Volume 1 Chapter 15
In the Kingdom of Mikael, there’s a legend that when children cry and misbehave, mothers will whisper in their ears: “If you don’t behave, the creepy uncles of Anna’s Support Group will come and take you away.”
—Anna’s Support Group, the only officially recognized cult in the Kingdom of Mikael. From Atlantis to Midgard, the notoriety of Anna’s Support Group is known far and wide.
It’s said that in its early days, Anna’s Support Group was a legitimate organization called “Golden Dawn.” However, everything changed when the character of the maid Anastasia was introduced. The group leader fell head over heels for Anna, becoming obsessed to the point of absurdly renaming the organization to “Anna’s Support Group.”
This naturally led to an uproar among the members. After 49 days of persistent persuasion, the group leader successfully brainwashed all the members.
Since then, the group has grown exponentially, eventually evolving into the cult of Anna, as spoken about in whispers among players. They say the group is filled with people who aren’t quite right in the head: Anna fanatics and twisted Anna fanatics.
That’s the general idea.
As for me, the person involved, my feelings are quite complex, but I don’t dislike them.
With the help of the player with the ID “Shidou Kurumi’s Husband,” he manages to contact his comrades outside the camp and asks them to hurry back. Anna has a new strategy!
Time is short, and I worry whether a meal without appetizers, salads, and desserts is too simple. But the response I get is, “That would be too extravagant…” and “Simple cooking is more than enough.”
“Eh? Over 80% of the group members are in jail?”
While cooking the deer meat, I was curious about the size of Anna’s Support Group and decided to inquire. Kureha claims the group has over 10,000 members, but both the attendance yesterday and the camp’s size don’t indicate such a large organization.
I get an unexpected reply.
“We’re not bragging, Anna. There isn’t a jail in the Kingdom of Mikael that we haven’t been in.”
Why say that with pride?
Players who break the law face penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment. As long as the offense isn’t severe, they’re usually released within a few days.
“What did they do?”
Shidou Kurumi’s Husband rubs his palms awkwardly.
“They hit on virtuous young women.”
“… ”
And they were all supposed to be devoted to me?
“Why would they do that?”
“About that…”
“Anna—Anna—Anna—Anna—Anna—?!”
A large crowd of players storms into the camp from outside. All their reactions upon seeing me are the same, down to the letter.
“Greetings, brave warriors of the Mercenary Corps.”
After my greeting, a man with glasses leading the group has a companion who suddenly shivers and whispers, “Advisor…I’m going to log off for a moment.”
“Is he not feeling well?”
“It’s fine; he’s just a bit overwhelmed by your soft voice. That guy’s nicknamed ‘The Anna Legend’; he’ll be back in about a minute.”
The man with glasses waves his hand, signaling I shouldn’t worry.
“Everyone outside is frantically searching for you, Anna. We didn’t expect you to come here.”
“If I’m causing trouble, I’ll leave…”
“Of course not. Our camp is quite large; you’re welcome to stay, rest, and even sleep.”
The term “Anna” feels a bit strange; it must be unique to Anna’s Support Group.
I explain my purpose for being here: to avoid player attacks, to thank Anna’s Support Group for their help yesterday, and to discuss some personal issues.
Although they claim the group exists solely to protect me, I don’t take their selfless dedication for granted. At the least, this deer meat dish is a small token of my appreciation.
“Is this… deer meat soup?”
“I’ve seen it on noble tables.”
“Our collective cooking levels don’t even hit double digits…”
“Food prepared by Anna herself… I want to cherish it…”
“It won’t taste good if it gets cold, you know.”
While it’s not a glowing dish and no one’s clothes are going to explode off, the blissful expressions on their faces after tasting the soup make me wonder if I accidentally added some strange ingredients.
Only two people are the exception.
Shidou Kurumi’s Husband and the man with glasses. They didn’t drink the soup but moved away to whisper amongst themselves.
“…Your point is?”
“Advisor! Think of a plan with your strategic mind! We can’t let Anna be wooed step by step!”
“Strange, didn’t you collect many NTR books of Anna? Shouldn’t you be excited?”
“I didn’t have a choice before. Now I want to be a purist. Advisor, we have to protect Anna in our own way. If we can keep her here, no one will be able to woo her!”
“Hmm… a crazy idea.”
“Advisor!”
“But I agree with your view. All I need is one plan, and Anna will surrender willingly.”
“Nice! Advisor, I knew you could do it!”
…Um, I can hear you, you know?
