Chapter 258: Escaping
There were all kinds of things inside including the drugs they had been injected with.
He turned to face the people who had been freed and stood near the entrance waiting for him.
"Anyone with a space superpower here?" He asked with a rough voice since he hadn't taken water in a while.
A girl came forward quickly and walked to his side.
"I have some space." She said, her voice just as raspy.
"Okay, take everything from this freezer and let's go." Vanish was cut as he ordered.
The girl didn't get angry. He was saving their asses anyway so he could order them around if he wanted.
Once everything was cleared, Vanish took the lead to walk forward.
"Mr. Flames, throw a fire ball in there and let everything burn. We don't want them salvaging anything." He was talking to the fire superpower user.
The guy didn't argue and turned around, forming a large fireball that he threw on the table with some papers and another one on the table with computers.
As his flames had improved due to the drugs he had been injected with, the flames had mutated and couldn't be extinguished easily.
Moreover, they could burn practically everything. So, the fire in the laboratory spread very quickly.
Vanish led everyone through several corners until they appeared at a door that would lead them outside.
"Once I open this door, we will be exposed. So, hold onto each other and don't let go, but walk faster.
I will hold one of you and the others follow suit. It will ensure that all of you are invisible as we leave.
We have less than three minutes to cross the walls of the base, so do not get curious and linger otherwise you will be left behind.
I will not care about you if that happens.
Let's go." Vanish wasn't babying them. He was extremely blunt and everyone understood the gravity of the situation.
So, everyone nodded their heads and held onto each other.
The girl who had emptied the freezer was the closest to Vanish, so the moment he opened the door, he grabbed her hand and activated his superpower.
All seven escapees disappeared into thin air and vanish walked out fast. It was so fast that the guards assigned to guard the door had no time to stop even one of them.
When they saw that the door was open, they ran to close it so that no one would get a chance to leave.
What they didn't know was that as the guard was running to close the door, the last prisoner walked out.
Vanish knew the puck up point so as soon as they left the building, he began to run. Those holding onto each other had no choice but to break into a run too. Otherwise, they would be exposed.
The inside and outside of the military base was filled with chaos. There were soldiers running around looking for weapons and others climbing walls and shooting at something outside the walls.
As they got closer to a hidden corner at the back of the dormitories of the regular soldiers, Vanish and his group could hear the roars and grunts of zombies.
It was at this moment that he knew that his evacuation team had lured zombies to the base to give them time to escape.
When they got to the wall, there wasn't anyone there and Vanish let go of the person behind him. Everyone came into view and he urged them.
"Climb over the wall. Quick, we don't have much time." He said as he ran three steps towards the wall and scaled it with the expertise of a monkey jumping from tree to tree.
With a jump, he landed on the other side. The others knew that they didn't have time to be coy or careful. They didn't care if they got hurt and climbed the walls purely on adrenaline.
They jumped to the other side and we're shocked to see the large number of zombies surrounding the military base.
However, they had no time to be surprised as Vanish grabbed the girl again and she grabbed the person next to her.
Just like before, they all disappeared on the spot. Vanish took off running, heading towards a place covered in darkness.
As they approached, he saw a military truck packed on the side of the road and without stopping, he opened the door and jumped in.
The people following him didn't ask any questions as they followed him into the truck and as the last person closed the door, the truck roared to life and dashed forward.
A soldier closest to that place turned around to see what that roar was for but he saw nothing. The truck had drifted at a corner and disappeared.
It was only when the captives saw that there was no one following them that they heaved a sigh of relief.
They had finally escaped that hell hole. They had almost lost hope, especially when they saw that some of the people who had been captured with them turned into zombies.
They had been worried that one day it would be their turn. Now that they were out of there, their tense nerves finally relaxed.
"I thought I would have to come in and get you myself." Su Yan suddenly spoke from the passenger seat at the front of the truck.
"Am I that unreliable?" Vanish asked with that raspy voice.
Su Yan heard the grating voice and fished a bottle of water from the dash board and gave it to him.
"No, but I thought you would be weak after being held captive for so long and even having experiments conducted on you." Su Yan replied.
"My mission wasn't over yet. I couldn't leave earlier. Also, I had to wait and get everyone else out of there." Vanish felt better after taking a few sips of water and passed the bottle to another person.
The other escapees were surprised to hear their conversation. They had not thought that he had the ability to escape a long time ago but stayed in the lab because he was on a mission and wanted to save them.
They were actually touched by his thoughtfulness.
