Restart, Spider-Man!

Chapter 195: Restart, Spider-Man! [195]

Soon, the system notifications stopped appearing.

The black spinal column cracked open. The so-called "corruption" of Hydra's power didn't seem to be entirely detrimental to him.

In the end, Hydra's power granted him nearly sixty tons of strength.

With increased muscle and bone density, combined with his baseline strength of 140 tons, Xia Luo's physical strength now reached an impressive 200 tons.

As his strength grew, the enhancements to Titan Physique and Spider Physiology progressed in tandem. His defense and stamina improved without much lag.

As for his regenerative ability, it had reached level three.

He'd need to test its limits, but one thing was certain: level-three regeneration was far inferior to Wolverine's.

That fact relieved him.

If he had truly gained a regenerative ability on par with Wolverine's, his future would be bleak.

After all, as Logan once said, "Eternal immortality is a curse."

For Xia Luo, it was even more so.

Next came his mental resistance.

While Hydra hosts could unleash consciousness-disrupting soundwaves, Xia Luo didn't gain that ability. Instead, his mental resistance increased by an additional 50%.

With the previous 50%, even a Charles Xavier boosted by Apocalypse couldn't easily breach Xia Luo's mental defenses.

Finally, there was his nanotech suit, which had been corrupted by Hydra's power.

The red parts of the suit became more vivid, and the Venom Mode was replaced by Hydra Mode, which promised potential surprises in future battles.

As always, he needed practical tests to gauge its effectiveness.

For now, the most important thing was winning the resurrection match!

Focusing his thoughts, the previous system notifications appeared before him.

[Total Restart Attempts]: 32

Xia Luo nodded slightly at the summary.

This resurrection cycle hadn't presented major challenges, so he couldn't accumulate many restart attempts.

Fortunately, the last mission had been productive.

Thirty-two restart attempts should suffice.

Taking a deep breath, Xia Luo leaped from the Cosmic Web.

In an instant, the void swallowed his figure.

The next moment, scorching air rushed against his face.

When Xia Luo opened his eyes, everything before him was tinted with fiery hues.

There was no blue sky, no white clouds, no lush mountains, nor clear waters.

Only despair and fear stretched endlessly.

Far away, atop a massive volcano, black flames shot skyward. The acrid stench of burning sulfur filled the air, while tormented souls screamed in agony.

At the volcano's base, a molten lake of lava churned like a writhing dragon. The wails of damned spirits echoed through the dim, cursed sky.

Along the lake's edge, grotesque demons wielded iron chains and fiery whips, mercilessly lashing at battered and filthy bodies.

Surrounding the volcano was an endless wasteland.

Scattered across the barren land lay the remains of enormous beasts, their skeletal remains gnawed on by grotesque hellish creatures.

Xia Luo stood atop the colossal skull of a dragon the size of a skyscraper.

Perched on the dragon's jagged horns were two massive black birds, each as large as an elephant.

Their snake-like eyes locked onto Xia Luo, as though debating whether he was tonight's dinner.

Centered around the dragon's corpse, the desolate landscape extended hundreds of miles.

Odd humanoid creatures roamed between the bones, forming rudimentary settlements.

Hawkers barked out their wares in makeshift markets, while strange alien creatures brawled in the streets, drawing crowds of onlookers.

"Where is this place?"

Faint blue light flickered in Xia Luo's eyes as information about the resurrection match appeared before him.

[Scenario]: Mephisto's Hell

[Objective]: Rescue Tony Stark's soul.

[Reward 1]: Resurrection Slot x1

[Reward 2 (Choose One)]: Spider-Man's exclusive magic: "Summon Baby Spiders," "Two and a Half Clones," or "The Wandering Spider-Soul."

[Participant]: Xia Luo Parker

[Restart Attempts]: 32

[Time Until Mission Starts]: 30 Seconds

[Time Limit]: 1 Hour

"One man? One hour?"

Scanning the information, Xia Luo's angular eyes narrowed sharply.

This resurrection match felt... different.

Of course, he'd thought that before.

But this time, it truly was unique.

A solo resurrection match.

A one-hour time limit.

