Chapter 140: Preparation For Future, Creating A New Relic, Gaining A New Class
Mc's POV
I was resting in my room.
The quiet felt nice, though I knew the Exorcist Union must be in complete chaos right now.
They had every reason to be.
What I did yesterday would've shaken them up badly.
Still, I had no time to care about that.
I had things to do.
First, I drew more runes around the room.
Each stroke was steady, precise, and filled with faint traces of mana.
These runes hid the presence of Positive Energy and Cursed Items.
After that, I drew another set of runes, ones that hid the first.
Layers upon layers. That was how I liked it.
My injuries were already healed thanks to Yuna, but I was still tired.
The exhaustion didn't come from my wounds.
It came from my heart, an aftereffect of Heart Burst Poison.
I pressed a hand against my chest and counted the beats.
"I guess I should make a Heartmend Potion."
I went to the center of the room and cleared the space.
Then, I sprinkled Fairy Dust on the floor and drew a large alchemy circle with smooth lines.
The faint golden particles shimmered as I worked.
When the circle was ready, I placed the ingredients inside it: Ashen Root, Sunvine Petal, and Crystallized Spirit Dew.
Each material glowed differently when Yuna enchanted them.
"Catalyst," I said.
She handed me a small crystal filled with raw energy.
I placed it in the center of the circle.
Then I began chanting.
"Aru nox talren... Vesi mar eth... Dain saen torin... Velka es ruhn."
The air vibrated.
Light gathered at the center, forming a small liquid sphere that hovered above the runes.
Its color shifted between silver and blue, like mist trapped in water.
I raised my hand and used telekinesis to pull the potion toward me.
It floated gently until I came before my mouth.
Without hesitation, I drank it.
The taste was bitter, but the warmth spread through my chest almost instantly.
The pain in my heart dulled, replaced by a soft, steady rhythm.
Back in Area 51, the Heart Burst Poison had saved my life.
But its aftereffects had nearly destroyed my heart.
Even now, it was weak.
I needed to drink this potion every few days for a year.
Only then would it recover completely.
After finishing, I exhaled slowly and sat on the bed. "Better."
Then I pulled out the cloth that had been blessed by the God.
It was folded neatly, glowing faintly with soft white light.
I held it up, turning it over in my hands.
"Too much Positive Energy. I'll have to extract a lot."
Yuna floated closer, her translucent form flickering with curiosity. "Why did you ask him to bless the cloth, Lord of Shadows?"
"I want to make clothes for Dante," I said simply. "Yuna, use Identify on this cloth."
She nodded, raising her hand as faint light covered the fabric.
A screen appeared before me, showing the result.
…
Cloth
Size: Large enough to cover the full body of a giant
Rank: 1
Description: Blessed by God Thalwen
Effect: Hides the body
…
I smirked. "As expected."
The God probably thought he was mocking me.
To him, this effect must have looked useless.
He always liked doing that: pretending to give a gift while laughing behind my back.
But he didn't know I wanted exactly this.
"A cloth that hides the body. Perfect," I murmured.
Yuna tilted her head. "You wanted this effect?"
"Yes. Dante's body changes depending on who's looking at him. If he wears this cloth, it'll hide his real form. People will only see what I design for him. But when he removes it, his body will revert to his true eldritch form."
Understanding dawned on Yuna's face.
"So he can move in public while wearing these clothes. Then, when combat starts, he just removes them. That's… clever."
I smiled faintly. "Exactly."
With that, I stood up and began working again.
I spread more Fairy Dust on the floor and started drawing complex rune arrays.
The process was long and tiring.
Each rune had to be linked perfectly.
Three hours later, sweat dripped from my forehead.
I leaned back and wiped it off.
Yuna looked at the floor, impressed.
"This is… a Positive Energy Extraction Array, a Positive Energy Transfer Array, and a Positive Energy Fusion Array," she said.
Then her eyes moved to another corner. "And a basic metallurgy array too."
"Yeah," I replied.
I reached into my inventory and took out a sniper rifle.
The weapon gleamed faintly, still in perfect condition.
This thing was a 'gift' from a mercenary. She was a guard of my uncle, both of whom were killed by me.
I ran my hand along the barrel.
