Resonance//Dissonance [BOOK 2 in progress]

Chapter 77: It's going down.

The car rolled it's way into the driveway with the vials of Blitz clanking in the trunk laudly. As the tires screeched to a stop and the momentum yanked on both of them as 'Theru „parked" the car, almost smashing into the curb, they saw a van driving just past them, super quickly, into the back of the club.

Both of them noticed.

It stank of blood, damage and pain, 'Theru could feel the trauma emanating off it.

Luke's tactile senses brushed against broken, portruding bones and torn, swollen flesh as the van passed behind them.

Something went wrong.

They both jumped out just as the van tore it's tires to park in the back of the building.

Baldie jumped out of the building's exit, face red and forehead full of throbbing veins. A fine suit disheveled by the rush.

Luke ignored him and rushed to the vans doors, now slammed open and releasing groans of pained men.

The insides of the Van were painted with blood, and the bodies inside mangled and bent out of shape. The driver limped out from behind the stearing wheel, clutching the side of his ribs and wincing with every step, Luke could hear how shallow his breath was, and with his tactile touch he could feel fractures along the ribs and how they grated as he moved.

„Boss!" he screamed over Luke's shoulder. „They were fucking maniacs! Just 3 of them took out all six of us! We had to empty whole clips into the fucks before they collapsed! Argh!" he tripped and his legs gave out, but was cought by Luke from behind before he could slam against the pavement.

Him and Baldie exchanged looks and Lukas nodded towards the van.

„This first, let's get them settled, they are in bad shape." to which Baldie nodded and whistled loud as a motherfucker, his henchmen running from the building. With some struggle they managed to carry the five men into the building, only three of them concious.

They called for the doctor but Luke started mending what he could, how he could.

Sprawled on the table laid one of the man, mid thirties, well built, and with his shoulder dislocated and his arm broken enough for the bone to stick out though the bicep head. He was shivering and sweating profiusly, adrenaline making his irises wide and panicked.

Luke moved around him as he prodded the man with his powers, while his healing was instinctual, he was tought how to deal with most of the effects of a lost bout.

He placed his palm on the mans sternum and could feel the man's heart thundering quickly. As their eyes met, Luke's other arm shot out and with a yank, and a twist he pulled the open bone down through the muscle, contorted it and placed back in place with a snap and a squelch. As the man started screaming his lungs out and thrashing around, Luke's hand traveled upwards and tightly squeezed his shoulder. The man stopped making any sounds, and froze, gazing into Luke's eyes he slowly started shaking his head to the sides, asking him silently to not do it.

CRACK

„AŁAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!" the shoulder was back in it's place.

He pulled away his arms and started moving towards the guy with the broken leg, yelling out for 'Theru to create something to lock the mans arm in place so the bone wouldn't move.

After the first man's ordeal, the other henchmen started saying things like „it's not really that bad" or „no, no, really, I can wait for the doc" or „no, do him first, he is more fucked up, please!" but all fell on deaf ears.

Just as their screaming finally stopped did the doctor they had on call rushed in and started administrating basic medical aid, the two unconcious guys were concussed and one had his head rattled enough that they needed to get him to the hospital, possible brain swelling.

As Luke washed his hand's off from blood he got on them while stiching up a wound, Baldie called for him.

„Luke! With me! We need to talk, and drink!"

'Theru stood next to him but remained silent throughout whole ordeal, he appreciated that and motioned for her that he will go alone. She blended into the shadows of the hallway and passed the Veil before Luke finished turning. Leaving the basements, he found Baldie and the driver sitting in one of the drinking dens next to the bar. He grabbed himself a bottle of Vodka of the bar and joined them with his ass thudding heavily on the wooden bench that groaned under his weight.

Him and Baldie stared at each other, sitting opposite sides of the table with the driver being in the middle of the two, visibly uncomfortable and stressed.

„So, how was your trip then, boy?" asked Baldie.