And Mephisto's Hell—a realm where he had no connections, no resources, and no familiarity.

Worse, he lacked any intel about Tony's situation.

To top it off, this was Mephisto's territory. The demon lord could discover Xia Luo's presence at any moment.

This was the most uncertain match Xia Luo had ever faced.

And the stakes were immense.

Mephisto, a multiversal-level hell-lord, was on par with Dormammu, who had detected Doctor Strange's "Time Hax."

If Mephisto discovered Xia Luo's restart ability, there'd be no escape.

Taking a deep breath, Xia Luo suppressed his unease.

He could only hope his restart ability would protect him from Mephisto—the weakest of the multiversal titans.

---

As the countdown reached zero, the aura of a living being spread instantly.

Nearby, hellish creatures sniffed hungrily at the air.

"A mortal!"

"I can smell it! I can smell it!!"

"Hahaha, it's not an illusion—it's real, and it's delicious!"

"Aah! After centuries, I finally get to feast!"

"Where is he? Where?!"

"There! Over there!"

"That's him! It must be him!"

A horde of grotesque humanoids surged toward the dragon's skull.

Drooling with greed, their eyes glimmered with ravenous hunger as they fixated on Xia Luo.

"He's mine!"

A sharp scream from a suited minotaur spurred the crowd into chaos.

In moments, the hellspawn scrambled over one another, climbing the dragon's corpse to claim their prize.

Seeing the oncoming swarm, Xia Luo felt his stomach churn.

How was he supposed to deal with this?

"Yaaah~"

The next second, a fierce gust of wind swept past as two massive monstrous birds flapped their wings, diving straight at him. Their razor-sharp talons, each over two meters long, sliced through the searing air, leaving Xia Luo with no room to escape.

Shadows loomed over him.

His eyes flared with brilliant light as his body turned into a streak of electricity, darting past the giant birds in a flash.

"YAAHH!!"

Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

The electric arc weaved around in rapid loops, and the birds shrieked in agony. Their massive forms faltered before plummeting to the ground, wings flailing wildly.

"What the—?!"

"RUN!!"

As the birds crashed into the crowd below, their frantic thrashing tore several spirits apart. The shattered souls dissolved into black smoke, rising into the dismal sky.

Meanwhile, Xia Luo's electric form zipped across the dragon's skeleton and darted into the nearby bone city.

"He's getting away!"

"After him!"

A mob of grotesque spirits charged in the direction he fled, their commotion stirring up curiosity among others in the area.

"What's going on?"

"A living human has entered!"

"I can smell him—he's fast!"

"Chase him!"

"Wait! My drool!"

---

The chaos quickly turned the area into a frenzy.

Meanwhile, Xia Luo hid inside the hollow skull of a massive bull-like creature, cold sweat trickling down his back.

It wasn't the pursuit that unnerved him.

It was the thought of being caught by a horde of demons and cooked, grilled, or boiled alive.

That would be downright barbaric.

Am I really that appetizing?

No. These starving monsters needed to learn the hard way not to mess with a bug.

As he silently vented his frustrations, shadows flitted past the skull's eye sockets.

"He's nearby! The scent is too strong here."

"This human smells amazing!"

"I think it's time to heat the oil!"

"You brainless pig! We're spirits—we eat raw meat; it's tradition!"

"But I miss the good old days..."

Just as the pig-headed creature muttered, an electric arc shot out from the skull.

"There he is!"

Zap!

Electric currents surged into the pig-headed monster, obliterating its soul in an instant.

"Over here!!"

The surrounding spirits lunged toward him, but the electric arc swerved upward, transforming into a radiant streak that came crashing down moments later.

The dim world suddenly brightened.

Bzzzz!

BOOM!

The ground shattered like a spider's web. A magical shockwave rippled outward, causing the skeletal structures nearby to quake violently. The spirits caught in the blast were reduced to ashes.

In a corner, a squid-faced creature with suction cups clinging to its skin barely escaped the explosion.

Seeing the devastation, it let out a terrified shriek.

"A sorcerer!"

The sound instantly caught Xia Luo's attention.

Swish!

A web shot out, piercing through the squid creature's body and latching onto the wall behind it.

"Huh?"