It was reliable, and steady.
But it was not what I needed now.
I placed it on the metallurgy array, along with several materials from my stash: Mythril Steel, Moon Silver, Darkiron Fragments, and a small block of Refined Spirit Metal.
Each of these materials came from Dusk Hand Clan.
They had generously let me borrow the materials.
I began.
Energy surged through the room as the array activated.
The metals melted, merging with the rifle.
I whispered several short incantations, stabilizing the process.
The air filled with heat and faint traces of ozone.
When the light faded, the sniper rifle was gone.
In its place lay a sleek, dark Desert Eagle, heavy and menacing.
Next to it were several rows of silver bullets, each engraved with small runes.
I picked up the gun and tested the weight.
"It's heavy, but nothing I can't manage with my stats."
The recoil would be strong, but my physical stats were high enough to handle it.
And this one packed real power.
I had liked the sniper rifle, but where I was going next, this desert eagle would be a lot more useful.
Yuna floated beside me. "Is this for your new identity, Lord of Shadows?"
"Yeah. Caelum's going to be a mechanic. So this is the perfect weapon for him."
I sat down again and started inscribing runes across the Desert Eagle's surface.
Each one pulsed briefly before sinking into the metal.
Sight Enhancement Rune: It would improve accuracy even in low light.
Next, I etched another pattern along the grip. Stabilization Rune: Reduces recoil and keeps the aim steady."
Then one near the muzzle. Penetration Rune: To make sure the bullets go through stronger barriers.
Yuna hovered behind me, observing carefully. "That's a lot of precision work."
"It has to be. Every rune has a purpose."
I added a few more: Range Amplification, Auto-Aim Assistance, Mana Compression, Silent Shot, and Reload Efficiency.
Each rune added another layer of strength.
When I finished, I leaned back and looked at my work.
The Desert Eagle gleamed faintly, the runes hidden beneath its matte black surface.
"Yuna," I said. "Use Identify."
She raised her hand, and the light from her fingertips brushed against the gun. A screen appeared again.
...
Desert Eagle [Enchanced]
Rank 1
Description: Crafted using Mythril Steel, Moon Silver, and Spirit Metal through advanced rune metallurgy.
...
"Looks good," Yuna said.
I smiled faintly. "Better than good."
Holding the gun in my hand felt right.
It was balanced, strong, and deadly.
I picked up the bullets one by one, feeling their cold weight in my hand.
All of them were made of silver.
The reason?
Precaution against vampires.
There was almost no chance — of what I was thinking — of happening, but "almost" wasn't the same as zero.
I wasn't going to take chances anymore.
I placed all the silver bullets carefully on the combined rune arrays: the Positive Energy Extraction array, Positive Energy Transfer and the Positive Energy Fusion arrays I had drawn earlier.
The faint white runes on the floor shimmered as I adjusted the positioning of the bullets.
Then, I started the alchemy process.
The arrays lit up.
Threads of energy floated from the glowing blessed cloth and seeped into the bullets.
It looked like fog being absorbed by light.
The faint golden energy condensed into the bullets slowly, bit by bit.
By the time the process ended, my forehead was drenched in sweat.
I wiped it with the back of my sleeve and exhaled.
The bullets were glowing faintly white now.
Each one had a thin halo of light swirling around it, proof that Positive Energy had successfully fused inside.
I picked one up and rolled it between my fingers.
It was heavier than before, and stronger.
"Good enough," I muttered.
I packed several bullets into the Desert Eagle and stored the rest inside my Inventory rune.
The weapon shimmered faintly before vanishing into thin air.
Once I was done, I sat down and stretched my shoulders.
The room was quiet except for the faint hum of the rune arrays disappearing.
Then I began making tools for the next task.
Using alchemy, I created a few needles and other small instruments needed for stitching.
The metal formed in the air, reshaping itself under the effect of runes before landing on the table neatly.
Times like these reminded me why I liked alchemy so much.
Don't like your neighbor? Use alchemy to poison his morning tea.
Don't like the class topper? Turn his water bottle into a laxative.
Don't like your enemy? Make a bat and beat him with it.
It was my motto: If you can't solve your problem with alchemy, then you don't understand alchemy well enough.
