Rita's Unseen Destiny.

Chapter 56: Finding Comfort In Laura.

As he typed, Carlson's emotions got the better of him. He found himself pouring his heart out to Rita, telling her how much he loved and missed her.

" Hey Rita, it's me Carlson," he typed. I am going on Tuesday on a business trip to Jinja town, and I was wondering if you would like to come with me. We could spend a week together and catch up. You are the woman of my life, and no one will ever take your place in my heart. I will always love you. Carlson, your husband."

Carlson hesitated for a moment before hitting send. He wasn't sure if Rita would even respond, but he had to try. He needed to know if there was still a chance for them to rekindle their relationship."

Carlson sent the message and waited anxiously for a response. He checked his phone every few minutes, hoping to see Rita's name pop up on the screen.

But as the minutes turned into hours, Carlson's anxiety turned to suspense. Rita hadn't responded to his message and Carlson was left wondering why.

Had she received the message? Was she ignoring him? Or was she just busy and hadn't had a chance to respond yet?

As the hours ticked by, Carlson's suspense turned to frustration. Why wasn't Rita responding? Didn't she care about him anymore?

Carlson tried to push the thoughts aside and focus on his work, but he couldn't concentrate. His mind kept wandering back to Rita and the message he had sent her.

As Carlson kept on wondering, his phone rang. Carlson's heart skipped a beat as he picked up the phone, hopping against hope that it was Rita calling. But when he saw Laura's name on the screen, he felt a mixture of emotions. Surprise and curiosity, and a hint of disappointment.

"What could Laura want to tell me?" Carlson wondered, his mind racing with possibilities.

He hesitated for a moment before answering the call. "Hello?" she said, trying to sound casual despite the turmoil in his mind.

"Hi Carlson, it's Laura," she said, her voice sounding cheerful and bright. "I hope I am not disturbing you."

Not at all, "Carlson replied, trying to match her tone. " What's up?"

I am calling to check on you, "Laura said, her voice filled with concern. " I didn't get a chance to talk to you after the party, and I wanted to make sure you were doing OK."

" I am doing fine, thanks for asking," Carlson replied, trying to sound casual. " Actually, I am getting ready for a business trip to Jinja town on Tuesday."

" Oh, that sounds exciting ! "Laura exclaimed. "I have never been to Jinja town before. Would it be possible for me to come with you?"

Carlson hesitated, unsure if it was a good idea." I don't know, Laura, "he said. " It's a business trip, and I will be pretty busy."

But Laura was persistent." It would be great for me to come with you, "she said. " I have always wanted to visit the source of the Nile, and this would be the perfect opportunity."

Carlson was tempted, and he found himself wanting to spend more time with Laura. Maybe it was because he was still reeling from Rita's reaction, but he couldn't deny the attention he felt towards Laura.

" Okay, fine, he said finally, trying to sound casual," you can come with me."

Laura squealed with excitement, and Carlson couldn't help out but smile. Maybe this trip would be just what he needed to take his mind off Rita and heal from the disappointment.

As they hung up the phone, Carlson couldn't shake off the feeling that he was using Laura as a substitute for Rita. But he pushed the thoughts aside, telling himself that he deserved to move on and find happiness with someone else.

Carlson pulled out his phone and dialed the number of the Newsyland hotel in Jinja town. He had originally booked a single room for himself, but now that Laura was joining him, he needed to make some adjustments.

"Hello, Newsyland hotel," a friendly voice answered.

" Hi, I need to make a change to my booking," Carlson said, "I had originally booked a single room, but now I need two rooms for two people." Okay, sir, let me check availability," the receptionist replied. " What dates were you looking to book for?"

" Tuesday to Monday," Carlson said. " We shall be spending seven days in jinja town."

" Alright, Sir, I have made changes to your booking. You now have two rooms booked from Tuesday to Monday. Would you like me to send you a confirmation email?"

" Yes, please," Carlson said. " And can you also make sure that the rooms are adjacent to each other or at least on the same floor?"

I can arrange that for you, Sir," the receptionist replied," I will make sure that the rooms are adjacent to each other. You will receive a confirmation email with all the details shortly."

Carlson hung up the phone, feeling relieved that the arrangements had been made. He couldn't wait to spend the next seven days with Laura in jinja town

Tuesday morning arrived, and Laura and Carlson were both excited about embarking on their journey to jinja. They had planned to leave early, and Carlson arrived at Laura's house promptly at seven A.M.

Laura was already waiting for him, looking bright and cheerful in her traveling clothes. She had packed a small suitcase, which Carlson helped her load into the car.

"Are you ready for this? Carlson asked, smiling at Laura.

I was born ready, "Laura replied, laughing. " I have never been to jinja before, so I am really excited to see what it's like."

Carlson grinned, feeling happy to be sharing this experience with Laura. " Well, you are in for treatment," he said." Jinja is a beautiful town, and I know you will love it. "

With their luggage loaded and their spirits high, Carlson and Laura set off on their journey to jinja. As they drove, they chatted and laughed, enjoying each other's company and the scenic views of the Ugandan countryside.