Xia Luo frowned and flicked his wrist, firing another strand of webbing.

This time, the web carried a faint magical glow.

Thwip!

Finally, the enchanted web secured the squid-faced creature and yanked it toward him.

"I ask. You answer," Xia Luo said, his body radiating magical energy as he stomped down on one of its tentacles.

"Do you know Iron Man?"

"N-no!"

"What about Tony Stark?"

"No!"

"What's one plus one times one?"

"I-I don't know!"

"Three strikes. You're out."

Boom!

With a single punch, Xia Luo obliterated the squid creature. He cast a glance at the surrounding spirits who had been eyeing him, making no effort to hide his imposing presence.

"Whoever helps me find Tony Stark gets a leg."

He patted his thigh, flexing the firm muscle as if offering the ultimate prize.

"If you prefer meatier parts, I can accommodate." He smirked, slapping his rear.

"The best backside in Queens—you deserve it."

The spirits: "???"

They gulped audibly, their greedy eyes fixated on his muscles.

"I can't wait! What are you all waiting for? Are you seriously going to bargain with him?"

A dinosaur-like creature wielding a massive axe charged forward, only to be shattered into bits by Xia Luo's sandbag-sized fist.

"Anyone else?"

Blowing on his fist, Xia Luo allowed the faint magical energy to ripple from his body.

The nearby spirits quaked with fear.

If he were just a regular human, they'd risk everything for a bite.

But this guy was scarier than any of them. He wasn't worth the risk.

"U-uh..."

A small goat-headed demon timidly raised its hand.

"I'm just a kid... Could I have the leanest part? I'm still growing."

It tried to look pitiful, but its greedy gaze betrayed its intent as it eyed a particular area of Xia Luo's body.

Xia Luo's expression darkened. With a flick of his wrist, he ensnared the little demon with a magical web.

"Kids shouldn't think about eating. Did you finish your homework?"

"I-I never went to school."

"So you're a delinquent!"

With a grin, Xia Luo clenched his fist. The goat-demon's head exploded in his grasp.

"This is what happens when you don't study!"

"No!!"

Among the crowd, a goat-headed woman in a wool coat wailed in despair.

"Damn spider! He was just a child!!"

She lunged at Xia Luo, only for him to swat her head clean off with a single backhand.

Thud, thud, thud!

Her head rolled across the ground as the spirits watched in horror.

Clapping the dust off his hands, Xia Luo sneered.

"A family should—"

"No!!"

Another anguished cry came from the crowd as the child's father charged forward.

Smack!

Another backhand. Another headless corpse.

"Stick together."

Xia Luo let out a long sigh of satisfaction, his earlier annoyance dissipating.

These goat-demons weren't just slow to react—they were only mildly entertaining.

Worthless spirits.

"No!"

Another sob came from the crowd, driving Xia Luo to the edge of his patience.

"Is this never going to end?!"

Before the next voice could act, Xia Luo shot forward like an arrow.

Boom!

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

In mere seconds, the entire goat-demon family lay headless before him.

"Anyone else?"

Surveying the aftermath, Xia Luo turned his icy gaze to a shrimp-headed demon trembling on the ground.

The demon frantically shook its head.

"N-no more. I swear!"

"Good."

Xia Luo smirked and scanned the crowd of terrified spirits.

"If anyone finds Tony Stark within the hour, I'll throw in another leg!"

The offer sent a ripple of excitement through the crowd. Without hesitation, they scattered into the surrounding ruins to search.

Satisfied, Xia Luo placed his hands on his hips and let out a hearty laugh.

"Hahaha! As expected of me!"

"Indeed, as expected, Spider-Kid."

A familiar voice interrupted him, and his laughter froze.

Turning around, Xia Luo spotted an elderly Steve Rogers jumping down from a rooftop and striding toward him.

"What are you doing here?" Xia Luo asked, stunned.

If he recalled correctly, he was supposed to be the only participant in this match.

Steve, however, simply sniffed the air and let out a long breath.

Inhale~

"Spider-Kid, you smell amazing."

The Elderly Captain America hugged him tightly, closing his eyes in apparent bliss.

Xia Luo: "..."