With the tools ready, I stood up.
"Alright, time to work on Dante."
I opened the Inventory rune again.
Dark mist flowed out slowly, followed by a tall, shadowy figure.
Dante appeared, standing still as his body solidified into a humanoid shape.
His form was black and distorted, with a skull-like head and a long snout that looked both human and beastly at the same time.
Even when he didn't move, his presence felt heavy, like something ancient was watching from behind those hollow eyes.
He stood upright, his head almost brushing the ceiling even though the room was quite tall.
The faint light from the rune circles reflected on his dark body, giving him a strange, ghostly glow.
"Stand to the side," I said.
He obeyed silently, taking a few steps back.
His movements were slow and careful, like he didn't want to break anything.
I grabbed a roll of measuring thread from my table and began taking his measurements.
His arms were long, his torso broad, and his limbs slightly uneven in proportion.
He didn't speak or move while I worked, which made things easier.
I jotted down his measurements using mana marks on the floor, then turned to the cloth I had blessed by the God.
"Let's begin."
The cloth unfolded with a soft shimmer.
It was massive — enough to cover a giant — and its surface glowed faintly white.
I cut the cloth into large sections using alchemy to sharpen the blade edge.
Then, I started stitching.
The needles moved quickly between my fingers, guided by runes.
Each movement left faint silver lines of mana that sealed the fabric seamlessly.
The work wasn't easy.
The cloth resisted slightly at first because of the Positive Energy inside, but once it adapted to my mana, it began responding smoothly.
It took three whole nights to finish.
When I finally stepped back and looked at what I had made, I nodded in satisfaction.
The clothes resembled ceremonial garments worn by old priests in Japan.
They were long robes with flowing sleeves, neat layers, and clean lines.
The headgear was a simple cloth veil that fell over the face and hung down to the shoulders.
The rest of the body was wrapped in bandages made from the same blessed cloth.
The bandages weren't just decoration. They served as a barrier and helped Dante keep his body's form stable when in public.
"Try it on," I said.
Dante moved forward and began wearing the outfit.
The fabric shifted slightly, fitting perfectly on his strange body shape.
The bandages wrapped around him automatically, sealing in layers of light and shadow.
When he was fully dressed, I stepped back again.
The difference was striking.
The cursed, monstrous aura that usually leaked from Dante had vanished completely.
His silhouette looked almost human now.
He was tall, still eerie, but calm.
The divine cloth masked everything that made him terrifying.
Perfect.
Yuna appeared near the corner, her ghostly light flickering faintly.
"It suits him," she praised.
"Yeah," I replied. "And now we make it better."
I took out Fairy Dust from my Inventory Rune and began engraving new symbols on the clothes.
First was the Condensed Mimic Seal Rune, allowing the outfit to be made portable.
It would transform into a simple bracelet when mana with specific pattern was put into it.
And it could do vice versa too.
I had used this on my Disguise Skin.
Next came the Mana Storage Rune, which would store my mana, and be used by Dante to activate the Condensed Mimic Seal Rune.
Finally, I added a Click Function Rune near the wrist area.
This rune would let Dante activate Mana Store rune with a simple click, and store the entire outfit into a portable form — a small bracelet — and re-summon it by simply tapping and activating the mana storage rune.
When I was done, faint lines of light flowed through the fabric, connecting every rune smoothly.
I stood up and exhaled.
"Alright. Try activating it."
Dante raised his right hand slowly and tapped the rune on his wrist.
The entire outfit dissolved into motes of light and wrapped around his arm, condensing into a sleek, dark bracelet.
Then, he tapped it again.
The light burst out, and the clothes reformed over his body instantly, fitting perfectly.
"That's impressive," Yuna nodded proudly as if she was the one who made it.
I gave a simple nod as response.
Dante shifted slightly, his hands twitching.
The outfit seemed to feel strange to him, like a foreign skin.
His body squirmed for a few seconds as he tried to adjust.
"I know it's unformattable because it's made from Positive Energy.
"Just hold on for some time. I will get Cursed Items to make better clothes for you as soon as I can," I said.
He tilted his head but didn't respond.
Then, a faint ringing sound echoed in my head.
A system notification appeared in front of my eyes.
New Class Acquired.
