Rise of the Harem King

Chapter 201: To your limits

The small sphere attached to Davi's wrist was very similar to the one he had used some time ago, in the fight against Rowan. But there was a crucial difference: that version was almost a final prototype and served to absorb electrical attacks.

Enki's laboratory had worked hard to achieve such a feat. The weapon was designed to store an absurd amount of electrical energy.

The problem was that developing something like this was expensive, unstable, and too complex; even with Enki's best teachers involved, it was only possible to manufacture a single unit.

But one would be enough.

Throughout the fight, Davi had been feeding the device with his father's strength, absorbing every discharge, every thunderbolt, preparing the counterattack.

That's why he made the ice cocoon as a distraction, while preparing his trap.

He summoned a small golem and fixed the sphere to its arm, giving it a simple command: "Release all energy when you are about to die."

Then, he activated his <Space magic>.

He had learned in practice that it was very difficult to move objects with a large amount of mass. He also wouldn't be able to move a piece of the floor because it was all treated as a single entity.

But from the moment he had already excavated a block, separating it from the rest, that was really easy. With a snap in the air, Davi swapped places with it, disappearing into the frozen earth.

That place would be a good hiding spot, especially since the frozen ground above his head would help him hide.

Naturally, Davi held his breath and suppressed his mana to the limit, hoping his father wouldn't notice.

Norman's roar followed soon after, accompanied by the crash. The sphere exploded in power, releasing all the accumulated electricity in a brutal flash.

The discharge swallowed the warrior like a storm, and the man's cry of pain echoed throughout the arena.

Unable to contain himself, a smile crossed the boy's lips.

"Damn it!" Norman groaned in pain, coughing up blood.

His breathing was heavy and all over his body, it was possible to see burns and injuries caused by that attack.

His vision was blurred and his body protested against the pain. But quickly the most serious injuries began to close.

The electrical aura around him began to reconstitute itself, as he recovered. Still, he couldn't fully recover.

Norman had just under three minutes left, so he couldn't waste any more time recovering. The man sharpened his senses and searched throughout the arena, until he felt a small trace of Davi's mana.

"This damn guy is hiding now," he muttered, tired of dealing with his son's tricks.

In the palm of his hand, lightning concentrated, then he touched the ground, sending a strong electric current directly to where he had felt Davi.

The boy noticed the blow approaching and was forced to teleport out of his hiding place. Unfortunately, he gained less time than he expected with that.

Then, in the next instant, Norman was already before him, ready to brandish his axe with all his might.

Davi managed to block the blow by a narrow margin in a perfect movement.

Luckily, the injuries made his father a little slower. At the same time, he was borrowing more power from the girls, getting faster.

Still, it was hard to know how long that power boost would really last. But he needed to hold out longer than his father somehow.

"Die!" Norman roared, advancing in a straight line with all his fury.

With a precise spin, Davi managed to deflect the blow and, in the same movement, counterattacked, opening a deep cut in his father's abdomen. But Norman didn't hesitate for a moment: he immediately responded with a brutal kick to his son's stomach.

The impact threw Davi from one side of the arena to the other as if he were a doll. Before he had time to breathe, Norman was already swinging the axe in a devastating arc, aiming directly at his head.

Davi forced himself to react, teleporting at the last instant. The relief, however, lasted less than a sigh. Norman was already on him again. This time, there was no escape: the axe blade opened a wide cut in his torso.

"Shit..."

Davi gasped, coughing blood, each word an effort. He gathered his last strength to teleport again, moving away from the next blow that was already coming his way.

Once again his father closed the distance. This time, Davi tried to slow him down by unleashing an <Air Blade>, but it was useless..

With no other option left, Davi began teleporting in rapid succession, flickering across the battlefield in every direction. Each shift left a faint ripple in the air, barely avoiding the deadly slashes as he searched desperately for an opening.

That chance finally seemed to appear when he hurled a blazing <Fire Torrent>, forcing Norman to raise his guard against the rushing wall of flames.

In the very next heartbeat, Davi blinked into his father's blind spot, his sword glowing as he poured every drop of mana into its edge.

With a sharp cry, he lunged to drive the blade straight through Norman's back…

But the man reacted with inhuman reflexes. Norman twisted and caught the sword with his bare hands, fingers closing around the burning steel as if it were nothing. Sparks showered violently where skin met blade, and Davi's eyes widened in disbelief.

"A weak strike like this could never harm me," Norman growled.

His grip tightened with monstrous strength, and with a screech of metal the sword snapped apart in his hands, shards scattering across the floor.

At the same instant, he swung his colossal axe downward in a killing blow.

Stunned by the destruction of his weapon, Davi froze for a fraction of a second, but instinct saved him. He forced his battered body into another teleport, reappearing several meters away just as the axe slammed down, splitting the ground where he had stood.

Davi was running on fumes, his mana reserves nearly depleted. With no other options left, he began pouring everything that remained into a single desperate gambit: a last <Supernova>.

Seeing his son's exhausted state, Norman slowed his pace. He dragged his massive axe along the ground as he walked, the blade scraping and sparking with an ugly screech that echoed through the battlefield.

"This fight ends here. Die, my useless son," he muttered coldly, stopping just a few steps away.

Raising the axe with deliberate slowness, Norman smiled with an absolute arrogance, and brought it down in a devastating overhead swing.

Amelia clenched her fists, ready to intervene, but…

"As if I'd die so easily," Davi snarled.

With a roar, he caught the descending weapon with his remaining arm. The impact was monstrous, the sheer force shattered his arm bones and tore into his shoulder, blood spraying as the axe bit deep into his flesh.

Yet Davi's grin didn't falter. He locked every muscle in his body, refusing to let the weapon drive him into the ground.

Then, with a sudden surge, he lashed out with a kick to Norman's chest. But it wasn't just a physical strike.

The power of <Supernova> could be concentrated anywhere in the body, and Davi had gathered it all into his foot.

When his heel slammed against his father's torso, the built-up energy erupted in a blinding torrent, unleashing an enormous beam of plasma that consumed everything in its path.
