Saquin: Death To My Enemies

Chapter 29: Silver streak

Lira stood alone, her gaze lingering on Relia's retreating figure as she followed after Saquin. Once they disappeared from sight, Lira moved to a nearby boulder and perched herself on its edge. She couldn't stop the flood of memories from the past few hours—each one as vivid as if it had just happened.

I'm part Primal now... and part Higher too. Two unique powers. A level-seven powerhouse—at the Primal level, no less. A soft and genuine smile tugged at her lips as she reflected. Second-in-command of Brimar, for real this time. I killed those lecherous wolves next door, met Highers, and even deflected an attack from the Southern Kingdom's Crown Prince. Her heart swelled at the thought. The Southern Kingdom Crown Prince!

She leaned back slightly, placing her hands behind her on the boulder for support, her eyes drifting upward to the endless sky.

Since I accepted his blood, everything has changed—my strength, my instincts... even my demeanor. Perhaps it's because I no longer need to shield my true personality. I finally have the power to protect myself, to shape the balance of so many lives. Power... Her lips twitched at the irony of her musing. It truly changes everything.

Lira stayed like that, letting the quiet serenity of the moment envelop her, just her and her thoughts under the Brimar sky. A lone, striking figure, she sat atop the boulder, the breeze tugging lightly at her hair. Her smile, radiant and unguarded, softened her already enchanting features. Had Edward been there to witness her in this quiet moment, he might have fallen to his knees and proposed right there, utterly captivated by her beauty.

A golden blur caught her attention. She looked up to see the magnificent figure of the princess's golden dragon soaring through the sky. The creature slowed, its wings beating rhythmically as it hovered midair, a short distance away.

Seated atop the dragon's shimmering form was Relia, her radiant figure leaning slightly forward as she peered down at Lira with a warm smile.

"Hi! My name is Relia. What's yours?" Her voice, carried by the wind, was clear and friendly.

Lira blinked, caught off guard by the casual tone from someone so regal. "Erm... Lira," she finally managed.

"Lira," Relia repeated, as if tasting the name. "What a lovely name! Do you mind being friends?"

Friends? The question seemed almost surreal, but Relia's sincerity was unmistakable.

"Sure!" Lira replied, her voice tinged with nervous excitement.

"That's wonderful!" Relia beamed, her smile as bright as the dragon beneath her. "Lira, I have to go now, but we'll meet again soon, okay? Till then, girlfriend!" She gave a playful wave as the dragon began to ascend, its powerful wings propelling it forward.

Lira sat frozen for a moment, watching the golden figure fade into the horizon. "Bye, Princess," she murmured, the words escaping almost on their own.

Her heart swelled with an unfamiliar warmth. A friend. My first real friend... and she's a princess. Not just any princess either. She was the golden princess—the Queen Of Hunt. Legendary Princess Relia herself.

Lira stood motionless for a moment, her thoughts spiraling back to everything that had happened since she met Saquin. Piece by piece, the puzzle of her fortune fit into place. Power, purpose, loyalty—it all stemmed from him. As the realization solidified, so did her resolve.

I am never leaving his side.

Minutes later.

Lira. Saquin voice resounded in her head.

"Yes?" She sprang up to her feet as she heard his call.

Does Dread have any relatives? He asked.

"Hmm… yes. He was a prince of the Earth Dragon race, the son of the Beast King in the Central Kingdom, and the nephew of the Balogun here in the Eastern Kingdom." She answered, as she recalled the few information she knew about Dread.

The Balogun doesn't happen to be a Level 8 dragon, does he? His reply came as a question.

Her heart skipped a beat. "Yeah... how did you know?"

A sigh resounded in her mind. Well, shit. Lira, I need you to hold off three Level 7s. Can you do it?

She blinked, caught between surprise and determination. "Erm... I'll try, but why would I have to—"

Lira's ears perked up as she suddenly felt four massive auras closing in on Brimar Forest.

