Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 87: House of Darkness

Outside the main administration building, four individuals walked side by side through the snow, slowly approaching the administration block.

In their hands were two metallic boxes dripping with a red nearly Congiled liquid that dripped with a hotness exuding from it as it parted the ground.

To the corner of the block, a small restaurant could be seen, visible with lights and a heating system installed in all four corners.

Ice River Drinks and Nutrition

This was a student-owned business, right in the middle of the institute. Prestigious and influential, in fact, only members of the top 20 clubs were allowed into its premises.

"It's just the second month and most of the top 10 have already finished their projects… the monsters here are just too much."

"I heard that the Grand Regent personally came out of his office to see when Snowfall bought the fourth destroyer. We can't even compete anymore."

"Hey, did you hear that Lucia entered Stage 2?"

"Yeah, after receiving a beating."

"Shhh, don't say it so loudly."

A myriad of gossip filled the restaurant as everyone gossiped about a myriad of topics, each having their own weights.

The session looked like it was very eventful, but also very quick. With the amount of completions, you'd think there was something going on that people didn't realise.

"Hey, there's a change in the board, take a look," suddenly someone pointed at the project board in the distance where the destroyer mission beamed.

Suddenly, the count number for the number of destroyer ships went up by one digit, reading a total of 5.

In under two months, House Snowfall had brought and bought 5 titan-class destroyers, finishing the project five times over.

It was evident that everyone in the first year who had joined Snowfall this year would graduate with almost perfect marks.

"Hehe, we can't compete," someone sighed.

House Snowfall was literally putting everyone to shame.

In the next moment, however, a change occurred that caused a few people to frown.

Suddenly, the titan-class destroyer mission seemed to fall from the top of the project list and settled in second place.

Its position was replaced by a mission that read

[Assassinate the Leader of the Thieves Guild in Astoria]

For a second, everyone looked confused, their minds racing, remembering the details of that project.

A week or two ago, there was a new article mocking the people who had chosen the mission because of its impossibility. Now it was complete? What was the name of that club again?

House of Darkness?

"Hey everyone, check Intergalactic News 54, there was a massive raid on an illegal star essence mine in Astoria and someone presented a Dual Moon Institute badge," one person shouted from the crowd, shock filled.

"They are saying Weavetech is involved."

"Oh my God, they killed an exalted weaver!!"

The crowd went into a sudden frenzy as information poured out in a rush.

Meanwhile,

"Come in."

Outside an office in the underground complex of the institute, a firm voice resounded from behind a door, beckoning those outside to come inside.

Click

The door opened and three figures walked into the office and stood at attention.

At first glance of the office space, one would first comment on its texture, the way the room felt like a plain space devoid of character and color.

This was unlike the Grand Regent's office, as it seemed to be less in use and did not fit the grandeur of one ranked at Tyrant (Holy).

"This was you?"

Suddenly, the man behind the table smiled in approval as he tossed a disc to the front. A new headline shone on it.

[Yari Used as a Front for Illegal Star Essence Mining, Countless Suspects Apprehended, Two Exalted Masters Killed, Suspected Weavetech Involvement]

The news in this day and age was as fast as the wind, the phrase the walls have ears could even be literal in some ways.

"Yes, House of Darkness took this mission, Master Seth," Enzo glanced at the news and nodded.

Naturally, the instructors would know, after all. It had turned out to be a much bigger mission than even he thought.

"Good!! Giving the final years a run for their money… you even killed an exalted," Master Seth praised.

The boy listened in class, understood what was being taught, and applied it. But the moment that young man took the full brunt of his attack in class… he knew that he was a tempered steel.

What Enzo had done was beyond ordinary. Even with the help of one exalted and several star weavers, it was quite a feat to attack two exalted and kill both. This was the efficiency of a vicious killer.

"Thank you, Master," Enzo bowed, still a bit confused as to why he was here.

Praise was one thing, but the old man seemed to have been waiting for him even before the news spread.

"Hehe, here. I need you and two people from House of Darkness to accompany me on an expedition. It'll help boost your grade some more, improving the contribution points you get at the end of the session," Master Seth nodded once more in approval before handing Enzo a letter of commission.

"Ahh." Enzo read the letter with squinted brows but couldn't help but nod.

Letters of commission couldn't be refused without reason. They added to one's overall grade and improved one's standing in the profession of weaver (job experience).

Most people couldn't even get one after three years in the institute. It was a clear sign that the institute saw you as capable of handling its important matters.

'I wonder if I may ask what the mission objective is…'

Enzo thought in his head with a bitter smile, watching the line of text that read redacted.

"It's a search and capture mission. We will be hunting corrupted creatures. I know you have some experience," as if knowing exactly what was going through Enzo's mind, Master Seth clarified straightforwardly.

It was a monster-hunting expedition!!
