Shackles Of Reality

Chapter 40: Obsidian Order 5

Aurora took a glance at the surroundings, buildings were razed to the grounds by the stray wind attacks, and If not for Aurora the place would have been even more devastated.

Meanwhile at the center of the city.....

Mid air two men were duking it out, they were the captain of the city guards and Charles, the one spearheading the attack on the city. They continued fighting in a malesteom of attacks, fighting with grace showing their vast experience.

The captain with the ability to create vaccum pockets which implode and shred whatever comes in the slightest contact with them and throwing them at his opponents who's barrier ability was suprisingly resilient with not even the faintest of cracks on the barrier, it was clear who was at a disadvantage.

The captains attacks were not really doing any damage, even at close combat, Charles merely employs his barrier the moment the Captain's spear is about to come in contact with him.

"Hahahaha it's futile, your attacks can't ever reach me with my barriers active" Charles laughed. The barrier was his bloodline ability, when on it's other side nothing can ever reach him and even his authority was based on it.

The captain seeing his attacks doing nothing thought 'it seems I'll have to go all out'. "Authority; vaccum sphere, the air around his palms seemed to collapse on itself forming two sphere that thrummed with power considering he pumped them with a lot of bloodline energy.

Charles seeing the spheres began to have a bad feeling but before he could think on it, the spheres were already in front of his barrier, the moment they hit the barrier, the barrier shattered like glass like it was being shredded.

Charles flew back but he still wasn't out of the range of destruction. The surroundings following the attack were hit by immense gales shredding everything in their path to about half a kilometer.

Once the remnant of the attack cleared up, the captain fixed his eyes on the direction Charles' corpse was supposed to be, but he did not like what he saw. "How are you still alive you should have died from that attack" exclaimed the captain. "It would take a lot more than that to kill me" said Charles whose body was now shielded by a glowing red barrier.

"This glowing red barrier you're seeing is my authority, while others will want a flashy and fancy authority that isn't actually effective, mine is a simple but effective one, it's called; sacrificial barrier. It allows me an absolute defence so to say I sacrifice a certain aspect of it" he continued.

"For example I used the stray winds generated by your attacks as the sacrificial price making them the only thing that will pass my barrier in exchange for stopping everything else" he said concluding his explanation.

"Though I underestimated you, even the stray winds managed to rough me up a little" he said raising the hands of his robes which were now tattered.

"Hmph, I'll just have to see if you can keep withstanding the stray winds" said the captain as two more spheres began to form above his hands before they shot towards Charles. An attack of the same magnitude as the last one perhaps even higher bringing more destruction to their surroundings.

After the residue cleared up Charles was still standing, the only difference being his robes were more shredded and tattered. "Hahaha, I told you it's useless it'll never work" shouted Charles.

"I can't harm you and your bloodline ability also cannot injure me, we either continue until the city lord comes back and kills you or you run away before he comes, which means my only job now is to stall you until he arrives" said the captain.

Hearing what he said, Charles' face adopted a frown, he started thinking this attack was merely a probe by the Obsidian Order, so if he does here it won't even be worth it.

"So this is where all that commotion was coming from" said a pure haired girl who appeared out of nowhere floating in the sky.

"Lady Aurora, you shouldn't be here, please leave it's very dangerous" said the captain recognizing her. "You seem to know me" she said in her apathetic tone. "Ah yes who wouldn't" he said with a hint of admiration before suddenly remembering there was an enemy. "Please lady Aurora you have to leave" he said.

"And you think I'd let her leave just like that?" Said Charles who has been listening to them. One of Obsidian Order's objecives was to get rid is Aurora De Silva before she grows up to become a threat, just that they've never had any chance.

Anyone who kills her would be upgraded to a second level member this attaining a large number of resources, like hell he'll let her escape.

"Oh you're gonna stop me?" She said, her voice taking a mild amusement tone instead of the usual apathetic tone. "You'll be my ticket to upgrade my level I'm the organization" he declared while lunging at her.

When there was just two meters separating them she disappeared and appeared twenty meters behind him. F*ck how could I forget she's a Silva, their bloodlines are space related, but still it isn't going to stop me.

Soon they were both playing a game of cat and mouse, she teleporting when he reaches her and he lunging after her. "You're so weak and you were talking about keeping me here?" she questioned. He didn't answer but she said "no matter, you'll die now, 'Authority; time variation' she said.

'What authority, does that mean she's already at platinum rank?' both Charles and the captain thought simultaneously.

With her words his entire being seemingly slowed down to a crawl. This was one of the authorities she attained when she broke through to platinum. She can make the time acting on a person or matter to slow down to one hundredth of its actual frequency. So right now Charles' movement speed and perception right now were at one hundredth of his normal.

"Even In your next life, you won't be able to capture me for one sole reason, that is your weakness" she said as she flew closer to him and beheaded him. He wouldn't even realized he's been beheaded unless she releases him from her authority.