"Who the hell killed my nephew?!"

The thunderous roar of the massive dragon at the front echoed through the forest.

Lira, Saquin asked telepathically, his calm voice reaching her, if I kill the Balogun, do I get the title?

She watched the icy blue flash penetrate the forehead of one of the dragons, freezing its form mid-air. Saquin's time power, she mused.

"Yes," she answered, watching the frozen dragon's suspended form.

Finish them. She thought Saquin would finish them by throwing out more attacks but it seems he doesn't want to. The thought that attack had taken a bit too much from Saquin or that he couldn't kill them all even if he attacked again never crossed her mind. In her mind, Saquin was invincible, an invincible genius, the level 8 balogun was not capable of shaking this believe of hers.

Lira watched as the esteemed Balogun and Saquin exchanged sharp words. Their verbal confrontation radiated intensity, each syllable charged with authority. As she observed, she noticed something peculiar about Saquin. Is it just me, or is he even cockier than usual?

With a sudden burst of energy, she dashed forward, her movements swift and silent through the forest. The plan was clear in her mind: I'll handle the two dragons. Saquin can take care of the Balogun.

The memory of the Balogun from her time following Dread surfaced briefly. Back then, he had seemed like a deity, a being so far above her that she couldn't fathom standing on the same battlefield. Now, though he remained formidable, the gap between them was no longer insurmountable. A smile tugged at her lips as she relished the change.

As she neared the dragons, the Balogun glanced her way, acknowledging her presence. But in his arrogance, he dismissed her as a threat, vanishing in a flash to confront Saquin directly. Lira heaved a sigh of relief. If he'd come after me... She shook the thought away. She trusted Saquin's power implicitly, but her decision to act without waiting for his instructions left her exposed. Better focus on the task at hand.

Getting into the dragons range, she didn't slow down, she channeled her SP through her body, enhancing her physique further thereby boosting her speed. She became a silver blur as she moved closer.

Krant, one the dragons brought by the Balogun, saw as Lira closed in on them. He hovered mid air, his wings flapped vigorously, he was mad, Marou was killed, but the fear he felt was greater. Marou was a prince and he was way stronger than him but he had been killed in one shot with no way to fight back.

As a dragon he has his own pride, but what was that in the face of death, he wanted to escape and leave the fight for the Balogun but, what is this? A werecat was coming at them, was this because he had showed fear? So the universe think he wasn't qualified to be a dragon anymore. Is that why a mere werecat was moving at him? The guts! The disrespect! He resolved himself to never be afraid again as the disrespect the universe has bestow upon him is just unprecedented.

Lira launched herself at him, her silver aura shimmering like a comet. She cut through the air in a silver streak.

Boom!

The ground cracked beneath her takeoff, leaving a shallow crater. Krant's fiery breath erupted toward her, a roaring inferno intent on incineration. But Lira, wrapped in her silver SP, sliced through it effortlessly, her aura parting the flames like a blade through silk.

Krant's eyes widened, his anger momentarily overtaken by disbelief. But he was a Primal, and a seasoned one at that. Recovering quickly, he slashed his claws at her as she closed in.

Bam!

The collision resounded as both Lira and Krant's claws canceled out each other, pushing both back. Lira was stronger in pure strength, but as this was an aerial clash, Krant had the advantage.

Mid-air, Saquin's voice played in Lira's head: Unique powers are rare. As a normal werecat, your enemy won't expect you to have one. Shock them by using it abruptly. When they're stunned, attack and end it in one blow.

Suddenly, both Krant and Lira paused mid-motion as they reverted to their positions from moments earlier.

Silver of a moment.Krant reverted back to the point at which he was about to attack with his claws. Lira to when she entered close range of Krant.

The sudden change shocked Krant preventing him from clawing out in time, this moment of shock sealed his death.

Lira had whose speed had not wavered closed in at Krant neck.

Killing Art: Silverdeath, five claws into one.

Slash!
