Chapter 462: [Dystopian Elven War] [38]
The celebration of elves echoed within the entire battlefield.
It was perhaps the most crucial victory since the start of the war.
Even though it was me who had won the battle, not them.
I let out a sigh as I had my eyes closed while I felt an icepack on my head.
"I am fine." I said as I felt the icepack move. "Where did you get the pack anyway?"
"Stay still." Siersha's voice echoed in my ear. "Even if there's no cut, your skull took a blow hard enough to rattle you."
"I will heal in a few hours."
She ignored my words as she kept on taking care of my wounds.
Having some time for myself I reviewed my fight with Soren and his team.
'….They were weak.'
Should I even say that?
I mean, in a sense they were strong….a lot stronger than normal Eternals.
But even though five, they didn't pose much threat to me.
[<Fighting against the best in history helped you a lot.>]
I couldn't help but agree at Inna's words.
Soren and his team were much weaker than Lazarus and Buinal.
I could in some sense hold my ground against them so Soren didn't stand much chance.
My eyes fluttered open as I felt Siersha's hand move back.
She was close enough that I could smell her fragrance.
And I couldn't help but notice the worry on her face.
I tilted my head in confusion. "What happened?"
Siersha didn't reply; instead she closed in and hugged me.
For a second I froze as her head buried in my chest.
My concern grew as I called her. "Siersha?"
She didn't respond as her hands wrapped around my waist and squeezed tightly.
"…Things will be hard from now." She whispered softly, her voice muffled. "You will face things that might crush you."
The more she spoke the more confused I became.
And how her body trembled didn't help either.
I frowned at her words. "What..are you saying?"
She slowly looked up at me to meet my eyes.
"Promise me." She said, her voice cracking. "Promise me, you won't leave us if you find a better place to live."
A sense of anxiety bit me as I felt uneasiness creep into my mind.
"Why would I do that?" I asked, looking at her. "I belong here and I would never leave—."
"Not even when you don't have to deal with Esmeray?" She cut me off with her question. "Or if you can live with Christina forever?"
I froze in my place once again as I couldn't understand her words.
My lips parted, but no words came out.
I stared at Siersha, trying to make sense of what she was saying.
Her face held an odd mix of sorrow and fear as if she already knew something I didn't.
Something that hadn't even reached me yet.
"Why would you say that?" I asked, softer now. "Why would I—."
My words halted as the gate of the tent moved.
Siersha let go of me as she took a step back.
"I am sorry." She whispered. "That was a stupid thing to ask."
I couldn't reply as two people walked inside.
Aries was all smiles as he saluted me in the traditional way of elves. "Sir!"
I nodded as I glanced towards the one who walked with him.
Nymeria still had that glum face that annoyed the fuck out of me.
Despite my hate for her I really didn't like that face.
That really reminded me of my past when I was at my worst.
"We have a messenger from Demiurges." Aries said, grabbing my attention.
"They are asking for the dead bodies of the Eternals."
"Ignore them." I replied immediately. "They most probably want it so they can send it back to Atretic House."
And the last thing I want is House Atretic to get another species to experiment on.
Aries nodded as he seemed to agree with my decision.
"I would like to suggest something." He said with an awkward smile. "If I may."
I nodded, gesturing him to speak.
"Would you like to send their heads back to Queen Pasithea?" He asked. "It may not, but it could still help with your case—."
"It doesn't matter." I cut him off. "But yeah, do send the heads to her."
Aries nodded as he bowed deeply. "I will do as you say."
He quickly walked out of the tent leaving me alone with Siersha and Nymeria.
"If you have nothing to say then get out." I said, looking at Nymeria.
She looked at me then at Siersha before she said. "I need to talk. Alone."
Siersha let out a sigh. "I will go—."
"No." I cut her off as I grabbed her hand. "You will stay."
Nymeria frowned. "This is important Himmel—."
"Yeah, she will stay." I cut her off as well. "Like it or not."
"She is a fucking vampire!" She snapped at me as she stepped forward.
"She is my fiancée." I replied, tilting my head. "You can either speak or go away."
She shot a glare at Siersha who puffed her chest as if she was proud.
I really wanted to pinch her cheek but I let her be for now.
"…fine." She finally conceded as she sat on a chair.
