From afar, the sound of heavy steps and the friction of objects being dragged on the ground could be heard getting closer.

The Wolfhead Mercenary Chief, Mu Li, appeared while pulling two Magic Beast corpses with one hand. His smile was faint, his gaze sharp, full of hidden intentions.

Seeing his arrival, Xiao Yi Xian stopped his punches on El and Xiao Yan. The two youths just stood still, watching Mu Li who was now standing in front of them.

Mu Li chuckled, his voice hoarse yet firm. "Boy, you are pretty good at killing Magic Beasts too. These are for you," he said, pointing at the two Magic Beast corpses now lying on the ground. "Take it, you might be lucky to find a Magic Core inside their heads."

Without waiting for a reply, Mu Li turned around and walked away, his laughter echoing softly in the air.

Xiao Yan looked at the man's back with furrowed brows. "What does that mean?" he muttered in confusion.

On the other side, El narrowed his eyes, his gaze sharp as if piercing the air. He sensed something was not right.

The scent of bad intentions, faint yet clear, was directed at Xiao Yi Xian. It was neatly hidden behind Mu Li's friendly demeanor, but it was quite conspicuous to El who was used to smelling danger.

However, Xiao Yi Xian only smiled brightly, showing no concern at all. She patted Xiao Yan's shoulder lightly. "Hey, just take it! Try to check if there are any Magic Cores inside their bodies," she said excitedly.

Xiao Yan hesitated. He looked at the two Magic Beast corpses with furrowed brows, his mind lost in indecision.

Slowly, Xiao Yan closed his eyes and spoke silently, summoning a voice that only he could hear.

'Master, what do you think? Is this safe?' asked Xiao Yan, his tone slow and cautious.

Within his mind space, Yao Lao spoke in a slightly annoyed yet thoughtful tone. "What are you waiting for, boy? Just take it. This is a common tradition among mercenaries," Yao Lao replied, his voice echoing gently in Xiao Yan's head.

Yao Lao continued, his voice sounding like someone who understood this world more than anyone else. "From what I see, these two Magic Beast corpses do indeed keep Magic Cores within their bodies. You are very lucky."

Xiao Yan nodded slowly, as if giving an answer without saying a word. Their conversation was completely hidden, even El and Xiao Yi Xian who were standing close by could not catch anything.

However, from a certain angle, Yuri who was sitting in El's spiritual world gave a small giggle.

Yuri knew, not because she heard directly, but with his special trick, she could guess the hidden conversation.

Yuri simply shook her head with a smile, like a child enjoying the game from a distance without interfering.

Xiao Yan worked deftly, putting aside his previous doubts. With his hands, he pried open the layers of hard scales on the heads of the two Magic Beasts, tearing into the flesh.

He finally discovered two faintly glowing tier 1 Magic Cores.

Xiao Yan held the two energy cores for a moment, noticing the faint sparkle emanating from them, before storing them in his pocket with a satisfied smile.

"Heh, not bad," he said with a chuckle, feeling that this achievement was quite worthwhile even though it was not his purpose in coming to that place.

Xiao Yi Xian standing nearby smiled slightly, looking at the two Magic Cores with a knowing look in her eyes. "How fortunate," she said softly, her voice full of admiration.

"It usually takes mercenaries a long time, even days, just to find one Magic Core. Getting two at once is very rare."

Xiao Yi Xian continued, explaining slightly, "You know, Magic Cores are very valuable. It is the Mercenary's main livelihood."

El, on the other hand, just let out a long sigh. In his mind, he thought, "Lucky? There's no luck here. This is just a clever play by Mu Li."

Xiao Yan, who had already put away his Magic Core, changed the subject. His face returned to seriousness as he looked at Xiao Yi Xian.

"My goal is not to seek money or Magic Core," Xiao Yan said firmly. "I have already helped you guys get here. Now, please tell me about the Jie Lie Clan's caravan path."

Xiao Yi Xian glanced around vigilantly, her eyes sweeping the campsite area to ensure that no one was eavesdropping.

Without saying much, Xiao Yi Xian immediately pulled Xiao Yan's hand and, not to forget, El's hand as well. She led them behind a large tent that was somewhat hidden, away from the crowd of mercenaries.

When they arrived at a fairly safe place, Xiao Yi Xian looked at the two seriously. In this group, it was only the two of them that she felt she could trust.

Although El sometimes displayed an attitude that she found rather perverted, and Xiao Yan tended to be naive but always lucky, they still felt more reliable than the other mercenaries, especially the Wolfhead Mercenary.

"Just tonight. Only tonight. Take care of me until I get to Qingsan city," Xiao Yi Xian said as she tilted her head and put on a cute kitten-like expression.

Xiao Yan sighed heavily, looking at Xiao Yi Xian as if in disbelief. "If I had taken care of you this one night, Jie Lie's caravan would have already arrived at Wu Tan city!" he exclaimed, then glanced at El. "Isn't she your wife, your lover, or something. Why would you ask another man for help?"

He continued in an increasingly annoyed tone. "You're not jealous? She's cheating on you, you know? And please, don't involve me in your love drama! Hurry up and give me the information about Jie Lie's caravan path!"

Xiao Yi Xian snorted, turning her face away in a dismissive manner. "Hump. This pervert is not my husband, let alone my lover!"

El, who was standing beside them, nodded in agreement with Xiao Yi Xian's statement. "That's right. Ji and Xiao Yi do not have a romantic relationship."

He glanced at Xiao Yi Xian calmly, adding, "However, Ji must admit that Ji's body is difficult to control when near Xiao Yi."

Hearing that, Xiao Yi Xian instantly twisted her body, staring at El angrily. She stomped her foot loudly, almost like an angry child. "That's the same thing! You pervert!"

Xiao Yi Xian was busy picking various medicinal plants she encountered along the way, with the focus and skill of an herbalist.

In the distance, El watched the interaction calmly. He sighed lightly, realizing Xiao Yan's unawareness of the hidden intentions behind Mu Li's friendly attitude.

'There is no scent of suspicion on Xiao Yan. Apparently, that kid really thinks Mu Li is a good person,' El thought, his eyes narrowing slightly.

El then stood up from his place, activating the Selfless State. In an instant, the atmosphere around his changed.

El's normally cold face was now even more emotionless, while his existence blended perfectly with nature, almost like a passing shadow.

El's steps were calm and soundless as he walked towards the direction where Xiao Yi Xian had quietly left earlier.

His existence was so faint that even when she passed by people who were talking, none of them noticed her presence.

To them, El was just a swish of wind that came and went without a trace, making his figure seem as if he never existed.
