Chapter 10: Ins And Outs Of Keter's Flaw
--Two Weeks Later--
Keter drops onto his bed with an exasperated sigh. 'Why is it so hard to talk to people.' Keter rolls to the other side of his bed. "Aurora, why won't you be friends with me?" Keter wines to nobody in particular. 'Well, now that I think about it, most of my friendships have started because of other people.' Keter thinks about his elementary school years sitting on a bench during recess because he had no friends. 'Maybe I should just stop bothering her?' Keter considerders. 'Well, it's not like she ever responded badly to my attempts." Keter tries to consider what he is doing wrong.
'It might just be because we don't have much in common. It's hard to be friends with someone with whom you can't really talk about your interests.' Keter sighs and says, "It's probably best to just to be friendly. Being on good terms with her would be nice if we ever need to work together." Keter gets up and says. "I will just focus on getting ready for the dream world."
Keter looks at the clock on the wall. 'It seems it's time for my training with Morgan.' Keter gets up and gets ready, and on his way there, he thinks. 'At least I learned the ins and outs of my flaws during the past two weeks. Anybody who ranks above me has no emotional blocker. If they are the same rank as me, the closer they are to my Aspect rank, the less the emotional blocker, and I'm guessing that I won't be able to feel anything for those a rank below me.' Keter walks into the training room and says. "let's hope she doesn't break any of my bones today."
"Don't get too hopeful, pretty boy." Keter sees Morgan in front of him with a sadistic smile.
"You're enjoying this far too much." Keter conplains.
"Like you wouldn't believe." Morgan's smile turns to a grin. "Pick up your sword, pretty boy. You've gotten a lot better, but you still have a way to go."
"Yes Ma'am" Keter mocks.
"I'm going to break an extra bone just for that," Morgan says as she rushes him, making her sword shatter his arm. "It's not like you can't heal it anyway, " she mocks.
"You're the damn devil." Keter groans as he uses Miracle to put his arm back together as he jumps back.
"And you know what's the best part?" Morgan says as she runs after him. "It's that you're paying me for it!"
--Two and A Half Months Later--
'Four weeks left' Keter muses to himself as a smile then spreads across his face. 'They're here. Nephis, Cassie, and Sunny. I can't wait to meet them.' Keter walls to the main hall and sits on the steps to the stage waiting till the initiation.
'There's Nephis' Keter sees her walk into the room with headphones over her ears. 'There's Cassie.' Keter sees the blind girl sitting alone. 'Where is Sunny?' Keter looks around confused seeing no sign of him even as the initiation starts.
--------
'He sure has a lot to say.' Keter sighs as the instructor continues speaking. Keter then notices someone staring at him and stares back hiding his shock about who it is. 'Nephis? what are you doing?' Keter feels uncomfortable as Nephis stares a hole into his head until she is taken for evaluation.
'What the hell was that.' Keter shivers as he takes the opportunity to leave for his room. 'Why was she staring so hard? Did she feel something? Is it because of our classes? Nephilim are at least partly holy creatures. Lightbringer and a Holy Emperor.' Keter wonders as he roams the halls and eventually, he feels a tap on his shoulder and looks back to see Nephis.
"Can we talk?" Nephis asks with a black look on her face.
