RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 152: REVENGE GONE AWRY; MISTAKENLY SUMMONING UNDEAD CREATURES

Anthony turned to Tong Tong who was maintaining a stiff upper lip as they rode and sighed internally, ignoring it wouldn't work.

"Tong Tong, have this, you're bleeding. How did the wound reopen?" He remarked, offering a pill to her, alongside a flask of spring water.

"Um…" She looked at Miao Miao and shifted away her gaze.

"Um… I scraped my back against a tree." She stuttered, drawing the lie out in a nervous whisper.

He scoffed and looked at Miao Miao.

"Is that so?"

Her face turned red under his accusatory glare, it made her feel almost as if he knew something. But he already left, seeing it was ridiculous.

"If she said it, then it must have been what happened." She muttered and moved on as Tong Tong ate the pill.

Anthony hissed and pulled his horse into a gallop, forcing them to rush after him.

After two hours, Miao Miao was already groaning and giving Anthony puppy side glances. Tong Tong's horse didn't go easy on her, making her waist ache.

"Aren't we going to rest in the village? We're almost about to totally pass the village, and it's already midnight. Can't we stop and find a house or inn to stay at?" She shouted at him, sweat matting her forehead.

Anthony pretended not to hear her and continued galloping forward. Tong Tong also increased her pace to keep up with him. She had no other option than to go after them, getting left behind in that kind of environment was never an option she could consider.

"Young master An…" She called out again.

"What?" Anthony snapped at her, turning to angrily glare at her.

"I'm tired, can we rest a bit?" She mumbled, her hands fidgeting the reins.

"If you want to rest, go ahead." He growled, making her draw back, startled.

"This was exactly how you lured your sisters into danger. You're always tired, are you pregnant? If you want to rest, just stop and sleep a bit. When you're done, you continue on your journey. After all, you're now a big girl, taking care of yourself won't be a problem. I can even give you some money so you can have funds to settle down when you find a suitable spot."

She turned as pale as a corpse and shrank back, knowing he didn't approve of her. He was being so obvious that even a blind man could tell he found her displeasing to the eye.

"We are still in the village, we can find a house to stay in by diverting into the street." She whispered in a tiny voice.

Anthony scoffed and shook his head.

"If you're the villager living in this kind of environment where there are multiple cases of living corpse attacks, monster attacks and bandits, will you open up your door at midnight?"

"Someone as selfish as you, will you even open it during early evening talk more of this period? You can go find an empty house to sleep in. But be careful you might enter into a corpse soldier base or one belonging to an evil sorcerer. I heard a family was massacred when I passed by earlier in the evening. And the Gui Mie Gong disciples that were sent to eliminate the evil Gui have not arrived yet, and won't be here till tomorrow."

"Of course, your case is different. You're a brave young mistress, fending off a few ghosts and enchanted corpses shouldn't be a problem for you. You can just enter an empty house and lie down. The worst that can happen is that they might turn you into one of them. Looking at the bright side though, it's not all that bad. You will become an immortal undying ghost soldier under the command of a powerful sorcerer. You will live forever. That should be a good enough bargain for someone of your caliber." He drawled, smirking.

Miao Miao the certified scaredy cat shivered in horror. And at that moment, Anthony thought of a suitable revenge plan and his eyes twinkled with evil mischief.

[Note Gui Miè Gōng is the name of a local sect overseeing the municipality. Also known as Demon extinguishing palace.]

The moment he finished speaking, he urged his horse forward and covertly manipulated Xinglan's horse to move faster. Soon, Miao Miao was left behind in the dark night. He kept Tong Tong in the front and stayed in the middle so she couldn't see what was happening behind her.

Miao Miao panicked and urged the horse faster.

'So long now bitch.'

Anthony sent out an illusion using the purple soul calling bell, making her see visions of hideous zombies crawling out of a nearby alley. The walking corpses were pale, with blood and a green colored foul smelling liquid dripping out of their mouths.

She screamed in horror and jumped out of the horse, hitting a wall, her shriek filled the air, disturbing the tranquility of the village.

"Help! There's a ghost, corpses, walking corpses! Ahhh!"

Her screams were sorrowful and filled with terror. Even though she sprained her ankle and scraped her arm, she got up and quickly continued to run.

"Young master help! There are corpse soldiers." Her screams reverberated in the dark night and the wind howled as if to terrify her more.

"Tch! What corpse soldiers. You deserve it." Anthony whispered and looked back to witness her suffering and how pathetic she looked.

The smile on his face disappeared the next instant and he blanched, his eyes as wide as saucers.

"Crap!"

They were real!

Corpse soldiers were truly oozing out from alleys of the coffin village, it was not a mere illusion created to frighten Miao Miao.

He looked at the soul calling bell and his mouth dropped open. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Instead of an illusion, the soul calling bell attracted the real deal due to its powerful aura of darkness, forcefully taking control over the corpses from the original source. Worse, there were hundreds of them, and more were still coming. It had called over ghosts, demons and evil beings from miles away, all rushing to answer the soul calling bell's summon.

"Idiot! That was not what I asked for. I'm doomed. Even I can't defeat that much ghosts."