I sat down as well as I gestured towards her. "Speak "
She waited for a while as she kept on staring at me.
Come to think of it she could only stare at me because of her OCD.
Other people's faces must irritate her the more she stared.
"Don't listen to Lady Elfie." She finally spoke after a while. "Don't…look into your past."
I tilted my head in response. "Why shouldn't I?"
She stared dead into my eyes. "You wouldn't be able to handle it."

[Valentine Household, Akasha.]
"FUCK!!!"
A curse boomed within a hall room as Edwin stared at the letter in his hand.
"Fuck, fuck!"
He kept on crushing as he crumbled the letter in his hand.
"This wasn't supposed to happen…" Edwin hissed. "That thing was trash! How did he grow so strong… how?!"
Edwin still remembered the boy who came to his household.
He was weak and pathetic, who amounted to nothing to him.
Veins bulged on his neck as he turned and kicked the nearby table, sending it crashing against the wall.
The servants in the hall flinched but knew better than to speak.
He paced back and forth like a caged beast, muttering to himself.
Now, that same boy had defeated Soren. Crushed five Eternals….Turned the battlefield to ash.
Edwin bit his lips as the wariness he had of Himmel spiked once again.
His body trembled violently as a thought crossed his mind.
'…What if Himmel stopped my plans?'
"FUCK!!!"
Edwin snapped once again as he grabbed a chair and slammed it on the wall.
"I AM A DEMIGOD!!! NO ONE CAN STOP ME…NO ONE!?"
A knock echoed on the door.
"What?!" Edwin barked.
The door creaked open, and a pale-faced butler entered. "Sir…there is someone who came to see you."
Edwin was about to snap again but he stopped as two figures walked inside.
Everyone within the room fell at once as Edwin stared at the man.
"Hey, Lazarus cheap copy." Samyaza said as he waved at him. "How have you been?"
A vein bulged in his head but he quickly calmed himself down.
"Why are you here…sir?" He asked, as his eyes slipped towards the guy with him. "And who might he be?"
"Oh, he is El." Samyaza smiled, patting the white-haired man. "He is like my son—."
"I am not." El replied, pushing his hand aside. "And be in your limit, Samyaza."
"Aw, man. Don't be like this." Samyaza said before he looked at Edwin. "Don't mind him, he is just shy."
Edwin's eye twitched at Samyaza's casual tone.
"I wasn't told you'd be visiting," Edwin said, forcing a polite smile.
"Why would we need to tell you?" Samyaza said, flopping into a chair like he owned the place. "It's not like you're doing anything useful these days."
Edwin clenched his jaw. "I'm in the middle of coordinating my campaign—"
"Your campaign is a joke," Samyaza interrupted flatly, his voice like still water. "Himmel should've killed you already."
Edwin bristled, fists tightening. "Is that supposed to be a threat?"
"No," He said, finally meeting Edwin's eyes. "It's a fact."
Silence followed, cold and sharp as Edwin stared down at him.
Then Samyaza leaned back and kicked his feet up on a table.
"Relax." He said with a smile. "You won't die. We made a deal remember?"
Edwin let out a sharp sigh as he nodded once.
Back when Edwin fought with Samyaza in Gwenyra's palace they made a deal.
Edwin sat back on a chair as he looked at the man. "Yeah, I do remember." He said.
"If I ever die my soul will go to you so you can revive me."
Samyaza tilted his head in response. "And what did I ask in response?"
"To keep pressuring Himmel." He replied, closing his eyes. "To make sure he remembers he can die at any time."
"And it's safe to say you aren't doing a good job." Samyaza replied with the same smile. "Don't you think, Edwin."
Edwin slowly opened his eyes. "Why would you do that?"
Samyaza's smile grew even bigger. "What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger."
Edwin slowly stood up from his seat. "But you said I can kill Himmel if I want."
"I still stand to my words." Samyaza replied, shrugging. "I would even encourage you to do so before Himmel grows too strong."
Edwin stared at him for a while without any response.
Before, he never even considered the notion of dying, but now….
"You will revive me if I die right?" Edwin asked, looking at him.
Samyaza's expression turned serious. "I swear on the name of my father." He said. "And I respect him a lot."
Edwin grunted as he turned back.
"Himmel will die within a month."
He said, his voice echoing within the place.
"I swear that in the name of my ancestor."
