Chapter 34: NARCISSISTIC PRINCE
The maids looked away and began to stutter, some were even shivering in fear. Daring to say the real thoughts in their minds would be equivalent to rubbing salt on his injury, a crime none of them could commit. Not if they wanted to continue living.
Kaiser sighed and shook his head.
"I know I'm handsome but you don't need to make it so obvious. If you want to stare and drool, do it with tact and avoid getting caught. Don't look so blatantly to avoid embarrassing yourself. What will you do if people think you all have fallen for me? Can you bear the consequences of lusting after the dragon clan's second young master? Stop drooling at my handsome face, no one asked you to be born with average looks."
His narcissistic words immediately made the retinue of servants waiting on him speechless. The housekeeper chuckled, soon some others followed.
"His mouth is still as acidic and scathing as ever. This narcissistic prince, he does not look like someone in danger at all." She said, making others nod in agreement.
"By the way, has someone taken food to my mother?" Kaiser suddenly asked as the chopsticks holding the mackerel went halfway into his mouth.
"Yes, young master. I already sent people to serve her and get her ready for the day."
"Everyone has eaten, I don't need to be polite." Kaiser said and continued to enjoy his food, nodding at intervals when his taste buds cheered him on.
"But, lady Rona hasn't eaten since yesterday." One of the maids whispered in a small voice.
Kaiser scowled and turned to the speaker.
"And what has that got to do with me? Or are you intentionally trying to ruin my appetite? Do you have a death wish?"
The maid quickly went down on her knees and began to kowtow in fear.
"It's just that she has been kneeling all night in the cold. If she doesn't eat, how will she survive?"
Kaiser sighed and dropped his chopsticks.
"Congratulations, you have successfully ruined my appetite." He whispered and reached for the juice. The housekeeper's eyes went to the table where Kaiser was eating.
Ruined his appetite? But he nearly cleared out huge portions of food meant for seven people, all made with medicinal ingredients, and with the meticulous preparations of the chefs working for them. He basically enjoyed a banquet fit for a king, and enough to host guests, all by himself, yet his appetite was ruined? Was he going to eat everything and eat them too? When did he turn to a devouring dragon or some bottomless pit? What the hell happened to him? How come no one noticed all this while? Is it because his resounding arrogance always covered the rest of his flaws? Or is it that they never noticed because he didn't sit alone to eat in the past?

Kaiser walked out to the front gate of their manor where Rona was kneeling with her sword before her. She looked disheveled, but she knelt there with her back straight and shoulders squared, looking like a warrior. Her face was determined and stoic, hiding the exhaustion and sadness in her eyes. He stood at a corner watching her, she was looking straight at the manor, probably without seeing anything. Only her body was present. He noticed people watching from hidden corners of their estate which was meant for the patriarch and his people. Other members of the dragon clan living around their manor seem to be watching Rona, enjoying the show. Soon, the rumors will fly around and everyone will realize that the arrogant young mistress was being punished. No, the news probably already spread since last night.
Kaiser exhaled heavily and made his way to her.
"I want to take you somewhere. Even if you suffer, you can't let Leo or his family off. You should not suffer alone. They should have a taste of pain too. Go inside, bathe, eat and rest a bit. Get ready for battle and return to the front porch. You have forty five minutes." Kaiser whispered coldly, making her look up.
"Thank you big brother." She whispered, and stood up with the help of her sword. At once she wobbled on her feet. She had been kneeling for too long, causing her muscles to get affected. Kaiser instinctively tried to break her fall but realized that people were watching to see their interactions. He secretly made her drift to the gate, and caught the iron bars. After a few seconds, she regained her breath and straightened up. Kaiser looked at her from head to toe and shook his head, before making his way back to the house.
*****
Kaiser sat in the reception room near the front porch, playing with a jade stone, while his mind wandered. His posture was ever so arrogant and domineering, even subconsciously. He was looking handsome and powerful, without even trying. That was his natural charisma. The charm of a handsome young man filled with untameable fire.
"Big brother!" He heard a voice whisper softly beside him, making him look up.
Rona was standing before him in her normal leather warrior outfit and boots, with her favorite weapons attached to her body. Her face was bare as she wasn't in the mood to look pretty. But even her somber look couldn't detract from her natural and irresistible beauty. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, and she looked all poised for action.
Kaiser examined her from head to toe, and threw a bottle of pills at her.
"Take one and quickly digest it. Circulate the energy fast and rejuvenate your pitiful looking self. Don't embarrass me today." He whispered coldly, his harsh words successfully masking the underlying care and concern in his actions.
Rona nodded and immediately sat cross legged to obey the order. After thirty minutes, Kaiser heard her calling him again.
"Big brother, I'm ready."
"Good! It's time for the show to begin!" Kaiser whispered and stood up, his eyes cold, and lips curved up in a malicious smirk.