„Better than your guys I guess, didn't it?" and Luke pointed at the driver in question.

„erm... yeah, I guess?" he said awkwardly.

„So, what happened at your outing?" Luke asked.

„Well... We were not prepared for that level of resistance. How could we? A bunch of drug addicts would normally get done in with a few lead pipes and a heavy hand, but these guys? Fucking monsters! We went in on them, proper, full violence, fist rained and knives bleed, and they? They shrugged it off, like it was NOTHING! NOTHING! Their eyes were filled with madness! Just as we entered the Den, one of those drugged up junkies pushed against Thomas, the first in line, and we could all hear his skull indent as the palm struck. He tore through the air before we could even react, face full of blood, thankfully he didn;t hook onto anyone behind him. He was out cold."

Luke and Baldie looked at the teller with more focus, it's weight almost crushing.

„...so yeah, that's when shit started to go down. We started blasting, and they simply didn't care. We empited clips into them, body shots did nothing, one headshot was enough to stop them but they moved too quickly, too erratically, it's only thanks to the close distance that we could even do anything to them. What the fuck was wrong with them?"

„The Blitz, that's what was wrong" said Luke with his face hidden in his palms, the exhaustion emanating from him.

Baldie raised his eyebrow at him.

„I brought you some sample pieces from the raid, killed all of the men in there, left no evidence and made it look like a robbing, we should be good on this front at least, but trust me on this one and don't ask why but no analysis will tell you why it works the way it works, and No, I can't tell you why, not because I don't want to, I just can't"

The silence dragged on as Baldie chewed on his words.

,,then what the fuck you want me to do?" He finally asked dejected.

"You got to trust me with this one"

"You haven't exactly been the most effective so far fucker"

Luke met his angry gaze unperturbed and dead eyed him untill baldie dropped his stare.

"You are right ,I have not ,but you know how this shit goes ,if you need a breaker, it's never a simple job."

"That's the goddamn truth ,sadly " baldie exhaled.

"There is progress ,and we are gathering momentum ,simply allow me to snowball this further, I have 'Theru to assist me, I just need you and your people for intel and logistics"

"Are you finally gonna fill me in on who that tall chick is?"

Luke took a swig from his glass and laughed in response.

"Gladly once I fucking figure it out myself ,haha !"

They both started laughing, there is this shared struggle of women issues between men that needs no words to connect them, a balancing quality amongst many.

"Eh, right ,but really ,what the fuck is going on and what are we going to do?"

"From what I gathered ,The Blitz is being improved upon, it's effects are more pronounced, less toxic to the body but more so to the mind, whoever is cooking this up, they are methodically bettering the recipe."

"Just what we needed, another fucking Heisenberg."

"Aye, not only that but it's well organised, they leave no witnesses ,no trakcks, we will need to tail their sellers ,you know it will cost you but your people NEED to stick to their asses and keep at it."

"Right ,I will recruit some old members and their friends too, its not the time to save up on the money ,let's talk more business, and you-" he motioned to the silent Man at their table "get the fuck away from here ,here, some money for you trouble and heal up ,you did good, it will be remembered."

With a mumble of thanks the man left the table and the two stoic characters were left alone basked in the shadows.

„Imma take some of the product I brought in...for testing." Luke answered as his gaze moved towards the ceiling of the booth.

„Luke...I know you, you know I know you, you know you shouldn't take that shit." Baldie was almost deflated by the idiotic idea he knew was coming up.

„Listen, I gotta know what I'm fighting against, I got to know how they think, what's the itch."

„The ITCH is the same as always you fucking druggo, don't give me those lame excuses!"

„In any other case, you would be right. Here, it's special. New."

„Yeah, I haven't heard that before...." Baldie remained seated, as Luke said his goodbyes and went upstairs. With a tired exhale, he folded his palms and with his sweaty, creasy forehead rested on them, fell into deep concentration.
