage star weaver and the second at the third stage, one push away from exalted.
"We are here to apologize for the inconveniences we might have caused you in the past. It is an unnecessary grudge that we wish to rectify," Lucia spoke in plural, seemingly standing for the whole of House Snowfall.
Especially the first years.
"Ohh, that's fine." Enzo smirked. Clearly this was the doing of Titus, the leader of House Snowfall across all years.
He had made them pay him back 350 years of time but at the time didn't make them apologize. However, seeing what they did on Yari must have changed his mind.
"Okay, looking forward to a fruitful cooperation next week." Lucia spoke as if throwing shade, but she was quickly tapped on her shoulder, telling her to stop.
The girl was clearly someone that couldn't let go of a grudge easily.
"Yes, we will see next week," Enzo nodded, affirming that he understood what she meant. It seemed like Lucia too had been invited on commission.
After they left, Enzo sighed and sat down on his bed, taking a breath of air.

Enzo looked at his stats window and mused.
His new ability from taking the brunt of two time curses was, to say the least, broken. It was a sort of watered-down version of what Kegan could do from each strike.
If used properly, Enzo could in the near future become astonishingly rich from it. It of course demanded that he kill an ungodly number of people or creatures.
"Hmm, I don't know that yet," Enzo shook his head.
He didn't know if the ability would apply to creatures; after all, they didn't have timestamps.
"Either way, I should be able to afford something off-planet by the end of the program," Enzo said in a low voice.
The mission was a massive haul. First was this new ability, then the contribution points. Zeke had even promised to share a portion of the Sky's rewards for Vegar and master Jos's head.
This alone was a lot.
But most of all was the amount of star essence he had in the Void Coffin. Sooner or later he would sell them and make some real money.
He would have to cut the team in, of course.
"Hmm, one step at a time," Enzo nodded, then grabbed his bag of clothes and exited the building.
Outside, Raven was waiting for him as he moved through the gates with master White's motorcycle in hand.
"Are you ready?" Enzo asked with a smile as the two of them headed away from the institute and towards the house.
As this was happening, somewhere in the main building of the institute a bulky tall man with muscles watched with a smile.
"Listen friend, I really don't know what you're talking about. No one in my institute would purposefully kill a member of Weavetech. It's just not what we do," the man spoke in a tempered tone, not caring in the slightest how pissed off the other party looked.
On Earth, no one really respected Weavetech aside from small powers and people. The truth was, they were only lorded in the stars.
But after what they did to Earth? Not a single person had good feelings when it came to them. As such, when they went hunting for offenders, they often came back with no results.
"Brother Inkous, I implore you to reconsider and let us check," gritting his teeth, the man from Weavetech spoke.
Amongst the myriad of people that really got on his nerves, this man was the worst. Demi-god in rank but hoodlum in attitude and poise.
Inkous was known to give his help to anyone that killed a person from Weavetech. It was like a scoreboard for him, and he always denied this even though it was an open secret.
"There's nothing to reconsider. Unless you want me to sacrifice my only begotten child to your clock in the sky, then please let's not continue this conversation." Regent Inkous waved his hand dismissively and walked towards an empty canvas.
"It's so rare to have off-worlders in my office. Why don't you let me paint you an ink canvas?" The Regent smiled, pulling out a brush from nowhere.
"Paint? No thank you. We will be having our leave now." The moment they heard those words, the envoy shuddered and stood up.
Inkous was more of a problematic figure than he looked like. Especially those paintings of his; they'd rather not die of natural causes after leaving the planet.
"Too late!!" The Regent laughed loudly, turning his canvas the other way round and revealing a disturbing image of the man in front of him.
It sent shivers down the spine.
